For the very first time in my life, I was able to grow Lisianthus from seeds. I was challenged when I saw this in a bouquet of flowers and none of this plant is sold in my local garden centers. I did this thru the Winter Sowing method which I started in Dec2021. It took like eternity for the seeds to germinate. When they did, the seedlings were so tiny. And when they bloomed ( I had the Champagne variety), all my frustrations were rewarded. The seed pods shown on this video have not yet matured. To know that they are fully matured, you have to let them dry out on the stem, until they are all brown. And yes, the seeds are so tiny. Overall, it's worth gowing from seeds.
If my lisianthus seedlings grow and flower, I’m going to try saving the seeds and growing them. I had a late start this spring but your video on seed sowing and this one, is very encouraging! Thank you.
Just a decade ago close shots like 1:47 would require high quality cameras to capture details like those tiny seeds. Nowadays it's so easy... And, it's a smartphone camera, isn't it? 😆 I had no idea that this plant (Lisianthus) was even like this, I appreciate you diving into such details 🙂
Any luck germinating the seeds? I want to try saving my Lisianthus seeds this year too, and have found very little information about Lisianthus breeding / seed saving.

No luck, I'm guessing the seeds is not ripe yet. We will try saving them again this year, the seeds is getting expensive to buy 😅
I grew my Lisinathus from seeds (see my comment just posted). Good luck.
May I know, how long could lisianthus live? Is it always grow or die after blooming?
That depends on where you are. They are perennials inUSDA Zones 8-10.
Such a tiny seed.
Cool right! 😆
