    For any driver's test, you need to be competent with 4 abilities:
    1) Space management;
    2) Observation;
    3) Communication;
    4) Speed management.
    In addition to these 4 abilities and skills, your job on a driver's test is to demonstrate to the examiner that you have due care and control of the vehicle in changing traffic conditions...nothing less, nothing more.
    Your job is to take away the examiner's right to fail you.
    All driving tests, except those in California, Ohio, and Maryland require students to parallel park. And even if it's not required on a driver's test, learning this maneuver will make you a better driver overall.
    Any person can point a vehicle down the road and drive it, but not all drivers can park well and maneuver their vehicle with ability and skill.
    Good luck on your road test.

    Many thanks to you, Rick and your excellent instructions. As of today (02/27/2024), I passed my Driver Skills test and surprisingly on the first try. Honestly, I had in my mind that whether pass or fail, my main goal was to protect the examiner and myself during the test. Astoundingly, it worked in my favor and this is after having two anxiety/panic attacks pertaining to work and the skill test the night prior. I know I recieved demerits for the lane to lane turn (left turn but went to right lane, white dashed line, instead of left lane) and the parallel park(entering turning too early, no problem exiting ). Continuing to hone these abilities. Besides the things that I need to work on, as mentioned, she stated that she have no major complaints or issues.
    Key takeaways:
    1) Breathing is extremely beneficial, particularly for those who have anxiety or panic attacks when confronted with new situations.
    2) Concentrate on your driving. Mistakes may or may not occur. You will improve with time and study. You'll be alright as long as you don't make critical blunders.
    3) For the test, as an optional suggestion, think about using your driving to protect you and your examiner . Which increase the chance of "taking away the examiner's right to fail you," as Rick stated in one of his videos.
    4) Observation (360 scan, awareness, shoulder checking, etc) is a MAJOR key. Possibly the primary reason why I pass on the first try., along with space management.
    I was able to conquer my phobia of driving and the drivers skills test thanks to your instructions. Even though I now have my license, I will continue to study your videos because I have learnt new things about driving that I was previously unaware of. I've already suggested your channel to a coworker's grandson. Thank you again very much.

    I've been training for over a month and a half now, I'm still not ready to take my test yet.. My employer has a training program.. the other guy in my group took his test 3 times last week and failed each time due to grinding gears skipping gears and allowing the vehicle to roll too far out of gear, and as well as not double clutching which we were never taught.. I really want to take my test in an automatic but my employer and trainer seems like they won't allow it, they don't want us to have the automatic restriction.. I have a very hard time learning how to downshift a manual transmission, I hope get it sometime soon..

      Have a look at this video for shifting: ruclips.net/video/LzB9vZ71v08/видео.html When downshifting, get the engine down to 1,000 rpm. Are you taking lessons with a driving instructor, or just someone that knows how to drive a truck? All the best, Cheers Rick
