Stunning car and a fantastic, honest review as always. Top stuff! And having driven over it a million times myself, I recognised that hump-back bridge over the railway just from your expression! In any car, it would be more comfortable driving over one of the pyramids in Giza!
Love the spec, love the sound and the new cameras are working a treat. Seriously love that car can’t blame you if it becomes a keeper. The longer you do the better the news gets👍🏻
Judging from the title, no it wasn’t mistake Tom. You clearly love Porsches and a 911 997 GT3 RS is an iconic car. The sound, looks and the fact it’s a manual is even better
I question the seats. If the car is the 3.8, will you perhaps revert the seats to standard as the headrests donate 4.0. Presumably added aftermarket by the previous. Seats withstanding, the 997 GT3RS is a stunning car.
Yeah the standard comfort seats were swapped out and replaced with these folding buckets which are correct for this model but they do say 4 L on the headrest. Retrim easy. On my to do list.
Switchable damper settings are pretty well balanced. 997 GT3 and RS platform can have even better on and off track suspension with upgraded DSC Controller.
DSC controller will improve the ride quality over standard. However, I fitted TracTive semi active suspension to my 997.2 GT3 and it was a game changer. The way my car now handles our challenging Cotswold B roads has to be experienced first-hand to be believed. An amazing upgrade for these cars!
@@jasonshipley5702 That's my next move! Going to see how the DSC alters things first on a couple of track days, then decide on next move, but I agree Tractive is the ideal route.
TOM IS BACK! Ok you have come back with a bang! What a incredible car that is, just can’t help but look at it and want to look round, heat the exhaust, and just admire it! Yep! This is a good one!!
Very cool video Tom! The car is a true gem and I can see you wanted to make it justice with this video and all the angles. As far as what regards the new gt3 suspension setup I think they will fix it on the 992.2. Keep it up with the great content because here is much appreciated!
I think this is the smartest car purchase you’ve made to date. People love this car and want to see more content and it’s only going to appreciate in value.
Love love love the 997 GT3 RS..especially your example Tom in the white with champagne decals and wheels 😍. If I had the dosh, I'd be biting Dean's arm off to buy his example for sale at DMB collection! 👍😎
Thats pretty insane that its pretty complient on our shi**y roads. Were talking GT3. RS FFS!! Thats mad. Cant even do that with the new GT3. Its crap in the real world. Bone shatteringly hard. I saw Harrys video.
For something to enjoy and drive, its one of the best cars in the world. From an investment perspective, it'll also probably double in price within 10 years. Even if you drive it regularly.

Nice to ref Harry, what’s the point of GT3 that’s so hard on your spine every day, the USP of 991.2 GT3 from experience is its dual personality and relative comfort...997s are good news, I have a 2011 GTS paid £45k in 2017 took it to Porsche Dealership as was looking at new GTS as a new daily, to replace my 991 GT3, Dealership wanted to buy it even though I said it was not for sale offered me 70k ...but no it’s a keeper , I mean what would I replace it with..
3.8RS owner here, bought my car very recently. The price you quote are completely off, by at least 40% up. Price listed are out of controls but there is no sale... They will go up i do agree but the selling price are actually much lower than what you see listed.
The RS just sits nicely, very nice car and I think a good buy TGE. It’s not a daily for me but hey different jokes etc. It’s not the money, I’d like it too much to dump it at the train station, and restaurants over night, or somewhere nearby, and car parks dotted around all over. So when could it be used. Think I’d always be expecting it to have gone and an impending insurance nightmare = end of cars for fun. For me life first and car second, I love the RS but not the limiting aspect it would bring. So does that mean I can’t actually afford one? I can’t afford to use it for the life we lead so maybe I can’t. It’s a funny thing, even if I could afford 3 of them I would still care about it. Makes me think about the 918 outside claridges front door with the daily parking ticket - you could take it that he was arrogant or you could think what choice did he he have. I suspect the tickets were a bargain, at least he didn’t have to keep worrying or checking it. I mull this dilemma a lot, and always end up getting something disposable that I’m not that excited about, and therefore think it’ll be left alone and be there 9am next morning so we retrieve it and use it to go for breakfast
Lovely car there mate! btw, if you fade the audio at the end of a split clip, it wont make that horrible clicking noise. Would make a big difference for headphone users like me.
Tom, could you explain in more detail how you managed to get Apple CarPlay (and a more up to date PCM) into your 997? 2012 997 GTS owner here wondering, given that PCCM from Porsche does not seem to be soon forthcoming. Any links etc you can provide would be greatly appreciated. TIA. Cheers.

By the way TGE, while we are on sexy cars, as much as I love a 911, if I sunk money in an RS type car it would have to be an LCE Quattro Sport. Pure heaven for me. I’ve spent time in an original (not mine) and never forgotten it, but @ 500k + best I dream about the LCE then take it home and go out in something below the radar
I wouldn’t daily one. Too rough and hard. 991 are a lot more drivable on the road. Peak “daily-ability” is probably a 991.2. Premium speaker is pointless - I have literally turned on the radio / iPod connector like twice since I bought mine. Gearbox is a bit sticky on a cold morning but shifts nice once it warms up. The clutch is not that heavy?! I guess compare to an old tessarossa it’s not horrible but it’s pretty damn heavy compare to virtually every other car out there. I could never heel-toe mine properly on the street - I find the gas pedal to be too low relative to the brake pedal so unless I am slamming on the brake I can’t get it right.

Unfortunately the original valve controlled back boxes weren’t with the car no more (I know, such a thing never existed on 996GT3’s…,, well this one had it).
