Beautiful. How do you make the pattern. Just make it up as you go or any advice on how to get it right?

I would definitely advice using a reference photo. It’s a lot of small triangle shapes and they get thinner and smaller further away. Another thing that was really helpful for me is to turn your reference photo to black and white and turn the contrast to max. Technically make it only 2 value: very white or super black. It really helped identify the important pattern and the big shape instead of the tiny trivial details
