@@juanperez-lh9mt I was genuinely asking, but it’s all good. I understand both jokes, but wasn’t sure if his response was originally intended as a joke or not.
For someone who actually needs it though, what's more dangerous; a lifetime of low testosterone or a lifetime of TRT? I would imagine having naturally low testosterone (under 300 ng/dl) is probably going to cause more serious life shortening health issues than if you were to be on TRT at 900 ng/dl for life. The biggest thing probably being BMI.. the average BMI for someone with testosterone under 300 ng/dl is probably 30-40%. If nothing else, I think the risks of TRT are offset by the risks of a high BMI and other serious things that correlate with very low testosterone.
And bone loss and depression and general quality of life which leads to happiness and an active mind and body. So yes, I agree with you, there is a laundry list of positives.
I was diagnosed with severe depression and was around 35% BF. My test was at 250ng/dl. Now on trt I'm at 600. Id say thats about the middle of the spectrum for test levels. No more depression meds, and I'm at the same weight but down to 25%bf and working to lower it more. It made a huge difference for me and none of my doctors ever checked it because I was under 30 I got it checked because I suggested it. I'd recommend if you have any symptoms like being tired, exhausted, low sex drive, obese, depressed, go get your blood work done.
No one fixes diet or sleep ect. You just want the easy way out to get big and strong. I did it I'm guilty. But I'll admit i wanted testosterone. If I could go back I could fix my issues naturally. Now I can't say that's an option anymore 10 years on
TRT with the right doctor is safe. Lots of parameters to watch over the last 10 years on Test I've had more docs who don't know what they are doing versus docs who do. For the most part I think the majority of people who get put on Test don't need it. Nobody wants to do hard work in the age of Ozempic though so this is understandable. No amount of TRT fixes poor lifestyle choices.
Really sad. The sad part is most of these men will walk around psychologically placing themselves higher on the hierarchy of men because their test fueled feeling will make them feel they've done the hard work - without actually having done the hard work through diet and lifestyle to get there.
At the same time, who's gonna live longer; the natural "average" guy with 400 ng/dl test levels who watches tv all day and eats nothing but processed food or the guy on TRT with a 900 ng/dl test level who eats clean and exercises? It's probably more often that not that someone who is looking into testosterone levels and taking action to improve them also tends to make other lifestyle changes that will increase lifespan. Take it a step further though too for anabolics. What's more dangerous to your health; 25mg of Anavar or a double quarter pounder with cheese meal from McDonalds? Like the control group for the "average" person is probably routinely doing more destructive things to their health (bad food, smoking, vaping, drugs, alcohol, sedentary lifestyle). I think even for limited anabolics, the other positive lifestyle choices that go with it will probably see that person outliving the "average" person.
The biggest issue with trt is that if someone gets a blood reading of 1100 nanograms per deciliter and they do that blood draw the day before they take their next shot. That means that they probably had 1700ng/dl upon initial administration. (If shot weekly ) I'm natural between 800 and 1000. And I do a hell of a lot of things to keep that. One shot or testosterone that takes you to 1500 has a massive impact
Absolutely. Serum level will vary relative to dose on an individual level, and then that blood test result may not be a "true" representation of the typical hormonal state a person walks around at if the trough point is underpinned by an infrequent admin protocol. Not to mention the disproportionate hormone conversion, hematology impacts, etc. All that said too, the number on paper is just a number, and different people will have different needs for optimal health, symptom relief, etc. Very nuanced discussion, and often not interpreted with full context.
To add a confounding variable to the discussion of TRT, we should reference the use of transcrotal testosterone cream. If you apply the cream say early morning, you’ll get a peak (usually a fairly significant peak) an afternoon dip and by the next morning your serum testosterone will be half of what it was at peak. Some people like to say that cream is therefore more physiological. As it more closely aligns with circadian rhythm.
