It's the thickness of the yarn. Catagory 3, light weight yarn. Twice the thickness of sock yarn. It's thinner than worsted and heavier than fine. Yarn thicknesses go like this, from thin to thick: lace, fingering, sport, dk, worsted, aran, bulky, super bulky. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
