    ▽ABOUT ME▽
    I'm Margot, a 5-time Brazilian jiu jitsu World Champion and high performance coach. I took my first BJJ class in the UK just before my 19th birthday and I'm now a black belt at Unity Jiu Jitsu in New York under Murilo Santana.
    I’m passionate about providing world class Brazilian jiu jitsu coaching to anywhere in the world, because for most of my career I was based in Europe and Asia, without access to high level jiu jitsu. My aim is to win with beautiful, superior movement quality and not just win for winning’s sake.

    Margot is one of the rare articulate bjj coach in the world that has it really as a gift, always inspiring. I am glad she is working now with Kennan and jiu-jitsu X.

    I get alot to the position you are at at 2:02 but from that point if I'm not fast enough they spin through, obviously I get the sweep then but what would be a good follow up move if they spin through? I understand that your left leg prevents them from spinning but sometimes they are just to fast. or is this not a high level escape they would do?

    Hey Margot is super legit. But K-guard is Not Named after the Letter "K" 🤣
    it is Named by its inventore forename "Karo"

    • @MargotCiccarelliBJJ
      @MargotCiccarelliBJJ  Год назад +1

      Isn't Neil Melanson the original guy who did K guard? I'm pretty sure it's been done in other grappling arts too to be honest. The leg configuration still looks like a K anyway haha. De La Riva for example was already a position utilised in Kosen Judo many years before it was popularised in JJ

      Thank you so much for this reply. And yes neil is "Kind of" the inventor of this Position. And he always say if asked why it js called "K" that he watched one of His friends do it and he is called by Karo in first Name.

    Thank you for the technique. When I try this, the defender turns to face me and places the hips on the mat, leaving me in sort of a belly-down position. Do you have any additional tips for when the opponent starts to sit and turn toward you?

    that's a very sweet spot for crushing calf there... too bad ibjjf has too many restrictions

      Upper belts can still do it :) rulesets are made to minimise injuries. In the classroom with safe training partners, you can do whatever you like. :) I have a bunch of calf crushers I've been working on lately, might show it on the RUclips sometime!

      What is the rule that this is illegal, at lower belts? Knee ripping as if when in ashi garami? But it’s illegal for all belts…? Thanks

      Pretty sure it's named after Karo Parisyan, Neil Melanson developed it and named it after him because Karo was the one that gave him his black belt.

    What is to prevent the top person from stepping over your head with their left foot after the second sequence. I may be missing something.

    She's obviously better than myself, but it's called K Gaurd because it's named after Karo Parysian.
