Thank you so much!! I just bought a remarkable 2 and the only thing I was worried about was being able to prioritize and search through content. This is exactly what I’ll do.
I struggle with file proliferation. I wish there were more content like this out there. Thanks for the excellent video! I have implemented your file structure for remarkable and it's working quite well so far.
Voja, this is a tip/trick that I find useful as a lazybones writer. I mainly came up with this as a way to more easily get my handwritten draft articles from reMarkable into our content management system, in an editable form, without the trouble of any typing. Long intro, sorry. If someone has Evernote, one can email the reMarkable text that one has converted to PDF into Evernote. Evernote will convert the PDF into text. The resulting document can be copied, pasted into Word or a text editor or a content management system, and edited like any word processing or text document. It will not be a PDF once it is in Evernote. No need to re-type or do any other conversion.
Many thanks for this video. Another efficient way to number directories is to do it in tens. This way, if you want to insert a directory later, you play on the units: 10.folderAa, 20.forlderB, 30.folderD ....... and later, you can add 25.folderC
Voja, what a great tip. I can hardly wait to apply it to my first ever reMarkable (alas, batch 7). I have used this numbering method to organize hierarchical lists and sublists within a text document. I use this method in lieu of using the built in outlining options in most text editing apps because I want more control over the organization of my stuff. Another method I use to keep track of folders and files that have the same subject or topic name is to add a date stamp using the format YYYYMMDD. I will put a zero in front of single digit months and days so I always have an eight digit date stamp i.e. 20200907 for September 7, 2020. Using this method allows me to alphabetical sort date stamps chronologically.
You are the best of what you do.....Keep up the good work and we can't wait what's next. Hopefully remarkable will be able to fix the software issues. Thank you....
I am so glad I stumbled on this channel. Excellent content, love listening to your feature overviews at work. Super stoked for my remarkable 1 coming on Thursday :)
I think I've watched every one of your rM2 videos. I hope so, excellent info, trustworthy. You convinced me it is a safe investment and got it a couple days ago. So far very pleased. More so, I really like your presentation style, thoroughness, and general style. Virtual beer my friend, thanks for all your hard work!
Nice this is exactly what I needed as someone that preordered and never used Remarkable. Hmm I think I might actually start using your naming convention for everything, I usually just name the folder and rely on alphabetical order and remembering the folder name to find it, but using numbers makes more sense to organise stuff and display them in what order you want, although it would seem like a hassle to insert a folder that you would want to display at the top, but I guess you can use decimal numbers(1.1) for that or something. Thanks, can't wait for the next video in this series :)
Software version updates use the 1.1, 1.3.12, etc. convention. If you are going to use whole numbers, sorting alphabetically will create a problem after the number 9. For example, if you have a 10th and 11th folder, the folder sorting order will be 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
@@davidvvassallo I haven't received my reMarkable 2 yet but I solve this problem on my computer by using 01, 02, 03, etc. so when you get to 10 it's still in the order you expect/want.
Thank you for your video! I am trying to figure out how to get a quick note that I made of my to do list to appear every time I turn on my device. In other words, I need it as the default page when I open it. Do you have any idea?
Simple idea! I don’t know why I didn’t think about it myself! The single digit format works only up to 9 though in terms on alphabetic sort. If 10 and up, I find that it will sort 1, 10, 11, 2, 3 etc. So if I get above 9, I have to rename to double digit format.. 01, 02 etc EDIT: Sorry, that’s all obvious since it’s like any file system!
Beautiful Videos! Just a small tip: maybe you can adjust your camera's focus on the device. Right now it seems that it adapts to your moving hands, making the screen a bit blurry.
Thanks for the tip. It was adjusted, but since it was a longer session, the heat of the camera body seems to have shifted the focus slightly, since I did make it to be focused on the device, initially. Unfortunately several videos from this series will be like this, with a slightly softer focus, but nothing is lost in showing what's what, so I'll keep the videos as they are and focus on making new videos, rather than redoing these, just for such a small imperfection.
Thank you very much for your reviews, they are really helpful. I wanted to to move my files to a folder, butI was not able, so I opted the option of downloading the Windows Desktop App. But it is not working for me as they only have win32 version and my PC is win 64. Do you have any suggestion please ? Thank you
Hi Voja, Thank you very (very) much for this organisational tip :) If I understand correctly, you first organise by type (1. Notebook, 2. Document, etc...) and then by content (1. Dwarf Cavern, 2. My Deep Guide, etc...). What is the intent of organising your folder by notebook and documents first? Was it just as an exemple or is it to keep the first display minimalist? Would it be easier to have an organisation by content from the start (1.Dwarf Cavern, 2. My Deep Guide, etc.)? Thanks a lot!
Why is it so blurry? I hope you make a video on the new update. You said you prefer the default pen, why is the black in this video? Are you still using your rM1 mainly but with the new marker?
Can you export large amounts of notes from Remarkable to Google Drive or any other way? Within my 100 day return policy and really like the device, but not finding a way to backup my notes as PDFs in large amounts periodically, which is concerning from a long-term use perspective.
I am a little confused with the names "File" and "Notebook." The way I understood things is that the Remarkable 2 is like a file cabinet, with "File" folders going in the cabinet, and"Notebooks" going in the files. Where I got confused is when you named your first file: "1. Notebooks", when it is actually a file. Can you clear this up?
If you convert the hand writing into text, is the text searchable? That would be a huge feature for me since I might need to search on key words from notes I have written in the past. And can you add meta data tags/words for searching on non-text documents? And thanks for posting these great video tips.
Unfortunately no, it's not. In fact, you can only do the most basic text editing operations that the keyboard alone will allow you to do, so typing, deleting, and adding new lines with Enter button. There is no way to save this locally, or to format the text in any way. So, it's very limited as far as editing functionality goes.
Hello, unfortunately no. It's one of the basic functionalities that we've been asking for, for 3 years, but so far, nothing. It is problematic for my R&D notebooks, as they often grow into several hundred pages long, and then it becomes extremely impractical and distracting, just due to a lack of such a simple, but necessary function.
@@MyDeepGuide Agree! the same here. Tagging would be my single reason to start working with R2. R&D is an iterative process and ideas get spreaded so easliy in different but related projects.

Btw: can you please add keyboard layouts for more than just two (!) languages to your list of feature requests, plz? I have the feeling, that they might listen to you. And it should be an easy task. Thx for your work!
Alas, that is just an impression, I'm afraid. I have been submitting stuff for 3 years now the same way everyone else does, via their support / feature request system.
Do you have any tips on how to make our actual notes SEARCHABLE? This is so important for my work, to be able to refer back to my notes (and I take ALOT of notes, daily, and draw many educational diagrams that need to be made digital later). I'm on the verge of purchasing this, as it's almost perfect for my purposes, but ability to search key words to access past notes is really something that can make or break the return on my investment on the product. Can anyone help with ideas for this?
Unfortunately there isn't a workaround for this. It simply doesn't do it, so for that you should look at either Supernote A5X or Boox Note Air, or Boox Note 3. Toy can find reviews of all of them here on my channel.

Hello, unfortunately no, and remarkable doesn't have any functionality that would help with this issue. That's one of several quite big issues that the platform has. All of these things can easily be fixed from the software side of things, but they just aren't doing any of them, for years now, which is terrible to see.
You can grab a page from your notebook and separate it out into its own short notebook that you can name as you please. The name can be related, like if you were in notebook 01 to start with, you can name this one 01.01. Topic Name. The way you grab the page is: within the notebook, select Page Overview. Then select the page. Then "Move To". Then "New Notebook". Voilà! FIxed that! (You can also apply this to a bunch of selected pages.)
