I remember playing this game as a kid, OMG it's BAD, couldn't make it very far my self, got stuck on that "What the Heck" Fire Demon level, couldn't figure out where to go for the life of me. At the exact spot you skipped actually, I assume it had something to do with that little sparkling hook now that I've seen this again. Didn't have internet or youtube or anything back then, you were just on your own.
One of the best old-school games. I remember beating it in middle school and telling my friends about it. No one believed me so I had to do it again with a couple of friends watching lol.
The water level with the submarine and the final level with all the spikes and the constant swinging from hook to hook were both hard as nails. Took me absolutely ages to beat this game as a kid.
I still love the art, music, and humor, but the gameplay did have collision detection issues which made it really really difficult to beat. I still have nightmares of the underwater glass submarine level.
why are there so many people getting upset weather ty likes the game or not?? why is that something that pisses people off if he thinks its bad? isnt that his opinion? plus if you feel pissed off just click off the video. lol I love tons of games he has played which he pretty much hated but I dont give a fuck, its all for our entertainment in the end of the day and how he feels about a game shouldn't change how someone else feels about that said game. Just relax and enjoy the content and be happy :)
This was one of the three Sega games I had as a kid. Earthworm Jim, Comix Zone, and Mortal Kombat 2. My poor sister was given The Lion King and the Aladin game. Needless to say I got really good at Scorpion while she mastered Sub Zero in MK2.
So I hope Comix Zone (which I don't know) was a fair game, because every other of that list is cheaply hard as f*ck to beat. From all that list, just mk2 is not from Shiny Entertainment @$$holes, but that didn't free it from being as much as cheap as the others.
I just played this God damn game today... And it is the most frustrating f****** game ever created that gets a lot of praise. I love the character in the cartoon but the game is just all types of unfun bad level design
I used to love playing with this game as a kid, but, like most retro games when I was that age, I never beat it. I later got the remaster on xbox360, which looked way nicer in my opinion.
Funny rage as always. I remember this game, and I loved it back then. You should give the Genesis version of Beauty and the Beast a go (might make for some awesome moments).
@@railtracer4189 Yeah so do a LOT of people! If Earthworm Jim wasn’t a good game and people didn’t love it then we wouldn’t have got sequels, a tv show, a new upcoming tv show and a long awaited forth installment! People LOVE Earthworm Jim!
Loved EWJ as a kid. Both the first and the second. Probably completed both of them 10 times each. The thing about old games is they are very pattern oriented, so if you don't excel in pattern recognition, then you're going to have an overall miserable time xD. That, and you need patience - something that is almost impossible to learn, since it's wired into who we are.
I just tried this game and hated it. Seems like bad game design. Floaty platforming, obscure mechanics, blind jumps and cheap desths. Everyone else i hear talking about this game seems to love it. Perhaps its a nostalgia thing. I never played this game as a kid although i loved the cartoon
I played it on stream last night, I hadn't played it since 2011, and the minute I got to the Trashcan Boss, I instantly asked: "How did young me beat this? This is horrible!"
I remember renting it. Really liked the cartoon and it looked amazing. But yeah, I had similar issues with how it controls, the collision detection etc. Wanted to like it and rented it again some time but didnt make it past the first couple of levels and couldnt be bothered anymore.
I wanted this game in the worst way when it came out, then my cousin got it and I couldn't even beat the first stage. Too bad they came up with a cool looking character and could've ran with it like sonic, mario, crash, and spyro; if they'd have made the game playable. Wasted potential franchise imo.
You know this game is considered a classic right and is held in high regard and was popular enough to get two sequels, a bunch of ports, a cartoon, a forth game for the Intellivision Amico and a new cartoon which just got announced? If this game wasn’t good and people didn’t like it then it wouldn’t have had such a big following and sequels and two cartoons. Earthworm Jim is considered a great right up there with Mario, Sonic Crash and Rayman!

This was a game I always heard about but I've never seen this played before. It comes off now as a typical 90s game being weird for the sake of being weird.
Good the 90’s were a great time period where developers actually finished games on release and didn’t put in microtransactions, games we’re actually unique back then. There’s nothing wrong with being weird, I’d rather have a game be weird for the sake of just being weird than every modern game going for realism and being boring!
Hated this game as a kid. The bungee jump sequence is especially awful. It controls terribly and the devs could've made something cool but they chose to make something obnoxious. Oh well, the creator turned out to be a jerk anyway apparently.
