I gotta say yesterday was the first time I seriously considered the possibility of them folding. They likely need a talent rebuild, so we are talking like three years until they are a playoff team MAYBE. Attendance could plummet even harder. I live in the southern tier and absolutely nobody talks about or even remembers the sabres at this point. It's a calamity.

13 years ago, there was hope. Then it became frustration, then anger. I think it then went to sadness and then to laughter. All these emotions are fine. However, we are now getting very close to apathy. Once that happens, bye bye Sabres.

100% agree. I think we're starting to see that like all of these current players we were somewhat looking forward to just aren't that good. I also think we've had an issue with rushing prospects because we've been so atrocious that management is probably more desperate than they would normally be with other teams.

I've been saying this for the last 2 years. As soon as we signed Cozens to 7m a year I knew it was over for the next coming years. Too much money on undeserving players and they had messed up all the developmental stages by never employing good coaches or good veterans to teach them how to play. the high draft picks clouded theyre head and the sabres assumed they were all good to come straight to the league. Wasted Youth.

Mid-Season? How about tomorrow? Kevyn Adams has shown he's got no fucking clue on how to build an NHL roster. People need to stop calling Columbus a bad team because they beat the real worst team in the NHL. And yes Joe, the season is over. They're not good enough to dig themselves out of this hole. I'd rather they forfeit the season than try and salvage what's left. I don't care about the draft, let them take the year off, go back to basics and re-learn how to play the game. They can't trade anyone because no one wants what we have and no one wants to come here. This is not funny, or is it a joke it's a fucking tragedy. They're ripping the hearts out of this fanbase. It's hockey Hell. I'd say let's set up a day to go down to the arena and picket the owner and the team. What do we want? Adams fired! when do we want it? Now! What do we want? SELL THE TEAM TERRY! When do we want it? 13 years ago!!!!!! It's a travesty how bad this team is being run. There needs to be a change!

The only problem i have with firing Adams is who is gonna do it differently? What GM can come here and get players to want to come here? Are players not coming here cause of Adams or the team? Let's be honest, the GM isn't the biggest problem, its the 13-year drought. Gotta get to the playoffs, and then even Adams can get good players in here to help. Cozens is in his head and needs to sit and talk with a psychologist, I'm hoping Quinn is still working through the Achille injury or he is also playing scared. It's really the 2nd line that's holding us back. I cant understand why its one thing all the time every other game. Its either the Offense cant score, D cant defend or the goalies play like they belong in the ECHL. This team can never have all 3 phases going at once, aside from the Panthers game and 1 game outta 6 so far cant be the trend here or it will never work. I still love this team but who can really fix this? I cant think of anyone except the players need to perform correctly and get us in the playoffs. Too many times switching HC and GMs at different times so the players are drafted for the right coach but the HC is fired, new one comes in and then cant use this roster so the GM drafts players for this HC and then it takes too long and the GM gets fired and then they hire a new GM and that GM doesnt like ceratin players that were drafted so he trades them and new players come in and they dont fit the HC so again the HC gets fired and the cycle continues. Wanna know why Regier and Ruff had so much success? Continuity, they built and coached the team for 16 years, they drafted and traded and built it for Ruff's style and Regier made those trades and drafts focused on Ruff's style. Hire a GM and a HC at the same time and keep it for 5 years or so and then you might see the change necessary to get back to the playoffs. Too much switching mid 5 year plan, stick it out, it takes times to overhaul a roster. Adams built the team this way, so if you get a new HC then its either the players or Adams, if its the players that dont fit, take out the ones that dont and get ones that do and keep Adams to get the right ones and keep continuity, if its Adams then fire him and get a GM that is familiar with Ruff and what he wants and do the same. In the end, if its the players, then firing Adams wont change it cause the new GM can do the same and Adams actually drafts very well and his trades arent terrible so maybe just clean up the roster and keep the HC and GM. Go Sabres!

The MOST frustrating thing is that the problem is not so obvious. I’ve often thought that they lack offensive talent, but they’re scoring; their defense looks bad, but they have tons of talent; GMKA says the right things, but the talent/leadership/commitment doesn’t seem to be there. One thing is clear: goaltending is mediocre at best-unacceptable for a team that dares to dream playoffs.

Where to start!! Been following Sabres since the beginning so not new to this neighborhood. Adams has done nothing except make alot of other teams Stanley Cup winners/contenders. Tired of seeing Sabres draft picks shine in other places. There is a proverbial all star team of recent draftees playing somewhere else. Sabres are weak with no fight or push back. They reached for Lindy this summer. What was the hurry? You maybe could have gotten Keefe. But no one else was taking Lindy. Watching the Sabres and their effort is worse than watching a bad AHL team. I think Hershey could beat the Sabres. They are a laughing stock and that is a shame because Buffalo and its loyal fans deserve so much more. Good bye Lindy and good bye Adam’s. Thank you.

Great Video. I thought that GM Kevyn Adams did A Decent Job, when he got Hall, Staal & others, but, he ruined it by Not Firing Ralph Krueger, who had wasted all of That Talent. I'm also of the view, that he did A Decent Job in getting some of these players (Thompson, Tuch & others) rather than only losing O'Reilly, Eichel & others for nothing, however, rather than building on that, Adams is only making tweaks the last 2 seasons, rather than make A Few Major Changes. Therefore I think that it's time to have him relieved of His GM Duties, even if they keep him in a capacity. I think that they should move on from him completely, even if getting Lindy Ruff, it's too little too late. Please let me know what you think.

  • @LenInTheBuff

This team is no better than when Adams took over...if you can't improve the team in 4.5 yrs fire him. Pegula keeps hiring GM's with no experience and he still hasn't learned experience counts. It's time to trade some of these players Samuelsson sux, you hardly hear Quinn's name during the game, Thompson takes a dumb penalty and Pitt capitalized on it to win in OT. The team plays sloppy and yet the big word was accountability since Ruff was hired. Adam's comes back with the same d-men that were piss poor last year and the same asst coach who was responsible for them.
If Pegula has lost interest in the team and only cares about the Bills and his new stadium so be it...sell the team to someone who cares and will keep the team here.
There comes a time to grow a set and be an owner and not a fan boy. Adams is probably a nice guy as was Okposo and Girgensons but there is a time you cut ties and Pegula doesn't seem to understand that. Scotty Bowman in his prime couldn't get this bunch into the playoffs. I could go on and on but what's the use as things will never change as long as Pegula is the owner.

Does it matter if we fire Adams? It’s not like any GM is going to overcome the systemic problems that we’re facing in trying to perpetually rebuild. We’re looking at more high first round draft picks and eventually trading Dahlin, Cozens, Power for even draft picks. No significant free agent signings should be expected given what free agency has become in the league. Hopefully Ruff can get better play out of the kids but we are effectively an AHL team. We develop young players like Reinhart and Eichel to win Cups elsewhere…

I doubt it but Adams is on his third coach and so far other than the outlier yr in 22-23 the same issues are still plaguing them today which you would think would have improved with experience. Team still struggles under pressure on the boards in the D zone, lack of O zone sustained puck possession, erratic SOG, PP being poo poo and PK is now in the 70s percentage. Adams on more than one occasion has stated he knows how to build winning teams but the pudding says no proof. He brought Lindy in to save his hide and all it did was expose how the team is not built correctly. Sidenote, the 3rd and 4th lines are better, that's not sarcasm. Much better than what they've had and they are contributing. This team needs Cozens, Quinn and Samuelsson to get hot, only way other teams would be interested in trading for them.

Firing Adams isn't gonna fix it if it's the players, Adams has built this roster for three different HCs, see a problem there? Each coach likes and utilizes each player differently. Ever wonder why Regier and Ruff worked well together? They did it for 16 years! They worked off each other. Ruff: I like this guy, I think he would fit this team and how I'm coaching them" Regier: "I'll go get him" you need a HC and GM working together for at least 5 years solidly. You can fire Adams but it's the players that are failing the HC cause they were built and signed long term for Granato, they like to play a different style than Ruff. You either have the wrong HC for this group or the wrong group for the HC. Adams can't get the right roster construction if 3 different HCs want 3 different systems. I don't think a different GM is gonna make the trades needed that Adams couldn't cause it's Adams inability to do so, it's the 13 years playoffs drought that's the problem. Only way to fix this is make the playoffs, you have to make the playoffs. You can fire and trade left and right but if the result isn't the playoffs and the HC to GM continuity isn't there it will never work. You can fire Adams, Ruff isn't staying for 5 more years IMO so the next GM would have to build for the next HC, is that Appert? Someone else? Need to know that before you fired Adams and hire a new GM, you need to know who you are building the roster for for the next 5 years or this will keep happening

No shortage of depth of quality players here..the failure to hire an energetic Head Coach and staff has been stunning. Watching players go to other teams and win Cup.
Really disillusioning. I am NHL fan at large who grew up in New England played Women’s college hockey in the 70’s and went on to work in ice hockey in LA and growing sport in California. Retired to Vegas and VGK here came along some years later.
It’s on some level hard to fail to the extent this Sabres organization has done that. If you have an enthusiastic management group it is so possible to succeed. In LA we began with a young entrepreneur who developed a recreational league and ice rinks. Kings and Lakers practice facility was land he secured after success of local hockey.
It is so doable to succeed here. But ownership needs to overhaul his management and bring along a coaching staff. Either Bruce Boudreau or Gerard Gallant are players coaches who could generate optimism and fun and plenty of winning for your fanbase. It would be a place to start a much deserved reset.

@@steveb1962Hope you don’t mind but I’m gonna toss ya guys some fun stats I found while looking at MoneyPuck.
But as of right now the Sabres are in the top half of the league for 5 on 5 and in their Power Play surprisingly as they are finally generating chances, even though they haven’t scored. Their Penalty Kill lines and their Power Play need work still, and that’s primarily what is holding them back, but it’s not as hopeless as previous years is what I’m saying.
But also to add on, it’s as they have said, the top 6 is learning and adjusting to a brand new gameplan every night. We’re 6 games in, let’s not hit panic just yet. There’s still a lot of time, and if they win 3-4 in a row then it almost makes up for this.

For 2 seasons, bad habits have taken over this team. I don't think it'll take half a season, but this team might take going into November to get things straightened out. Even a trade or 2 might have to happen to get things going in the right direction.

Don’t say that. Worse thing possibly to say. It’s about supporting the team regardless. Not letting a franchise move out of the area. Makes no sense. No reason to care then. The team is what makes anyone care. Even if you don’t. You stick with the bad times to get to the good times. How sweet it is.
