    Perfect explanation of what I was missing with my delay pedal. Set it down to one repeat and it sounds awesome. Thanks for your video !

      I wish someone would cut and paste his videos into a format suitable for website / app and include the tab. Danny's video is good..His family would get the royalties too.

    Did you do any rockabilly licks videos? Your teaching is very clear and easy to follow.

    Great vid! This helped me a lot. I have tap tempo on my memory man. It’s still kinda new so I’m still learning it. For the note increments, did you say it would be better to set for quarter note or eight note delay?

    Believe it or not, Scotty Moore actually had an amp with a built in tape delay, built by Ray Butts. I think it was called the Echosonic and Butts hand built a small number of them. IIRC, Chet Atkins and Roy Orbison also had one. The Echoplex was the closest thing to it, and I've had a few. They sound great but were high maintenance and inconvenient.

      yeah man! photo of the Echosonic at 2:10 in this vid. I've never owned an echoplex but sure would like to have one some day.

      @@VirtualWoodshed Cool, yeah I missed the pic the 1st time through. I had a few Echoplexs - tube and solid state. One would sometimes make this strange propeller airplane sound and I would kick it to make it stop, lol.

      I wanna say I watched a video on RUclips on Scotty Moore & I guess at one point he used a bass amp...strange maybe, but just something I have heard...wondering if true or not...be cool just using what's there, raw...so awesome of a sound...

    That does sound good man, tho I think your setting is a bit too much, it gets a little messy when doing too much together, but I get the idea :)
    Thanks for the video, and nice playin'

      Wilhelm glad you enjoyed it. You can certainly turn down the intensity if it’s too much. But check out Scotty Moore and Cliff Gallup. Those guys kept it pretty saturated! 🎶

      I honestly agree...the echo has to be ever so slightly lower than the initial note but more importantly, a hair less "perfectly" reproduced...some digital delays are just too clean!

    Ha in the beginning of the video, before he showed the Tele I thought that's a Gretsch guitar.

    • @VirtualWoodshed
      @VirtualWoodshed  4 года назад

      T. I. N Mateus haha that’s a great comment man! Tele’s are such chameleons. You can imitate just about anything with them! Or they can totally be their own thing of course. Probably the most versatile guitar ever made. 🎶

    Maybe I did miss it but what about level and feedback. Feedback at 0 I guess but level? So if BPM is 240 the delay time will be 120? And reverb setting?

  • @BrianDupoux
    @BrianDupoux 5 лет назад +1

    Can you tell me the Mix control setting to get to that tone in the Dl4?

    • @VirtualWoodshed
      @VirtualWoodshed  5 лет назад +1

      Brian Dupoux Sorry for the late reply. Somehow I missed this comment. I generally run the mix control so that the delay signal is almost as loud as the dry signal. You really need it to pop. Hope this helps.

    • @VirtualWoodshed

      You mean reverb? No. The DL-4 is delay only.

    It doesn't sound like authentic rockabilly slap back.
    I do think the delay makes a difference. The old tape delays of the 50s and 60s had a bit of worbel to them.
    I have two different tape simulation pedals a Roland Space Echo RE 201 and Dan Electro Reel Echo.
