as an idahoan i disagree and it bothers me how anti-"other/outsider" some of the ppl in our state are. so much hate for californians and outsiders by some people here. But, ive seen a fair few that rise above that with "refugees welcome" bumper stickers for example. so it seems pretty split. You can find some nice and welcoming people in the bigger cities, but theres definitely some people with some stubborn and unjust and harmful views

Yeah, Idaho is weird because it doesn't have a distinct look to it. Any part of the state looks like other states. Anywhere volcanic is gonna look like Hawaii, the southeast looks like the Great Plains, anywhere near rivers looks like the South or any other lowland river system, the Panhandle looks like Washington, the southwest (around Boise and Twin Falls) looks like Nevada. The only reason I have any accuracy on my Idaho rounds is because I've lived here for 2+ years and know what a good chunk of the state looks like
The style of the apartment in Idaho was extremely similar to the style of apartment I live in, in California. The main issue was how green the trees were, though it's believable next to water.
As a Idaho PNW resident, just some food for thought those pine trees in the Idaho shot are specifically Ponderosa Pine, and they have a very unique bark that make them easy to distinguish from any other pine tree. These trees only grow east of the cascade mountain range in dryer mountain climates, you will never see them near the coast.
I can see why Idaho is tough on this game. When I moved here, I realized it's a mashup of Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Midwest, and Southern styles. It kinda feels like everywhere I've ever been.
It’s so funny that you say those house are coastal! In a way they are. They are right on the Boise River and that path you are on is called the green belt. I pass that location all the time!! I literally live on Boise state campus like a mile or two down the path!

The reason the houses look coastal is because everyone from coastal states keep moving here!
