@jasper426 It was not. Two reasons: 1) Michael Played a purple ESP M II, which he used since 2000... I have seen 2 live performances from 1998 and he still used his white one... 2) Not sure if this was a VHS Tape or DVD, but I strongly believe this was actually still a VHS tape, therefore the quality is what it is. Plus on the cover of the guitar chapter tape ( only picture I could find blog.live4guitar.com/article/interview-with-michael-romeo-symphony-x ) is a date 2000.7.26, so I would strongly believe this is the date of manufacture or production at least... :) cheers, have a nice day :)

How. It's simply a show trick, it's literally just as easy to do from the normal side. People do it to look cooler in the eyes of non-guitarists. (Romeo is still a hell of a player)
@@whatisanamelol Over the neck harmonic is like the most simple show trick you can do. He has plenty of time to do it, easiest part of the solo, and it's just a simple harmonic, I don't get why you picked the least impressive part about the solo as "heaven". Next thing you will be impressed by is a Floyd Rose dive bomb. You said "heaven" like playing it over the neck would change how it sounds, it doesn't. And I knew how to play this song 15 years ago (the easiest song on the album, I also knew "Of Sins and Shadows"), I'm not gonna relearn it just because you ask to, I focus on my own prog band. Even Kirk Hammett can do over the neck harmonics. Normally it annoys me when people do it, I can forgive Romeo though because he is actually good, but it's still a cheap circus trick to fool non-musicians into thinking you did something difficult. Worst of all, it serves zero musical purpose because it sounds exactly the same from the correct side of the neck. Good players have economic movements, why suddenly using the dumbest possible way to play a note is considered "heaven" I don't get it. Why not appreciate the other parts of his playing, why focus on the least impressive thing he did. Seems that you play ok rhythm guitar, but from your comment I could have sworn you don't play at all. Over the neck harmonics, pick scratching, dive bombs... top 3 things that impress people who don't play
Whammy bar harmonics; you pluck the string either with your finger or pick, dip with the tremolo and then, while letting the pitch raise, you touch the string somewhere where you can get a natural harmonic. In this case, Romeo did it at about 3rd fret.
Michael Romeo absolutely blows the lid off of any modern "virtuosos". Effortless, without any goofy schizophrenic crap.
This kind of video is what I call "The Relic". Understanders will understand.

@@martinopinto6323 The Relic is another song from Symphony X
I watched this for the first time like 17 years ago and am still as blown away by it now as i was back then.
Same, except now I thought maybe I could play it.
Except slow mode needs to be slower....
The intro has pure classical vibe. Because it is classic. Perfection.
7/4
his technique and neck position are flawless!
Some twats on forums say he's sloppy. This guy was and is so underrated.

Brutal! Seguramente yngwie deve de estar orgulloso de un legado tan bestial como este guitarrista qué juega a tocar la guitarra tan genialmente loco!
I think he was in another dimension.
I wanted to buy the same guitar as him but then it was worth €3.3k...
Moss same bro, but there is also a cheaper versione but without the logo of Michael Romeo
He makes it look so easy but it’s hard to play
No sabia que mi tia tocaba asi de bien.

Looks ridicously easy when he plays it, lol
Great chops.
