    Hello and welcome to "The Unported Playlist"
    So we decided to extend this playlist from 10 games to does it even matter what the count is anymore? lol it's a lot! Retro gaming knows no bounds!
    On this episode we are looking at Power Instinct V, also known as Goketsuji Ichizoku Matsuri Senzo Kuyou. It's an absolutely amazing fighting game from Noise Factory and serves as the direct sequel to Matrimelee on the Neo Geo AES. I absolutely love this one! It's weird and quirky and awesome all in one game! It was never ported home nor did it ever come to America. It's a Japanese exclusive arcade fighting game! It's a modern take on a retrogaming classic.

    Never heard of this game but the art and character design look great.

      My rule is that any time someone says they haven't heard of a game I post I insist they go play it :) I want a 100 word essay after you play...I'll be waiting ;)

    The look reminds me of those Naomi/DC fighting games like Mavel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK 2, KoF DM 1999, and KoF '99 Evolution.

      The sprites are in part borrowed from the Neo Geo game with sprites made in the same era so makes perfect sense. Good eye!

    Very interesting, I didn´t know there was a true sequel to Matrimelee, only that PS2 remix...

      The PS2 remix is a bummer too. Better to just play the OG Matrimelee. But yeah a sequel exists and it's legit

    I only vaguely knew there was another entry after Matrimelee, but had never seen it in action. Power Instinct is a fun series, and this looks like a game worth checking out.

    • @VideoGameEsoterica

      100% worth checking out. It's my fav 2D fighting game franchise. I know it's not mechanically the best but style wise I love it

      also it's dumb easy to get it running on any modern PC, which is great

  • @dbnpoldermans4120

    Cool thing is that this can be played natively on really old low spec dumpster pc's running Windows XP.
    The origirdware was just a pc with a muted Windows version as I recall.

    You never mentioned that the protagonists of the Power Instinct series are a set of kick ass grannies!

  • @jessragan6714

    The super moves are really out there in this one, like when the chubby, homely prince gets served a seven course meal while the opponent only gets to taste the edge of the tables as they're cranked out from the side of the screen.
    I'm not really a Power Instinct fan, but the games sometimes have the uncomfortable compulsion of a fifteen car pile-up. I shouldn't watch, yet I can't look away!

    • @VideoGameEsoterica

      Haha see that’s what I love so much about the series. It’s just “out there”. So weird, so unique and also is a competent fighting game

    Not sure if you would be able to help or not, but there isn't a lot of info about this game out there so I might as well try here. Do you know anything about getting two controllers properly set up for 1 on 1 play on a Windows 11 PC? I've been able to get two ps4 controllers working at the same time, but trying any other fighting game board like the Brook Zero PI makes either the Brook share buttons with the ps4 controller or the ps4 controller share buttons with the Brooke. If you don't know anything about this you can just ignore this lol. Great video by the way, very well written and presented you've definitely gotten a new subscriber.

      Probably USB conflicts. You may need to go into device manager and change IDs / com ports / etc

    What I really find cool about Power Instinct is the combination of Silly with SNK style cool characters. Olaf is probably one of the coolest kick based character's I've ever seen in Fighting games and it's just really neat he doesn't feel out of place in the game with the Furry Dog Man named Poochie.

    Finally snagged a copy of Matrimelee from Japan for my MVS past week after completely obsessing over it on MiSTer, just love the music, hard hitting sound FX and general humorous presentation! You’re spot on about Cici, such an annoying boss. Definately going to check this one out aswell! Does Debu make an appearance in this game?

  • @inubass
    @inubass 2 года назад

    Team Pandory just reviewed one of these Taito Type X3 machines. The machine itself is basically a dedicated PC with the noisiest fan to exist at the time.
    Which makes the lack of a port even more annoying.

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 года назад +1

      Yes there is no “porting” that is needed if you just dropped them on Steam. It’s just an x86 executable that looks for specific hardware or else it won’t pass security checks

  • @GuiltyFighterX

    WOW I love the Power Instinct series and I didn't know they made another after Matrimelee. Is this one already in MAME?

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 года назад +1

      I don’t believe it’s in MAME. You can use Teknoparrot or the Type X launcher. Warning though; both throw an anti-virus warning. It’s a false positive but you’ll have to fight with Windows to let you run it

    • @seanthiem1176

      Just set the install folder as off limits to your security scan and you should be good

  • @HornHeaDD
    @HornHeaDD 2 года назад

    So is it technically possible to *build* a TypeX PC? Get a JPAC and all that? Would it be the same as building a MAME PC?

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 года назад

      It’s possible but so many of the parts are SO specific building a launchable Type X/X2 would cost more than buying one.
      But turning a Windows 10 machine into a pseudo Type X2? Free

    • @HornHeaDD
      @HornHeaDD 2 года назад

      @@VideoGameEsoterica Ahh, I see. I guess thats what I meant, just using a standard off-the-shelf PC type build. Good to know. Thanks!

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 года назад

      Yes you could easily off the shelf pc build one with a launcher. It won’t be identical to how a Type X works but in a lot of ways it’s an easier way to enjoy the games.
      But for authenticity building a Type X2 multi is the way to go. It’ll multi the Type X and X2 and you can drop it in a cab easily
