Introducing the many new plants I've brought home this spring: • Introducing the many n...
I'm a plant hobbyist passionate about plant care, cats and ice cream. I plan to post weekly throughout the year, subscribe to see more of my collection and watch my plant-y growth!
Oh! And I'm also on Instagram: / smallcityplants
I know so much what you were expressing about the beauty and utter joy that
The Caudata experience played out for you. This is exactly what plants do. I love them so much and can’t express the profundity of that to just anybody. Thank you for doing that.
I totally understand that feeling you have. I am watching my plants grow and it makes me have this excitement each day on what I am going to find.
I love the Australia Lisa❤
Caudata made me cry too . In the mid of winter, she kept shooting out these pink flashy leaves. She made me miss the beauty of Falls. You have beautiful collection. Thanks for sharing.
I have the New Guinea ghost and it’s such a fast grower I love it.
I've heard that! I'm sure I'll have one before long 😄
I am in Alberta and love your hoyas and would love to see more.
Will keep that in mind for future videos ;)
You should smell Hoya blooms in the evening they say that is when they smell is strongest.😊😊😊
It's so true! My Hoya thomsonii makes the entire house sweet at night. Some of my hoyas I've never noticed a scent on though, or if I do it's very mild even at night.
Hello, I totally agree with the joy in your heart you feel when your Hoyas( or plants in general) is doing well. I have Hoyas also in my bedrm ( the sunstressing ones) & I lay there & stare at them because their so beautiful & makes me happy.I have a huge bloom on my Carnosa & like one of your subscribers said the scent is stronger in the evening. The scent of chocolate. You have beautiful Hoyas..Thank You
When people ask why I have so many plants it's so hard to describe that feeling but you're right! I have a hoya carnosa and some carnosa types like krimson queen and krimson princess that I would love to see bloom.
I think the issue is not enough light but I moved them recently so 🤞they'll bloom like yours soon!
I love the Australis Lisa,I love it growing up a trellis! Loved your collection! Natalie Australia 🇦🇺 Loved all your class containers, what a great idea!
Thanks! I'm definitely leaning towards the trellis :)
True. Acheh is in indonesian sumatera island.
Right on with your ideas about common hoyas. I love a beautiful carnosa ❤️
My favorites right now are my krimson queen and parasitica splash. My favorite unusual hoyas are retusa and rotundiflora. They're both easy and funky.
The rotundiflora is one of my favs too - personally I have found it to be a slower grower but I do have it in slightly lower light than my other hoya. Fingers crossed for blooms one day!
Loved your video, thank you 😊
Just found your channel. I love to see a fellow Canadian doing plant videos. ❤
Thank you! Hope you're enjoying the long weekend :)
So nice video ❤
Hi Francesca, I’m so obsessed with my Australis ‘lisa’ and as we’re coming into winter in Australia I’m guessing I won’t get much growth until next spring. The plan was to hang it in my bedroom window and have it trailing. The other hoya I’m interested to see in your collection is Pubicalyx and if mine grows even half that much I’d be over the moon. What a fabulous plant you have there, wow! Thanks so much for sharing your favourite Hoyas, I enjoyed watching.
Thank you! I often seen Australis Lisa trailing but right now I'm leaning towards climbing - but that will probably change several times of the course of my growing it ha
Pubicalyx has shocked me - it was a few small cuttings and did nothing for ages, but once I got rid of those flat mites she exploded! Hope yours has a glow up next season
🤞
I have a Australis lisa mine is about as big as yours and is set up to hang I am hoping to trail it once it bigger
My australis Lisa has a small trellis, but it's just two plants in a pot, smaller than yours. I love it, too! I found a really pretty trellis that has a crystal hanging off it.
Sounds beautiful! I'd love to explore some ways to may be trellis' prettier...
"Babe wake up, Small City Plants has just posted" i LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
You're so sweet thank you!
💚🍃
Just discovered your channel! I love me some Hoya. My current favorite weird one is my Imbricata! And I agree that Lisa should climb. Such a great, easy plant! I was sad to lose my Caudata Sumatra and Gunung Gading cuttings.
Oh no! Sorry those ones didn't work out for you - I have heard people struggle with the Caudata Sumatra maybe I've just been lucky.
Imbricata is a weird one for sure 😅 hope it blooms for you!
Your nova ghost is so gorgeous 🎉 mine is a baby of 4 leaves. Where u got the clear trellis? They look so good together 😊
Thank you! My trellis is an Arka trellis from Propagation diaries, but I have seen other places sell them on Etsy with the label 'clear acrylic trellis' - hope that helps and your nova ghost explodes with growth!
❤🎉😊
😍
Can you tell me about your sulfur treatments! I am pretty sure I have flat mites as well. 😢
The gunung gading is a really fantastic Hoya the sunstress is so pretty. My favorites right now are my hybrids that I bought where one parent is known but the other is not. They are some of my biggest and vibrant Hoyas right now. Also do you have or have an opinion on the Hoya incrassata? I know it reminds me a lot of the Hoya Lisa but the variegation is somewhat different.
That's really cool! I love that there are so many more "unknowns" around - I'd actually love to try hybridizing some of my hoyas but after watching a couple videos on it I'm not so sure of my chances
I've seen incrassata around, the moonshadow definitely has autralis lisa vibes but I think the shape of the leaves is putting me off it a bit (though I love the yellow flowers) - one of those ones I'd want to see in person before buying for sure.
I have several hoyas that I love...however, they seem to grow so slowly for me. Mine are all hanging plants. I noticed you have your up on trellises. Do you think hoyas do better growing staked & upward? great video.
GENERALLY (there are definitely exceptions), I think most hoya will grow better on a trellis, to mimic climbing up trees in their natural environment. That being said, I have seen some gorgeous lush hanging hoyas, but I've found climbing is more natural to most.
@@smallcityplants i shall give it a shot
Where did you get your Hoya sweatshirt? I need that!
I got it locally from @thesiamplants - I adore it!
Do you keep your plants in pon always submerged in water?
No, and especially not when I'm transitioning into pon. I usually keep a reservoir at the bottom with about an inch of water and use a wick for the pon so absorb the water as it dries out :)
Thank you so much for replying 💚
Where do you get your Hoya
Thank you! Sorry for the delay in responding (been on vacation!) but I get my hoyas from many places - often trades, FB marketplace, but Crystal Star Nursery is one of my favourite hoya sellers in Ontario
