This song. So I was married young. I was 18, she was 17. We met in 1979 and got married in 85. She died a few weeks after we got married. Her birthday was in October. This song has always reminded me of her from the first time I heard it. Sometimes it makes me cry, sometimes it doesn't. But it always leaves me feeling wistful and melancholy.
He is such a heartthrob ❤😭🥰
Whenever I hear this song, it always brings tears to my eyes. This song is so beautiful.
When you first put up the backdrop of the fall leaves in the trees, I automatically thought of this song. Only a hopeless romantic Barry Manilow fans would feel this way. And it even hurts more when you have loved like this. Even now after 40 years I still remember her in October when she left and I will always love her.
I hope you end up doing weekend in New England it’s my favorite Barry Manilow song
I am a Barry Manilow superfan and this is his best song. I cry. Every. Single. Time.
This is a beautiful song.
One of my favorite songs by Barry Manilow.
You should try Barry Manilow's "Even Now", "The Old Songs", "Weekend In New England", and "Looks Like We Made It."
Love his music 💙❤️
Got to see him in concert in 2001 front row. amazing!
Love this song! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
I always get all melancholy when I hear this song because I think of my daddy. We lost him on October 13th and he always dreaded October because everything started to die. He passed away at the tender age of 67 two days after my momma's birthday. I lost her in November.
God, I miss them so much! 🙏💔🥺😭
Honey, I'm so sorry you lost both your parents so close together. I lost my mother 33 years ago when she was 56, and my father 5 years when he was 83. It's hard and it's painful no matter when you lose them,. Eventually, the pain eases although you never stop missing them.
He's got the cutest smile
Yes!!! I say it every time I see him❤😭🥰
You also should try from him: "Somewhere down the road", "Even now" & "The Old Song"
I'm literally watching someone fall in love with Barry. You're just another lucky victim, girl. Enjoy it.
Barry's Ready to Take a Chance Again and Weekend In New England are so beautiful. Add them to your list! You can thank us later. lol
Jayy shows total class to agree to listen to this song instead of all the unmusical crap that's out there. This has less to do with Manilow's singing than the quality of composition of this song. Johnny Mercer 1909-1976, who wrote these lyrics and passed away without ever hearing them, had given this to Barry Manilow to write the melody. Mercer was one of America's most prolific lyricists, songwriters of the 20th century. He wrote the lyrics to more than fifteen hundred songs, including compositions for movies and Broadway shows. Mercer received Academy Awards for Best Original Song for the following:
“On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe” with Harry Warren for The Harvey Girls, 1946.
“In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening” with Hoagy Carmichael for Here Comes the Groom, 1951.
“Moon River” with Henry Mancini for Breakfast at Tiffany's, 1961
Beautiful song
Love your reaction. I would love to see you react to, unknown brother by the black keys. You'll definitely dig it
I'd like to suggest you listen to Josh Groban who is an even greater talent although that is hard to imagine.
Love Josh Groban!
