Don't drink the ice water in Manila!... The last day I was in the Philippines I took one last sip of my drink... The ice had melted... Thank God I was ok on my flight home... But once I got home it was non-stop for 6 days... The only thing that helped was Imodium... Have a safe trip!
Stunning hotel Gabe ❤ pity about NZ but hey, that's life 👍🏼 safe travels dude 🎉 ps. You might not have millions of views to each of your videos but you do give a realistic feel to wherever you go, i appreciate that👍🏼
@@lbunnygordon1133 Plus the food/service is rubbish. I grew up there. Wellington is the about the only decent city, but's it's gone backwards ever since they got rid of the electric (cable) bus network. The country is basically run by boring, white, male, baby boomer tossers.
I live in Cebu City and we aren't the biggest fans of Mactan. Overpriced resorts and the beaches aren't that great, no public beaches all controlled by resorts now. I do recommend "Cafe Cappuccino" and The Mactan Newtown has a grocery store near you. We enjoy exploring Bantayan Island, Camotes Islands, and the Chocolate HIlls in Bohol using Cebu City as a base. You would probably love "man made forest" in Bohol if you haven't been already
I always enjoy the days where you’re venturing off to another country, going through airports. I think it’s the anticipation. Great apartment at a great price. 👍🏻
I really like that hotel in the beginning. I liked the glossy wall panels they used, which are smudge resistant. I also liked how they staggered the rugs in the hallway, instead of making it just one long runner. It looks cool and I'm sure it's easier to repair too.
I live in Dumaguete, Philippines at the moment man. I’ve been here for about 6 months. It’s an interesting town. You would probably enjoy Siquijor nearby.
@ It's great, I'm a RUclipsr here, learning from a lot of the more experienced guys here. A lot of the drama stuff is exaggerated for views because it works.
Cebu is pronounced SAY-boo:) it always helps to know some basic phrases in the country one is visiting, knowing the correct pronunciation in their language helps so much as it shows respect plus your communication will come across clearly leaving less chance for error..less chance getting wrong directions ect.
Here in Israel we are watching "Survivor -the Philipines". All last seasons were filmed in the Philipines. The landscape on these islands are very nice and the water inviting but be carful not to be voted out by the tribe...
I guessed you were heading to the Philippines after NZ, but you threw me when you started this video in Hong Kong. A layover, of course (although I certainly would not mind seeing you explore HK a bit). Anyways, looking forward to some island hopping adventures over the coming weeks. I do hope you'll get back to NZ South Island at some point, although I know it's so far out of the way from just about everything. Enjoy the Philippines!
I think we are all happy for you going back to SE Asia. The Philippines was such a great trip for me and I know you'll enjoy your second trip out there. Port Barton in Palawan was a great place to spend Christmas.
Welcome to Cebu Gabe.As a Brit I've lived here in Cebu for the past 6 years . If you want some cheap transport the buses are good value.I live 3hrs north of the City .Less than 5 bucks .You will find the City very hectic and alot of traffic. If you get time try out a place called Topps. Its a viewpoint up in the mountain overlooking the city .Stay safe and enjoy.
Years ago my brother in law sold a beer 100 CAD$ to one of his client on a hunting trip. The man was the Edmonton Oiler's GM at the time. He got thirsty in the woods and offered that money for a cold one. Back then the CAD$ was a much stronger currency than today.
More tedious than day after day transiting to work, staring at a computer screen, attending pointless meetings, responding to unnecessary emails and mouthing banal office chatter?
Interesting to read the critiques of your NZ visit on the last video. I think a lot of good points were made about the surface level of many of your trips and a lack of research on certain areas you're visiting. And I'd personally like to see much more interesting content, like actually skiing in Banff, a jet boat ride in NZ, etc. I'd make two additional recommendations to help your future travels. Start using easily cancellable business class flights when you need to show proof of a departing flight from a country. that way you can easily cancel the onward flight without cost and change plans as you see fit. And start using google translate on some of the signage that you come across. The translate app will do a much better job in like 2 seconds.
Good to see you in my wife's home country. She is from Baybay Leyte. You could see the General McArthur Memorial. Also, no trip to the Philippines is complete with out visting the Palawan islands. Tim K is in Leyte as well, not sure you know him but he's Harold Balders and Bald and Bankrups friend.
Good you are taking a longer stay here in the Philippines then before, we live in Tagaytay (1 hour south of Manila) little colder here and stunning view over the Taal vulcano/lake.
Same amount of time actually, I was in the Philippines for three weeks in 2010, but maybe you mean my last couple visits when I just had a layover for a night. Some of my earliest videos are of the Phils: ruclips.net/video/havvAwWciZU/видео.html
....and here I was all the time thinking the beer prices on Bali are outrageous...or the prices in Singapore. There, I paid 18 SGD for a tiny beer at a bar and it wasn't even good.
You should stay in IT Park and visit Magelans Cross and the nearby basilica and the National Museum. Go to the Segue Hotel and eat at the 17th floor rooftop restaurant. Eat breakfast at Joliby Chicken rice and an egg for 169 peso with drink. Enjoy all the sweets and food. IT park and all the food options. I was there for 6 weeks.
Cebu is my all time favorite Island. Kawasan Falls is incredible! Also so many hot springs and waterfalls, but in the south part of the island. What is the camera you are using now? quality looks good and very good in low light areas.
Day pass at Shangri La hotel beach is the best beach there on Mactan island Also, I recommend Nimo Brew, jungle/plant cafe close to where you're staying
Be very interested to hear about your experience using Expedia as an OTA. Do you use it frequently? Does it work seamlessly for things like checked baggage, seat selection on line check in. Most OTA in the airline space have bad reputations unlike say those same providers for hotels. Enjoy the Phillipines
Expedia works great, it's super quick because all my info is stored in my account, usually you can select your seats and add baggage and they have good customer service.
Hi Gabriel, I'm quite surprised going to the Philippines that caught me off guard for some reason I'm thinking of a change in plan. It is one of those locations that attracts a lot of ex-pats this should be remarkably interesting.

Countries with cheap prostitution I suspect are his top choices.

Ouch !
Possibly ecoli or something similar
6 days???
Good advice. Just don't drink the water and avoid ice like the plague.

Nz looks v costly as does Australia and if you dont have car rental more difficult to reach those natural spots.

$59.00 beers is a perfect way to combat alcoholism.
But not beer black market.:)
I really look forward to your adventures in the Philippines!

Good choice, it's the dry season there now so less likely to rain.
Yep, one of the factors, good weather.
Getting clickbaited by Gabriel feels weird :P Thnx for this episode!!!
Welcome Gabe. I’m here in Manila. Let’s hang out.
Great music at the beginning for wandering around airports and big hotels.
Finally! Thank you for taking up my suggestion. Try to cover as much as you can so we can get an idea of an itinerary!

Have you ever thought of getting a higher end travel card that provides lounge access?
Once paid 35 USD for a small can of beer in the Canadian Arctic ..
Was it cold?!
@witlof5492 Wasn't ever frozen which is the most important aspect ..
0:05 Gabe uses all the instruments I would choose if I had a channel🤣🙌🏽.
I think far East Aisa, the Indian subcontinent and Europe (especially Greece) is definitely your style of a travel destination,
This is perfect you are headed to the PI, I'm going to stop there myself next month, after I spend some time in KL and Penang.
I definitely don't envy you, all that pissing about in airports. Modern day travelling, so tedious.
Constant traveling would burn me out.
I could not do it constantly. I like to get home.
More tedious than day after day transiting to work, staring at a computer screen, attending pointless meetings, responding to unnecessary emails and mouthing banal office chatter?

The Philippines! Cool! What a diverse culture with a rich history!
I am in the Philippines right now! Come to Puerto Galera
Head down to moalboal while in Cebu. Snorkel right off the shore with thousands of sardines. Really great experience and chill place.
Good choice! I went to Siargao and Dinagat last year...you can rent a motorbike at airport. I stayed in Garcia not far from Pacifico!
