I'd like to thank Bensound.com for their music and everybody that supplied photo's and films that made this film possible
I was just a kid when I used to watch the local boatmen work with joy rides and selling beautiful fish.
I didn't realize until many years later what giants amonst men these modest boatmen really were.
I would like to belatedly salute you all. Thank you.
Good to hear this specific story of the Deal boatmen's contribution to the rescues at Dunkirk. I liked your comments about the parts played by the RAF and Royal Navy, rarely told. Also liked the depth of the the tale, for example the after story of the Lady Hague. Thank you Stuart ... And David.
Thoroughly enjoyed this...took me way back to my early days in Deal...my grandfather Richard Grant ...was a Deal boatman and I believe at some point in his life was in the North Deal Lifeboat crew.
I had the honour and privilege off meeting all the famous Deal Boatmen as a young boy...the names you mentioned ...it all came flooding back..
Thank you for your feedback its always appreciated, bringing memories alive and keeping the history of Deal as it was is my aim, once us old one's have passed the Bar there's nobody left to tell the stories, Hopefully the youngsters will see in years to come, what the town was like and what events took place in Deal, times and characters that will never to be seen again.
Thanks Dave another great vlog,IAM far away but you allways bring back memories of the boats and the boatmen.keep up the good work....can I ask,do you remember the Teddy bear on Ben's plot next to the pier it was next to the undaunted...
I just watched another of you videos and hear you mention Ben's teddy bear...my gray matter is a bit slow these days
A brilliant local story about a major event of World War Two.
