    Gulfport, MS native here that survived Hurricane Katrina. In 2019, we are STILL recovering from this storm. And for the people who don’t understand why people stayed, I stayed. My family and friends did not want to get into the traffic and those who did not live close to water chose to stay.

    What makes katrina deadly and destructive is the storm surge

  • @MAA8772
    @MAA8772 11 лет назад +4

    Sandy was a rare & bizarre storm it may have been a category 1 but because of its size + hitting at high tide + the full moon and comming in from a direction that "never" happened before its affects were as bad as if it were a category 3 hurricane on the Jersey Shore and it did destroy much of our coastline, agree Katrina was more intense but Sandy was more bizarre!!!

    Being that the boat is used for disaster relief, in which you know there's definitely all sorts of stuff the prop can hit, you'd think they'd have a long shaft surface drive prop. That way you can power through even shallower water, and if needed, raise it out completely and use oars. At the same time it's an air cooled engine, so less problems all together.

    Shortly before Katrina, ING 4727 was under charter by Lafarge North America, having recently delivered a load of cement, and was reportedly empty just before the storm. ING 4727 was reportedly in the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet Canal in New Orleans when the storm hit.[2] Evidently not secured adequately for hurricane conditions, the barge found its way into the Industrial Canal (also known as the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal) where it went through (or caused-see below) a breach into the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood.
    While many other vessels in southeast Louisiana broke their moorings during the storm, ING 4727 became particularly notable both due to its size and because of where it landed. Although its dimensions are standard for barges in commerce on the Mississippi River System (of which the Industrial Canal is a part), it is larger than most Louisianan houses.[3] During and right after the storm, ING 4727 was moved around by currents in the flooded neighborhood, smashing houses and cars beneath it in an area of several city blocks.

      It doesn't matter where you live cause bad things can happen any where. Tornadoes, earth quakes, volcanoes, etc.. Think about all of the gas lines under ground, something could happen to cause an explosion and wipe out cities, a astriod could hit and wipe things out too. So you see it doesn't matter where you live.

      Brenda, after the rapture or "catching away" of the church happens that's when all hell will break loose on earth. Hurricane Katrina isn't anything compared to what's coming. I know that there are a lot of people who don't believe, but that's okay that's their choice.

    • @brndhrnd1369
      @brndhrnd1369 7 лет назад

      +Jean Dyer well yea true I know bad things are happening and are about to come worst than this the only thing that we can do is to pray for one another.

      Tavon Fenwick boy ur very lost You have missed the point! Hurricanes, for example, occur nsturally but they are happening more often and are stronger. earthquakeshsppenmore often and are stronger. Crime is increasing and gays are getting more and more brazen. The Bible tells us that these are warning signs that Jesús Christ is coming back soon and we must be ready. I urge you to read the Bible carefully, especislly Mstthew 24, Mark 13 and the revelación. There is a Bible prophecy program on 1630 AM At 3 pm Monday thru Friday that should help you undestand Bible prophecies better. I willbe praying for you.
