I just moved back home to Maine. I was born and raised here but I up and left to Tennessee and I was there for 3 long years. The entire 3 years I was longing to come back home. I took so much for granted here and after I have been back I have been the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. The only thing I miss about Tennessee is the weather and cheap cost of living.
born and raised in upstate NY and dreamed from a young age of livine in NE. finally made it andlived in maine for 5yrs. totally, devastatingly love maine but was just to expensive for me. now "I live" in TN for the exact reasons you stated, cost of living and weather. that it's a bible belt and a highly conservative state drives me nuts tho. i constantly dream of visiting maine and seeing the friends/sisters of my heart that are up there!!
Grew up in New England going to Maine for the summers. Left for college and then work out west. Visited family for Labor Day and realized my kids need to grow up in a magical place. A place with calmness and tranquility. A place like New England. I’ve been craving it ever since. Moving back soon. Nothing beats the clean streets and calm slow life of New England.
So very a glorious place to be! I was born there! Sadly, I can't go back this year to my beautiful Maine! My dad ashes are buried at the light house, Portland Head at Cape Elizabeth. The whole state is so beautiful and clean and it smells like no other place I've been. Clean!
Agree 100%! Lived there for almost 33 years. Say hi to Sylvia from Old Port Area. I loved those mainiacs! Stay safe and go Vote/boating, already voted.
Also sorry for saying your opinion did not matter because I do know that Portland Oregon is a great place because I remember back in 5th grade doing a report on Oregon.
Courtesy of relatives who lived in Maine for over 40 years, I have had many an opportunity to see the sights of Portland, Maine and the nearby suburbs, usually between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. On clear days with the warm weather, it provides many a pleasant memory to cherish over the years.
Mia Girl Actually I wasn’t born in Portland. Born and raised in Concord, NH. It’s only an hour and a half to Portland. Actually not going to get up there this weekend. Instead, I’ll be stopping at Anthony’s in York.
Actually, go to Becky's Dinner on Commercial St. for breakfast or lunch or go to a locally owned sandwich shop and order an Italian Sandwich if you really want to try Maine food.
What these videos always leave out (besides rampant crime, homelessness and drug addiction) is that the weather turns the entire state into a nightmarish, soul crushing hellhole for 6 months every year.
I can give you the real tea about portland :) Carry a weapon at all times. People get jumped often It's very very expensive The views are pretty. People are killing the environment with trash though. It's so sad.
I lived in Maine twice for a total of 15 years!! People are snooty!! The worse homeless rate in such a small city!! Crime rate has skyrocketed!! Cost of living is well overpriced for what you get and if that's not bad enough there's nothing to do except to eat drink sleep & work!!

one of the safest states to live but tough to make a living, low wages and high cost of living
randyrrs did you know that Maine is actually the 2nd safest state behind Vermont.

So first thing I should do when in Maine is to go to a doughnut shop? Seriously I’m sure there’s more to Portland than a doughnut place.
I come from Portland. And I honestly go to these places mention. If you aren’t from around here come and visit.

Rampant crime? Not accurate.
If you are incapable of appreciating the cold season then this isn't the place for you.
And the other half is crime and overdoseing....
