Part two of the previous video from Doing It Ourselves.
Nick, Mick and Michael prepare the 120 year old greenhouse for the new concrete floor. More glass is added to the frame, and an old friend returns from Sweden to lend a helping hand.
It's amazing how fast a project can progress with a little help. Will it be finished in time for winter? keep following the story to find out.

The Moons are magic. Kind, caring, dedicated to saving horses who would eventually be slaughtered and sold as meat!!! The give their all to rescue these horses, many of the are former competition horses. They are an incredible family making a huge difference in the world. You must see their videos, they’re gonna make you have a better day!!!!
I have never had any experience with horses, but The Moons just make me so happy with the treatment these beauties get. Ex show and racing horses are rescued but they also help some other ones. Atm Petra is receiving such wonderful care. 😂😂❤❤
May we all be as strong and flexible as Mick at his age. The greenhouse is really coming along, Michael, it's already very pretty. Thanks to all the Pethericks for introducing us to The Moons, and Legacy of Legends. Sadie was the first, I think, when she gave Udea a forever home, and I've followed The Moons ever since. So just today I've watched The Moons, The Pethericks, Doing It Ourselves, and only missing Sadie and Ryan. Do tell Ryan we miss him. Cheers!

As for the cement, here in California contractors have rebar and mesh first before doing a concrete pour. That war concrete does not crack

Glad to see Elias again. It was really good of him to drive all that way to help. With all that help from Nick and Elias, Michael made a lot of progress on the greenhouse.

@@lizdavies264 Ryan is young and knows he has so much potential,I think, and this is based only on what I have observed through his RUclips presence, that he may be having difficulty accepting that success doesn’t happen overnight. I suspect he may have focus challenges and had so many options it’s difficult to see one through, to just keep moving forward through the rough patches.
My advice to him as a much older person who has a lot of varied interests and has trouble sticking to just one, and juggling all life’s other challenges, “Slow down. Go with the flow without stressing so much when things do not go as you wish. I don’t want him to change his personality but perhaps temper the goofy humor just a bit.”
I’m not trying to hurt his feelings but perhaps give an honest perspective that may or may not be accurate.
His past attention to negative comments makes me think he’s extremely sensitive and for a young adult that’s common, when you learn to just ignore the haters and understand it’s not relevant and move on. Advice given in the spirit of helping someone might be good to objectively consider.

Its so nice to know that someone recognizes the needs of the horses. We, as humans, see too many things as "throw away" after we observe the end of their usefulness. Thank you Nick and family for your attention and care for these animals.

Oh Michael, I have missed you so much. This makes me so happy to see you restore your property and just any and everything you do. I am one very, very happy girl. Michael, you are the most talented person I have ever seen, there is nothing you cannot do. Your love of Beatrix Potter made me smile hugely. My Grandma was a WW! bride and came to Canada right after it ended. I clearly remember, at 2 years of age, her reading her books to me while I ate my breakfast that she made for me. Mrs. Tiggywinkle was my favourite. I have the childrens' original pattern of china that I still cherish. I made sure that I gave my daughters the entire set of childrens' books. I have ordered 3 of your beautiful prints and await anxiously for them to arrive. I have already decided where they will go. Love you Michael and may you continue your beautiful art in all the forms it shows itself.

Here in Lexington, Kentucky we have a retirement farm for retired racehorses. I am so glad that you and your wife started a retirement farm for retired racehorses.

Happy to say I’ve subscribed a while back and am so blessed watching the Moons wonderful channel. I know little about horses but have always enjoyed seeing and petting them any chance I have had. Like most animals they are so much smarter than we realize. Thank you all for all these channels connected through family and friends.

I'm glad you have the greenhouse to sit in during the day as the light is essential for peoples mental health. I"m affected with SAD in winter so I need as much light as I can get too feel mentally well.

I'm already subscribed to The Moons. Love their channel. A very caring and compassionate family taking great care of retired performance horses. Often these beautiful old horses, through no fault of their own, end up going to the meat trade. The Moons rescue these senior horses and give them a retirement they deserve, to end their days with dignity and love. ❤

Great video! The Moon’s are fantastic for what they do
All concrete will crack at it cures, because it shrinks. Your concrete looked too wet. The higher the water/cement ratio, the more the concrete will shrink….. and crack. If you didn’t use a pre-molded joint filler (e.g. homasote) around the outer edge as a separation layer, the concrete will adhere to the stone wall base. As it shrinks, it can’t pull away from the wall because of no separation layer. Therein, it cracks randomly throughout the slab. By installing transverse control joints at less than 10’ intervals, you’ll force the cracks to occur at these joints. Another strategy is to saw cut the concrete while it is still green (next day). The saw cut will create a weak plane and force the crack to occur at this location. But, from the surface, you’ll see a straight line.
Hopefully the cracks won’t reflect upwards into you tiles and cause them to crack.
P.S. I love your greenhouse, wish I had one. I’m jealous. Maybe when you do Billy’s greenhouse at the convent you can apply the above strategies to minimize and control the concrete cracking.
