Megamind is definitely pretty funny... didn't really appreciate the damsel in distress plot though. But it has so many funny lines, I have to admit it's a really good movie overall and it's even funnier out of context

Wouldn’t Metroman break those people arms by giving them high fives.
No because he’s a hecking god and it’s an animated movie
Superman can control his power, and Metro man is pretty much that minus kryptonite.
Only when he strains his muscles consciously, only then his super strength really kicks in. Also, they learnt to control their powers, obviously.
Technically, it is not super strength but tactile telekinesis, as the pressure from the force applied spreads evenly. Otherwise, he would be punching holes in the cars instead of lifting them intact.
Because it is a form telekinesis, it is safe to assume that the magnitude is a product of user’s mind/imagination, rather than a sheer muscle power.

2:28….. that has not aged well XD
Megamind was ahead of its time. The main villain was literally an incel.
Big time. It basically brought up the philosophical belief that good things happen to good people.
The semi-villain respected others but wanted fame, and he kept failing and failing until he decided to do something without fame in mind.
The hero did stuff willingly for others and fame followed, but he was sick of being needed and wanted to disconnect from his stressors.
And the villain was an average guy who believed he was disadvantaged due to being normal, and yet when given all he believed helped others get fame and romance - he still failed to achieve it. So he became enraged and went evil.

A good person would understand the other has feelings, and has no "ownership/claim" to said person (because that's objectifying). These "nice guys" are only nice to get into the good graces of people, and the second that fails, the act drops immediately. Despicable Me had more "cuteness" level, with the minions and the girls, also the colors, all those things made children like more this movie than Megamind
Despicable Me had a lot more advertising put into it too. Like with the McDonald's Happy Meal toys and the fact that the Minions are easy to make toys/plushies out of as well as fitting well with the early 2000s 'lol random potato=funny" humour.

No need, really. Movie speaks for itself. Bad guy is an incel turned giga-incel who throws a pissy fit because he doesn't get one thing/person he wants and immediately becomes a far worse bad guy than the "bad guy" ever actually was because he was an actual pos inside, good guy is a bad guy who's actually a nice guy whose "minion" he treats as the best friend that he is and whose worst crimes are pretty much jailbreaking and a bit of occaisional property damage, and a superhero who basically said "I've seen enough of this shit, I'm the fuck home to sip on a latte and relax". @@demonizedlife2640 Which is funny because Pixar’s “Cars” and “Ratatouille” got away with saying hell
The irony is though, apparently kingpin in the most recent cartoon of spider-man, which is by the way rated pg, said what the hell. To be honest, that film definitely should be rated pg-13, there's way too many dark undertones that would have scarred me for life if I watched that as a kid. The biggest one I think, is when the uncle was about to kill his nephew and then the emotional and dramatic scene when he realizes who he's strangling, and then kingpin shoots him. That was emotional for me as an adult, I can only imagine how kids are reacting to that in secret. Trust me, kids get way more traumatized than adults think. I remember for years I was scared thoroughly of weeping angels because I watched Doctor who as a kid. I was scared of other supernatural things as a result of it too.

Also at the start of the movie, he invited her at his house to see a movie, go in the pool or something like that, when his house is like a room size...🤨
@@FriendlyRaven8574 Exactly, I Always wondered where does he find the place to put a bouncy house in his tiny apartment...
As a kid Hal DEEPLY creeped me out but I could never articulate why.
GROWTH, that's what I call character development.
Megamind: "I was going to be the baddest boy of them all"
Also Megamind: Grabs Bleach and Vinegar
(Bleach + Vinegar = Chlorine Gas)
but somewhat he can manage to created an explosion with two of those things
I think it was supposed to be baking soda nd vinegar but they changed it by mistake
Ammonia is more potent
Welp I guess he was right
Its ammonia that's why its called mustard gas
2022: That hurt when hal said "And there is no queen of England-" 💀💀
“No not you Roxan, I was just yelling at my mother’s urn,” man I love this movie’s writing
"Olo"
"Uh its hello"
Why is it relatable
Mom im famous
I'm now starting every call with olo.
Maybe it has something to do with motorola like ‘ello moto’.
That's how I regularly answer the phone when my husband calls.
I sometimes say a cheery yello (like yell-o), I either got it from a movie or from a guy in the village who everyone says is weird, he says it loudly as a greeting every time. He's a really nice guy, I don't think he's weird at all.
That's how I answer the phone when I'm in Spanglish mode.
“I…didn’t know you had feelings.”
Someone legit told me this once. I was so damn taken aback that I didn’t say anything.
I once started talking about a guy I had a crush on, and one of my close friends reacted in utter shock. Apparently because I don't randomly date people, or talk about hot guys all the time, he thought I was asexual. I thought it was funny at first, but in retrospect, it's kinda sad. Makes me wonder how many people avoided me because I don't wear my hormones on my sleeve.
Even sadder is when someone asks you do you feel anything else than rage.
@@Rebecca_Violet In retrospect, you don't wear your hormones on your sleeves. That's respectable, imo. It's something that SHOULD be a common thing, but our current society is so desperate at portraying their sexuality thta basically everyone is just swaying their hormones around like perfume.
@@Rebecca_Violet On the other hand, in retrospect(lmao), there's also the fact that they didn't really get to know you or bother asking about your sexuality before making a decision. Those people therefore aren't really trying to understand you. Not that that's bad, since understanding a person is tiresome work, but you didn't really lose much, since they never tried in the first place, so even if you did end up with them, it wouldn't have lasted long and would've been a hit to your mentality. At least, that's how I see things.
fax. seems to get left out because people just focus on hating Hal which i dont really blame them 😂
it's absolutely fucking amazing I cannot count how many times I watched this as a kid and its still my all-time favourite I've always been and still am a massive sucker for Megamind, minion and metro man humour, the one-liners they through at each other take the cake in this movie and the comedic chemistry is second only to kuzko, Pacha, yzma, and Kronk from emperor's new groove. if you love Megamind then you definitely love the emperor's new groove.
"And there is no queen of england"
-Hal Stewart, 9/30/2010
This doesn't feel like "watching megamind as an adult", but "watching megamind as a teen who thinks he knows what being an adult is and is actually close but ever so far"
It doesn't just feel like that it's that for me 💁🏻♀️
@@atinaburger9974
That emoji clearly tells me otherwise
@@arzr_er I think most of these teenagers are female. Notice how most of the comments are about incels being a villain even though there are darker themes in this movie?
welcome to the club
@@atinaburger9974 haha no
What I always got from that beginning was that Megamind was raised with more care and attention, but for evil purposes. While the hero was always stuck trying to prove himself and please others, even with his own adoptive parents.
That's an interesting take, and may help explain why Metroman doesn't seem to care about the people of Metro City. At least until the very end, when it seems he had some sort of feelings for MegaMind.
@@fryloc359 what
@@ryanrodriguez7664 What
@@fryloc359 I mean, he does care, he just knew the city was in good hands even if no one knew it yet. And he even showed up to his hero ceremony.
@@ryanrodriguez7664 I think by feelings the commenter meant that he was actually happy for Megamind when he saw how much he had grown as a person.
its so funny that megamind gets concerned for metroman when he is acting like copper is his weakness its adorable
"There is no queen of England" that hits different now
after watching invincble, seeing metroman high fiving everyone while he is flying in super speed doesn't sit right with me.
The damn train 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Yeah reminds me of that scene where Nolan 'trained' mark
You can assume someone whose had that strength for that long, knows how to control it. Odd you bring up Invincible because Omni man is just Metro Man's exact opposite (both are equally destructive for opposite reasons though).
@@vullord666 Not really, he is going at ultra speeds, strength is not a variable in this equation anymore. The speed is enough to obliterate the citizen while metroman's hand wont take any damage because it is durable.
@@thedarkknight9193
A cannonball being shot backwards at 25mph while it was riding in a car moving forward at 25mph would go 0mph after being fired.
All Metroman has to do move his hand backward relative to his flight speed at the moment of impact and he won’t hurt anyone.
"His heart is an ocean inside a bigger ocean."
This line is brilliant considering what happens later in the movie.
I don't understand, please elaborate?
@@ifiwerearichman-yabadiba he falls in to water as an ice cube lol
that's actually really clever, i never noticed that
what a foreshadow
@@koleszgdanska7149 Ahhhh thank you so much
Now that I think about it, Megamind turning himself into an ice cube as he falls into the water was also foreshadowed with the glass with ice cubes earlier on
I laughed SO fucking hard at the queen of England part, and then realized this was posted over a year ago 🤣 That bit aged beautifully omg 💀
Megamind is one of those movies that gets better after each rewatch.
