Love that lake.
What lake is it?
Hey Jose. For some of the places I visit, I don’t want the names to be on a public forum like RUclips, as my purpose is for people to do their own research and discover these places, just like I did.
Just putting the name out there could very likely attract the wrong kind of people to a place like this (I’m not saying this about you). So, with a little research of the Eastern Sierra along the 395, you will eventually find this place and many, many more ☺️
@@UntilJourneysEnd thanks for keeping these places unnamed. It took some of us many many years of exploring the eastern sierras to find places like this and there’s not many left.
That’s one of the biggest rewards for fishermen/explorers….The Discovery!
@@UntilJourneysEnd What a perfect and kind answer. Don't ever name the places you go unless it's ridiculously obvious. I like how you roll even though I never keep trout...especially wild ones. You use the fish you keep to literally fuel yourself. And it is MEANINGFUL for you. So I subscribe!
Dude you’re super underrated! But I know your gonna be the best RUclipser. Give it half another year! Love the content!
Thanks Allen!
You and NWFS should link up.
Yes!!
Awesome place and videos..
Hi from Argentina!!!
Every nigth I whach one of yours videos.
Thanks.
Helllloooo!!! Welcome!! So happy to hear you’re enjoying the channel! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
underwater shots fireee
I'll be there Friday. I can't wait
Have a blast brotha! Let me know how you do!
It’s so pretty up in that area. I got my self a fly rod last year and never took it out. I ended up spending a week up in bishop and immediately wish I brought my fly rod to fish out there!
It really is brotha.
Haha well hey, now you know you still have the itch! 😄 Bishop isn’t going anywhere…bring it the next time you head up there! 🙌🏻🎣
love the video , nice to find catch wild trout + cook, awesome
My wife and I love your videos, your appreciation of God's creation and love for our Lord. BTW, I have the save issue with GoPro and just purchased a DJI Cosmo action 3 and it actually works. I can't wait to do some more fly fishing in the Sierras this year. May you and your wife continue to be blessed and be a blessing. K&B
🙏🏻
Ahhhhh yeah I was looking at the DJI Osmo….I have one last method to try with my GoPro’s to see if it helps, but if not, I’m seriously considering switching my setup. Good to hear other’s like the DJI.
And thanks for watchin man. I’m glad these videos bring you and your wife some enjoyment and get’s you excited to fish! That’s the biggest compliment I could ask for!
Great video, been there before.
Brother, great fishing. Your video really catalyzes me to go to that lake so badly. I know the lake, it's been on my bucket list for so long. I gotta go at least once before season closed.
So happy you enjoyed it Greg…
you will LOVE this place! You got time…I’ve read the lake doesn’t freeze over until early/mid november.
Thank you! It does make me feel good! 😊
Great stuff! One of my favorite lakes for sure! Awesome to see more fly fishing on the channel! And great to see catch and release especially on these precious wild sierra lakes!
Glad ya enjoyed it Bradley. I’m lovin fly fishing! Just something about it…
And yes, these lakes are truly precious!
What a beautiful location you've found.
i love this lake have caught some nice browns out of it and the fall is my favorite time of year out there .
It’s my favorite fall location by far.
Great content! And beautiful spot! Keep up the great videos!
Great video
Loved this vid! This lake is within my trekking range too
YES! This is another amazing hike that’s under 3 miles!
Amazing under water footage!
Thanks man! So happy we had those guys swim by and give us a look! 😄
Nice catch. I like how you don't let anything go to waste. I never thought about cooking and eating the fish eggs. I will have to try it next time I go fishing. When you ate the tail end, are you eating the actual fin itself?
I look forward to your upcoming March fishing trips. Be safe and enjoy.
Trout/salmon eggs are HIGH in omega 3’s and vitamin D! So if you’re lookin for good clean energy out in the mountains, eggs are a solid way to go.
Yes, so the fish tail (when fried throughly) becomes crispy just like a chip and it has a great texture and taste!
please post more videos like this and maybe overnight camping!
Most definitely!!
good job
what do you use for your waders/boots set up?? great fishing!
I’m currently testing some pretty decent budget waders from TruDave! (links below). For my boots, I love my Korkers! Thanks for watchin man 🕺🏻🎣

Knew a guy that would get up there as soon as it iced out and was.legal.season for some.big browns.
Awesome Micah . . . I found this lake and tagged it on my google earth page as a must fish! Question, what lake camera (rig setup) are you using that it lands right side up every time in the lake??
Nice video!! Do you remove the scales at all before cooking? I have seen people scraping the scales of before cooking. I have never tried eating the skin before but might give it a try. I like how you fish with both fly and spinning rod. Glad I discovered your channel!!
The scales on trout are much smaller than warm water fish like bass or carp, so when the skin is cooked the scales become a nice crispy crunch along with the meat. The bigger the trout the bigger the scales, so some people start scaling their trout if it’s over 16inches. But I’ve eaten trout 17inches and the skin was still good without scaling! In the end, it comes down to personal preference…try both methods out and see which one you like! Glad you found the channel brotha…welcome!!! 🙌🏻🎣
"Holy Cromoly!" Micah, you have the most wholesome expressions of joy. love your videos. l am so pleased you continue to kill with my flies. -tim
🙏🏻 thank you bro.
Great video! Your professionalism is obvious. I share them with a brother in Minnesota who passes them onto his buddies. Nothing but good reviews!
Just wondering… Do you scale your fish before frying?
Thank you man. I’m so glad you guys are enjoying the channel, from Minnesota!!! I’ve heard only great things about that state….I can’t wait to visit!
For trout, I never scale them because their skin crisps up real nice in a pan with butter and gives a great texture with every bite. What I found with Browns was that their skin was thicker but still totally edible. I could see people not liking that, in which case the meat easily slides right off the skin after you cook it.
Why did you say that Creek gave you a Germany vibe? Did you live in Europe before?
My grandmother was from Germany. I have yet to go, but of the 100s of pictures that I’ve seen, it immediately made me think of Europe.
HOW DO YOU GET UP THERE ..
WHAT ARE THE ROADS ??
THANK YOU
JOE
looks like you were in the June Lake loop area.
nice video. releasing fish is always rewarding
Micah sure does it right by not stating the name of the lake or the immediate area for the reasons he eloquently stated. Please take his lead this!
Are you using two files at once? How are you rigged up like that?
Yes! I’m using what’s called the “dry dropper” setup. Underneath the dry fly you tie directly onto the hook about a 2ft leader (or however deep you want to go) and then you tie on your perdigon/nymph of choice. The trick is making sure the perdigon/nymph is small enough so that it doesn’t sink your dry fly.
What is the brand of the first knife you used to cut trout?
It was a cheap knife I bought from REI, but I no longer use it and can’t recommend it. The blade loses it’s edge very easily :/
What brand was your spinning rod on this video?
The rod was an Okuma SST 5’ 6” and the reel was the Okuma Epixor 1000!
Using treble hooks is a no no,so cut off 2 hooks, because the chance that the fish your releasing are going to the bottom and dying are high
Sockimadecka lake. Everyone welcome
