- Trying to decide between Evernote or Notion? I have used Evernote for over a decade and currently use Notion for just about everything. In this episode, I discuss the differences between the two and how I use them.

Can the 2 just merge? Evernotion. I need that.
this would more awesome than the fusion of goku and vegita
For my suggestion, you guys may take a look Chinese version of Evernote, which called “印象笔记”. They pretty much merge most of the Notion fuctions in Evernote already :D
@@cnnjzc No thanks. We don't need chinese spyware.
Great analysis, unlike many others out there. We are talking about 2 applications with different focus.
- Evernote it's for note-taking
- Notion it's for database management
Notion does many other things, yes it does. But he does it anyway and is not very good at it. Of course, we have to take into account that it is a relatively new tool.
As a Note-taking tool, Notion doesn't work for me.
- No offline support
- It's stupidly slow on mobile (impossible to capture quick notes)
- It's slow on the desktop even with a good internet
I would love to see Notion really focus on performance and offline mode, which they announced they were working on 9 months ago.
Anyway, great video!
Evernote: scanning, storing and searching documents (medical history and other docs, receipts, business cards, searchable handwritten notes and whiteboard scans in multiple languages), incredible OCR, great web clipper, pdf-annotations, offline notebooks, direct audio and camera input, bare-minimum but serviceable handwriting input option, encryption
Notion: make a perfect custom website/wiki-style/database hub for work, personal planning, goals, stats, progress-checking and so on. No OCR, no offline access, no encryption, but many options for integrations with other services. Hierarchical, highly customizeable structure and view of content.
Verdict: just use both and interconnect with links to notes :-)
This is so true. 👍🏾. I spent ages choosing between them and have come to the same conclusion. Just use both. Maybe Notion for Planning, all notes for me have to sit in Evernote. I need that offline mode and draw functionality. That’s non negotiable!
@@RemofRenaissance Also, maybe stick with Evernote for sensitive information for the time being. Apparently, Notion is yet to strictly prioritize privacy and security, so I wouldn't move anything extremely valuable to it just yet.
@@veronikavartanova4044 Awesome I'm sticking with Evernote, glad you reminded me of all the features Evernote has. thanks
@@veronikavartanova4044 can you integrated your email (Mail of Apple, or other email app) to at least one the two app? Thanks
@@pink74slk Not quite, though you can set incoming emails to be forwarded to Evernote (with Evernote premium you get an email address that you can use to send or redirect content to Evernote). I haven't used it much, but I don't think you can reply to emails from Evernote. You still can store important messages and draft replies in there, which is something at least.
great video! I've been doing a lot of searching on RUclips between different note taking apps and project management. This video is exactly what I needed, informational, no filler, straight to the point with visual references. THANK YOU!
The fairness of your comparison gives it credibility. Very helpful. Thank you!
When I see a video with such quality, I subscribe
Brilliant video- thank you 😊 it really helps to understand both and how to organise my life
Just wanted to say your video quality blew me away at the opening. Great job on the set up
Finally!!! A concise, organized and clear comparison between these two options. I’ve been watching dozens and dozens of videos that claim to do the same but none explain it as well as you. I’m defiantly subscribing and 👍🏼! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video bro!
good coverage, thanks a lot
Excellent content! Very informative! Now I’m pretty sold on notion... wish me luck 😬🙏🏼
Thanks for the compasiron, it helped me to decide which one to pick since I'm just starting using these tools. Just a filming tip, put your notes next to the camera to avoid loking down :-)
Evernote = incredible digital notebook.
Notion = incredible database.
Notion is that hot chic that looks flirty at me, but I can't get with her because I already have a girlfriend(evernote)...
That's the nerdiest thing I've ever heard hahaha
Same! This is perfect. 😆
That’s funny! I kinda feel same way. I use Evernote all day long. 20-100 times a day. I don’t have any complaints about Evernote. I have over 3090 notes and most of them are loaded with images, audio notes, everything! What am I not getting? I would literally feel like I was cheating if I didn’t remain faithful to Evernote. What do you think?
😂😂😂😂😂
Every true player's got a side chick, don't worry... I won't tell.
BTW, the subtitle is wrong for this video.
Great breakdown! I've been a huge Notion fan for notes, projects, organization, etc. I have been wondering if testing out Evernote would be worth it, but I think I'm going to stick with notion.
Great overview. Evernote was great, but Notion is the future.
Very helpful.
Evernote’s tables combined with checkboxes work for me; databases and filters tend to be more than I need. Evernote CAN filter, via it’s tags.
Notion has a calendar built in. This is a huge difference for me.
Since this recording, off-line use of Notion has improved. Web clippers are both mediocre, since Evernote made theirs worse. I still haven't made the complete move from Evernote to Notion. I find myself using both.
So I have a process whereby I start with a MindMap (using MindNode) to create my daily tasks. Then I export those tasks to OmniFocus. I am not set on keeping OmniFocus as it's a bit heavy on the bells and whistles and I'm not really using GTD per se. So between Evernote and Notion which would you choose to export your tasks from a MindMap? Are there any MindMap combos with either Evernote or Notion that work well (like my integration from MindNode to OmniFocus)?
How do we know that Notion isn’t just another shinny object that ends up getting bought out by Microsoft and tossed to the curb? What does notion really offer that would justify switching? I’m always interested in the best and latest tech. But I need consistency and longevity? I’m always open. But I have to say I love my Evernote!
I have to say that so far I’ve been pretty impressed with notion as far as a company goes. They have not taken on any unnecessary funding and have remained a pretty lean organization. If they were building Notion to make money, they would have taken on more funding which they could easily get with their user base.
Just like Wunderlist?
FYI, it looks like you've updated the wrong caption file
🤣
I’m trying to go all in notion but unfortunately I don’t really like their note taking system. It also lacks the support of hand writing notes with the pen. Their app still needs work. Right now I’m using OneNote and google keep.
DoYouFeelItNowMr.Krabs?
When I had android devices, all I used was Evernote. For everything. Now I switched to Apple and usually I just open my Notes app lol. OneNote I use for class. But to just store my thoughts, ideas, workouts, etc Evernote worked. I’ve heard good things about Notion, but their interface looks...a bit much 😅
It's so frustrating. I want to go to Notion, but there's so much it just can't do. If Notion can address all of these cons you outlined, it's going to take over the world, but they're a small team and it takes a long time for new stuff to come out.
They are working on it. I still use Notion and nothing has been a replacement so far.
I can’t find your link for the daily template you discusses for Evernote. I see the notion template link. Is that a trick? Just kidding. But where’s the link, bro?
You forgot to include the link to your Evernote daily logs. I found your Notion daily logs but I don’t use Notion. Thanks
Notion just lags in web clipper rest things are more useful like instant pdf conversion etc
I've been using Evernote since 2009 and have almost 30k notes. Version 10 is killing me as they have removed several key features that I use as part of my personal system. I'm now looking at Notion, but given what I've seen so far, it doesn't look like it'll fit my needs. So frustrating.
What features did they remove? Seems they keep redesigning it way too often, but what was removed?
Ive goy Evernote l Ike some things not so much others. Im trying to use Evernote to keep track of diffent jobs.
I have a love-hate relationship with EverNote. I left EverNote many times but always came back. the big winner for me with Evernote over notion the web clipper. notion web clipper sucks.
what do you think about taskade.com? can u review it?
If quality repro web clipping is needed, then Notion's Chrome web clipper extension is so elementary, it's almost in the same category as Google Keep - embryonic. For me article clipping is important, so it's back to Evernote.
Evernote's Android app is reliable and formats content very nicely.
Plus Evernote's free flavour does offer a generous monthly upload.
If notion could have offline mode, I will definitely use it instead of Evernote. The connection to notion is a little bit slow from mainland China.
What’s up with the subtitles?
At first i thought undertaken from wwe was doing tech vlogs. Thumbnails has a big hand in it.
What sorcery is happening in closed captions [English]?
FYI: Evernote FREE version does not allow you to have offline access. Only the Paid version gives you this.
Creating Templetes in Evernote requires the pro-Version where you need to pay for now, really annoying (one of the main reasons I'm looking for alternatives right now)
What is with unrelated subtitle?
Heads up, your closed captioning is talking about something completely different that you are :) Not sure if it pulled it from another video. I noticed it in the intro.
Did anyone notice the subtitle?
Great video....but check out the subtitle does not match...its like spammy looking...
Someone’s running test cases with the caption
Searchable pictures or pdfs?
Only one can do it.
Don't forget searchable pictures of handwriting, too.
Evernote is simple and easy. But Notion has many features.
you kind of look like alex karev's responsible big brother
🤣🤣🤣
Your captions are completely unrelated to the content... did you catch that?
People get tired of old tools. But evernote is still a much better tool.
Evernote is super annoying in the fact that they don't allow you to rescale images in the app. For this reason, images fill the whole page. Super annoying
I resize/rescale images all the time in the (now Legacy 6.25 version, version 10 for Windows is slow, sucky, many features removed). Open up the note in its own window, click the image once, and the selection handle will appear in the lower right corner of the image. Use the selection handle to resize--once the cursor turns into a double-ended arrow, just click and drag that arrow to the left and up to resize.
Here in 2024. How things change since this video was recorded 4 years ago. Notion has become a very generous FREE app, while Evernote has become useless for me - unless I upgrade to a paid plan. It was my universal note-capturing system for almost 10 years... and then... they slowly started removing features for free users. I went from being able to sync 3 devices, down to 2. I was able to create unlimited notebooks, and now you can only have 1. I could create unlimited notes... now you can only have 50 - and worst of all, if you're like me and have anything beyond that because you've been using it for years - you get slapped with a popup agressively forcing you to upgrade to a paid plan everytime you click an existing note only to view it. To me, that's a massive turnoff which is why I'm looking into importing everything in Notion. I'll miss the audio note taking to capture song ideas or dreams. Anyway, just wanted to comment and suggest perhaps publishing a 2024 update to this video! Cheers :)
No offline mode?
No interest.
I would probably use Evernote IF I didnt't have to pay for offline mode! 😡😭
Notion is the future! Evernote is the past!! Evernote is obsolete!
