To stay on top of my current projects, I created a personal project manager in Notion. I had already been using it to manage client projects with great success, so I felt it was time to start managing my own projects as well. In this tutorial video, I walk through the entire set up process and explain it as I go along. Enjoy!

You broke down everything so well and its simple enough to convert to any “project”. I am still learning - the possibilities are endless. Now on to figure out if I can create some sort of materials database to link to each project. Keep them coming!

This has to be the best video I have come across explaining how to use notion better for my needs. Very clear and slow enough for me to understand what you are doing. I’ve tried in the past to follow others tutorials but I would have notion open and coping what they were doing and still not understand. This video I just watched and didn’t even need to have notion open. I was able to better understand how it works and how to use it for me. Great job! Thank you!

Super helpful! Some of these other tutorials are overly complicated or go so fast you can't keep up. I made a few of my own adjustments to viewing tasks in a project, but other than that I basically followed this word for word and I'm excited to start using it.

One thing I've done with "Created Time", because I agree I wanted it smaller in most cases, is I create a SECOND property which is a formula, that takes the Created Time value and reformats it to a more compact MM/DD/YYY or DD/MM/YYYY format. Then I hide the Created Time property and only show the more compact one.
This is great, TY! Notion need an "Omit time" option like Appsheet has. Notion also needs recurring scheduling bad!

On ur example given in the video, could I add another table column to say "payment details" where to keep track of a project''s payment history, when, method, whom, method and etc. As always project amount are received into project stages

I really enjoyed the tutorial, I was going to use Notion for my team, but there was a missing key feature (Automation) and (Graph reports), without it we are a mess. So we actually found a nifty little tool online called Ora.pm which suits our workflow pretty well, we are just waiting for them to release their mobile app soon, as we are highly mobile too. Notion's mobile app is fine but not great, hope they improve it in the future and add rules or automation, that would be wild.
Was there a way to merge table cell, been struggle with it.

why isnt your project manager template included in the list of templates on your webpage after we subscribe to emails?
You can now turn off "Wrap column" by clicking that Column's header & clicking "Wrap column" to keep it from stacking up data, making the Row tall.
why cant i add view like you..if i were just add view on the next tab.. what happen if i make changes on the first tab, will the second tab gets the update as well
I have a Trading Journal Database in Notion. I have students who pay me to have access to that page. I place new trades and updates to existing trades every day. I will have between 5- to 100 Guests on that page/database. I need to let them know immediately when I add a new trade or update an existing page. I can't figure out how to do that. I don't want to have to @mention (name) 100 times each time I make a new trade. I set reminders for like 5 minutes into the future after I make a trade but I don't think all the Guests will see the reminder. How can I make Notion notify all Guests to a page at once when I add or change something to that page?

The page has nothing to do with the app Coda. It’s an area for recording ideas, thoughts, and inspiration. I have a big video coming out early this week on my entire Notion setup.

In fact, I'm a professor and I'm having my students create their ePortfolios in Notion & I suggested that they go through your Notion videos. ALSO.... have you checked out ClickUp recently? It has really come a long way. The way I see it is Notion/Coda are awesome content platforms/databases that try to do task/project management.... ClickUp is an awesome project/task management platform that is adding docs/dashboards to creep into the Notion/Coda space. Should be interesting to see who wins... actually, I think we all win with this competition. Cheers,

@@josephshields317 I downloaded Clickup but have not yet done much with it. I just dove into Airtable a bit over the last month and am doing a video soon on it. I am trying not to turn my channel into a productivity app channel. I like the topic and am passionate about it, but I wanted this channel to be more about entrepreneurship. I may start a new channel and focus on productivity tools. I am not sure yet. Thanks for the comments!

You can create a database view of projects completed that month using filtering.

you cannot, because notion does not have a linux desktop application. you can use it through your web browsers though.

If you “unwrap” the cells they will run off the end and you can make the columns shorter

For Date Created - make this a formula. For example: formateDate(now(), “MM/DD/YY”). You can change the format to also include the time or just have the time. www.notion.so/formatDate-7648cf9bfae44ea49a7fbc314263c8cb
can Notion create a Gnatt chart? many tutorials are extremely bloated and defeat the interoperability of Notion's uses
To make the cells go single line and not get bigger... press in the table options “wrap cells”

@@jeradhill Oh never knew that there wasn't something to screen record on ChromeOS. I was looking forward to get the same Pixelbook Go 4k, but I really couldn't rap my head around not having a pro video editor that I can rely on, it's part of our workflow, I searched endlessly online but no go, so im still stuck with my Macbbook Pro with the faulty butterfly keyboard, my B button is failing, so excuse the double B's.
Hi Jerad. I really like your videos and seeing how you use Notion. And they are one of the main reasons I decided to start using Notion was because of all the amazing things that you showed in your videos. HOWEVER, there is something that you forgot to mention. NOTION DOES NOT WORK WITH IPAD. The iPad app has none of the functionality of the laptop app and it is a little misleading that your thumbnail for this video shows notion on an iPad when this type of database can’t be created on the iPad app. I am sure that you did this demonstration and set up the database on a laptop, because I tried recreating it on my iPad and I couldn’t build a page like yours or any page for that matter because there are key functions mentions. Can you start to mention that to your viewers and change your thumbnails so that it doesn’t unintentionally mislead people to think that they will be able to do what you do on their iPad? Or do a video on the limitations of Notion on mobile devices so people are well informed? I bought a subscription based off of your recommendations and demonstrations and now I have something that I can’t use. I spoke with the Notion people and they acknowledged that the iPad app has a lot of issues but they have no idea of when the iPad version will have the functions that the laptop app has which is extremely frustrating and disappointing.
