It's true that playing an instrument enhances brain function. In my younger days I learned violin. However, the benefits didn't show in the academic scores. I was an average student who excelled in some school subjects but not in others. Learning a second language definitely "no". Before we get to the health benefits, many feel that they need a teacher and years of practice before they'd start to enjoy music. My father tried to master the accordion but never gone past beginner pieces. Obviously seeing dad play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" didn't sound very exciting. The sad part is that music is often taught like technical exercises. There is a lot of work learning to play scales & other techniques before getting into songs that are fun & engaging. And many music programs focus on Classical music from years ago that a student don't necessarily enjoy playing.
Agree 100 percent. I don't need growth hormone, I need a healthy brain. Playing piano is a big challenge. Thanks for sharing.
