How Does Music Affect Your Brain? | Tech Effects | WIRED - Наука
Music is probably the most powerful thing that exists on earth. It can change your mood, it can bring up some old memories you’ve forgot it can bring people together.
Personally I can’t imagine my life without music, it’s the best thing I can have.
I'll never understand people who don't really listen to music, it's crazy
Never seen a more perfect explanation 🤞🏾❤️
it also can be manipulated for evil purpose. it is the tool cause music itself is the technology. it is not evil nor good. plato has said it in the past. it can make you violence or degenerates. it also can make you intelligent and peaceful. it no joke. my friend listen to some music. it make him want to smoke weed and. do drug. music is really a technology
well is hard for deaf people, you can still enjoy other things.

Music is, without the shadow of a doubt, *the greatest* human invention
Language is. Music, I think, is very connected to it.
They played music in heaven before earth was here.
Music is not an invention, it is a discovery
I think language is the greatest human invention
Well, human's aren't the ones who invented music.
Watching her struggle to say the word “light” made my heart hurt. No one should have to go through this.

The one thing I've ever been cocky about is my taste in music. Friends & acquaintances of mine have agreed. What type of music do you listen to? I'll give you some recommendations. This goes for anyone who reads this.
SnackPatrol give me some recommendations man. I listen to classical piano and rap
The neuroscientist in the video, Daniel Levitin is the author of a really cool book called 'This is your brain on music" Prior to becoming a neuroscientist he studied music at Berklee College of Music and went on to record some of histories great musicians like Stevie Wonder. Truly an amazing dude. He was a prof at Mcgill in Montreal years ago.
Check this video by Adam Neely, its pretty cool!

I used to underestimate my skill at playing guitar and used to have negative thoughts like "But bruh everyone knows how to play guitar, that's nothing!" or "that won't make you any money" but after seeing videos like this I realize this may be one of the best life choices I've ever made even if it doesn't make me any money and I won't stop playing as long as my hands are able to. Cheers to my fellow musicians out there, amateur or professional.
i love musical screams. i literally get goosebumps half of the time when the audio quality is top notch.
That's why music needs to be taught at school

Sometimes when I hear an old song. All these memories come rushing back like time is frozen and I'll remember the most bizarre things, music is something special its the only thing that can transport me back into the past so much so that I even feel the emotion of what that track ment to me at that time. And Ohhh the memories someone old must have when they hear really old music. It's the best
The memories just flow in.

@@yourmother3207 explains a lot tbh
I don't enjoy listening to music. Not healthy!
This is great. Music communicates what words cannot express, in a much better and more articulate way I could ever do it. It's helped me heal after I had to learn how to walk again, I did it to the beat of whatever music I was listening to, and it helped me cope emotionally while going through the process, uncertain what my outcome would be. I can run now...
I don't because I'm lazy, but I can😂😂
A world without music would be a much duller place. It can effect every emotion. I find music to be extremely powerful. To me music is a great comforter. I can be in any place, or go on a long walk, and can play music in my head. It is almost like an addiction. Something I have a strong craving for. Music is a great mood changer. It is my greatest passion.
I thought I was weird because I cry or get chills when I listen to good songs....! Thank God I'm not.....!
I'm like that too! Sometimes the song isn't even particularly sad or emotional, but just the certain melodies or harmonies can get me too!
Me too, i get all that with hearing a music without lyrics at all.
No! For some of us music is EVERYTHING!
Lakshitha Ramesh Me too, and I get a funny look as if something is wrong with me.
I don't understand how one can cry over a song
I love music. Period

Period ? You mean you having it rn

Yeah especially when I listening to METALLICAAAAAAAA
JDL M YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Pantera especially
I came here because I wrote a guitar lead on a song I've been working on. The melody of the lead in the combination of the song production brought me to tears. There are no lyrics in the song so far. But the song appears to be filled with unspoken emotion that doesn't need to be Said. It's expressed. Really interesting effect on the mind.
I listen to music every day, for many years. Music has become a part of me, it helps me concentrate and relax at the right time. Some songs have important memories associated with them, so I can't imagine my life without music.
I remember when I first listened to Ten Years Gone, by Led Zeppelin. When Jimi's guitar kicks in in the second part of the song...Jeez, never had a song given me so many chills
I had a similar reaction to that song. So many others, too, but that one still gives me goosebumps
I hear exactly what you're saying! Love that song and especially that solo. And that part right after the solo... "Did you ever really need somebody
And really need 'em bad" and that Jimi's huge guitar sound. I remember when I heard that song first time too.
The "Hey Ya!" song makes me cry when listening to it sometimes. As a 16 year old, I have literally missed out a bunch during my childhood. This song reminds me of my childhood, and it makes me cry because of it!
I have always wondered about this questions since music does not seem to have any specific survival advantage. I am starting to believe that it's just the body's way of making an individual feel happy (because of the dopamine release) inorder for them to have better well being which obviously will lead to them procreating healthier progenies. Music also has been here throughout our evolutionary journey. The singing birds, the rustling leaves, the flowing water, etc remind us of a simpler time & they will continue to do so making us feel better than ever!
Props to you guys for giving screentime to Fantastic Negrito! He may be one of my favorite musicians right now!
I'm interested in what playing an instrument in a more casual way does to one's brain. Most of the musicians shown in these types of videos are amazing classically trained musicians who have what I would consider a deep understanding of not only how to play, but how the music works (for example, musicians who are able to get "into the zone" like jazz musicians). But what does this mean for a casual player, like a beginner guitarist, say one like myself who is very early on in my journey and relies mostly on simple chords. Would playing music have the same effect on my brain as someone who could be considered more in tune with what they are doing (someone with a deeper understanding, rather than someone like myself who feels as if they are simply going through simple motions)? Interesting thought.
I believe it has a similar effect, no matter what standard you play-music making affects every area of the brain and is the only known thing that has been shown to have this power. I love music:)
Music is my drug & i'm addicted to it.
I remember seeing a video that said when Deaf people experience music, even if they can't hear it, that the auditory cortex lights up, the same region that a hearing person's would! I find that so fascinating! 💖
Music and dancing are so noble and special that we still haven't learned all their benefits and functions.
Yes, agree! Music is important in our life 👍
Once in a while, I watch the ET bicycle flying scene and I have to say that it always gives me chills because of the music. The actual saying is corny but I love it because of the story it’s telling end of music makes it better because if it’s so well and so beautiful to hear. I’d go as far as to say that it’s chill inducing.
Music has always been a time machine for me it just takes you right back to that place and moment when you 1st heard it or when it became special to you 😊
This should be a two hour long documentary!!
Music is a cure for many issues, it always saves me when I feel depressed. Incredible effect 🎶
Felt my hair stand on end immediately when they played Gimme Shelter and I heard those high notes. Comfortably Numb is another song that always wakes my senses. And more recently Miranda Lambert’s Tin Man.
Grew up 90s/early 2000s listening to all the classic rock 60s 70s 80s in radio in car with dad, and they had all the tapes/cds. I think and behave far different than my average age range, I thought growing up everyone knew those songs/ how wrong/blessed I was😎
All alone the watchtower plays
I'm geting goosebumps

Important as music is, the better skill is to be present to the moment…letting go…to come up with something new. Satisfying conclusion to a good report 📹🎤
So the key, to maximizing the use of our brain is to learn how to sing, play an instrument and become ambidextrous by practicing writing with the less dominant hand. And also some really healthy diet and workout excersice every morning. Great

Music is for the SOUL 🎼🎹🕴
This video needs a billion views, people may not understand the powers of vibrational energy
This. Vibrations are present in the environment, people, objects, and etc that surround us. And while the effects not only influence our consciousness they also affect our subconscious which can plant seeds for certain behaviors, mannerisms, and ideations.
Music is prevalently vibratious which is why it’s so effective, the words, the lyrics, the frequency it all has a manipulative science behind it.
Whoever picked the song for the outro knew exactly what they were doing. Chills
That awkward moment when you already had chills before he mentioned it..

The question I would ask is why certain types of music (or sound patterns) seem to induce the same brain activation regions as colorspace in pictures. Memories.
I wonder if Wired would be willing to do a similar video on the effect of hip hop/rap (new vs old) on the brain.
