    Thank you for this review Mr. Oosthuizen. I've been looking for an in-depth review because since hearing about this car, I have been considering it quite a bit.

    I'm glad you compared to a Sorento and similar class, rather than most other journos who compares it to the ravs/etc

      Thanks Khalid - it's a bit of a stretch for the Tiggo 8 to be honest, it's a fair bit smaller, but for some people I do think it will be a more affordable alternative, with some compromises. I forgot to add the Tiguan Allspace.

    Had an adult sit on 3rd row. Had to marginally compromise 2nd row and driver seating position to make it work. (Very small compromise) so third row does work for adult if all can compromise. As opposed to a 5 seater this 7 seater can work.

    Busy buying the cheaper version as the tan colour does not work for me and much less windnoise without the sunroof

    Great review I must say. Does it have heated seats? I forgot to check when I went to check it out and for a test drive. Also I can't find this on most or any review. I would love this as I am planning to get this before the winter hits.

    I was initially interested in the Tiggo 7 Pro but when I saw it in person it seemed even narrower than this. That's the only thing that I'm unsure about.

      Believe me, the rear leg room of the 7 is a lot better than the 8..I tested both cars last week and they were the new facelifted models...they look amazing inside with the one long dashboard digital cluster. Plus for off reading, the 7 has an all wheel drive and has a higher ride clearance than the 8 if you are into off roading

  • @SammyMachethe5716
    @SammyMachethe5716 2 года назад +3

    Mr. Oosthuizen, how do you find the rear mirror and the brakes? When I test drove, I wasn't really thrown out, but I hear quite a few People wary about it...

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  2 года назад +1

      Hey Sammy. The rearview mirror is indeed odd but after a day I was used to it. Brakes I didnt have a problem with.

    • @SammyMachethe5716
      @SammyMachethe5716 2 года назад

      Great to hear that you got used to the rear view morror. I was even thinking of ordering a dashcam rear view morror and put it in front of the built in rear mirror... Thanks, I am definitely sure I will get used to it.
      The brakes, I also did not really experience it, but I was deliberate when pressing it to see if I was just missing the issue. In short during my test drive I also didn't feel the issue, thanks for confirming this too

    Your review came at just the right time. I drove this car today and while it's absolutely gorgeous, the pull-away is a pain in the ass. Nothing nothing nothing and then wheel screech! Also had the car become completely unresponsive for about 15seconds at a traffic light. Also noticed that you have to drive it quite hard to get going which makes me worry about the real world consumption. Real talk, how did you find the drive of this vehicle compared to say a Haval H6 (which I'm on the flippen 6 month long waiting list for)? I can get a purple Chery next week, but I'm in 2 minds about it. Help me out please :)

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  2 года назад +3

      I must say I'm surprised that you had such trouble with pull away acceleration. Were you in Eco mode, or at altitude? I found it surprisingly lively all things considered. But the Haval is a performance car by comparison.

    • @IamRu
      @IamRu 2 года назад +1

      @@Hannes_Oosthuizen I tried Normal, Eco and Sport to be honest... other than that, it's a good drive. Oh and the brakes... you have to lean in on it quite a bit to work. It's very different to most other newer cars. Sounds like I'm nitpicking here, but i feel those 2 things are pretty important. Have you driven the Haval H6 and if so, between the 2, which one would you go for?

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  2 года назад +3

      Yes I have driven the H6. As I said above, it's a "performance car" by comparison. But in my view, as a family car that's not going to be driven in a mad rush all the time, I found the Chery fine in terms of performance. Personally, I'd go for the Haval (engine and performance), but I'd be happy with the Chery also.

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen

      Are you in Gauteng or at the coast?

    • @IamRu
      @IamRu 2 года назад +1

      @@Hannes_Oosthuizen Thanks Hannes. I'm in Gauteng. I feel that if the Haval had the interior of the Chery it would be a game changer. One other "issue" I'm worried about is reliability on both fronts. Haval seems to have a bit of a better track record from what I can tell? I'm also leaning towards the Haval as it just has a little bit more in terms of safety (auto braking, lane keeping, etc) and tech than the Chery.

    Regarding the SUV's front-wheel drive system, I'm curious about its performance on slippery surfaces such as a sloping dirt road in the countryside or very steep and slippery roads in Cape Town. Can you provide insights into how well it handles these challenging conditions, and if there are any specific features or technologies that enhance its traction and stability in such scenarios?

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there. Like most Chinese cars with a bit more power, throttle application needs to be smooth and sensitive. If you give it too much it will break traction. Of course, now there is an all-wheel drive model, too.

    Hey guys anyone knows if there's all black interior for 8 pro executive?

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen

      Hi. I wouldn't say it's class-leading in that respect. There is some road noise and also I think because of the panoramic sunroof, but it's not terrible enough to be a deal-breaker.

    I am grateful for your review but your delivery skills need a lot of work or otherwise tighter editing. Perhaps you could benefit from a script? I couldn't make it through the whole vid, you're just so needlessly long-winded that even YOU seemed bored by the whole thing. How can I be excited if you look bored to death?
    I promise I'm not trying to be unfair or a dick about all of this btw, I'm a huge believer that us South Africans need to be more present on online platforms and I want you to succeed. If you can polish up your presentation and tighten up your editing then you'll easily get more subs.
    PS Juliet McGuire gets it right - if you can apply her style of fast paced, entertaining delivery and editing to your format I think you'd have a winning combo.

      You are of course right. I just want to emphasise that I know I'm not an entertainer, I'm an old school journo and quite terrified of the camera. This entire channel exists because I want to get more comfortable in front of the camera. I'm also keen to see how far I can get on zero budget (cellphone and free editing software). Anyways all of that aligns with what you pointed out so thanks! Appreciate the frank input.

      I agree with you 100%...i lost the zeal to watch the whole video within 5 minutes...his vocabulary is so some how limited as if he is an intermediate English learner...on fuel economy he just said the car does a ten or eleven, i wonder 10 or 11 what. A UK auto journalist like Matt Watson could teach him a lot on how to improve himself despite limited resources...
