Comedians have taken an equally bad hit too, for their shows are cancelled, online shows are not even half as paying and it'll take some time to resume. And yet between all this shit, all this negativity, you 4 are bringing out the best!!! I LOVE THIS PODCAST AND I LOVE YOU GUYS OKAY!!! YOU 4 JUST MAKE MY DAY MAN!

I feel that Kashyap is one of the best director and story teller, but not a good story writer. That is why all the movies with original stories were such great while movies with his stories were not that great. I disagree with Bawa’s view on GoW. It is one of the best movies ever. It was shot as one film of 5hrs length but nobody was ready to back it. Hence it was broken in two parts. Also the story was written by Definite.

Exactly. But for him and other town guys, it's hard to understand the nuance of Wasseypur. Back me up, for people who have spent significant amount of their lives in the interiors of North India, Wasseypur is 80-90 percent relatable. Little example, when the siren going on scene in Dhanbad, all the people who have lived near a coal field or any mining field they absolutely felt nostalgic. That being said, Wasseypur is the epitome of cinema and will always be and it was not just Kashyap's baby, it was also Piyush's, Zeishan's and Tigmanshu's. This movie is a top tier benchmark for Indian Film Industry.

This is 56 year old "uncle" from Chicago once again. Now today's topic was right up my alley with you guys discussing movies that I grew up on - Sholay, Shakti, Amar Akbar Anthony etc.
Bawa was absolutely right about the audio cassette of Sholay. My school friend and I were 11 year olds and we had memorized the whole thing from dialogues to the background music to the goats bleating. Small piece of trivia - the only Filmfare award it won that year (1975) was for Editing. Best Film went to Deewar.
I was a teen when Shakti was released and "aaj ghar mein Shakti ho gaya" was code with your friends for when u had a tiff with your dad. Amar Akbar Anthony was a "first day first show" movie that I saw at Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra. For the benefit of your younger viewers, in those days there were only 4 shows in the day -Noon, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm. Watching a movie in the 12pm show on the first Friday of release was a hard fought badge of honor.
Btw, speaking of Manmohan Desai tropes as Kautuk did, and the shock that Bawa had when discovering that Yash Chopra directed Deewar, they would be even more surprised to note that the first movie to showcase the paradigm of "bichdey huey bhai" was the 1965 Yash Chopra movie Waqt starring Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Balraj Sahni. And no you S.O.B.s, even i was too young to watch it then as a 1 year old 😊 Keep going.

Thank you, guys, for the laughter, smiles, and pure joy!
Tuesdays used to be mundane just like every other day now but this keeps our spirits lifted!
We've all had a terrible start this week...thank you for this.

I love TISS, it's been a good time pass, makes me laugh after a tiring day in this lockdown with 2 young kids. I would want you guys to speak about mental health as it's such a taboo in our society. I want u guyz to casually talk about it ,educate n entertain as most of your audiences are young people.

32:56 About that Johnny lever sidetrack - he himself says it was intentional as johnny was banned in UAE so they won't release the movies in Dubai and all if johnny was a part of it.
However since Johnny had become extremely popular in India, they'd shoot his sidetrack for our audience and cut it out when releasing abroad wherever he was banned.

There is a documentary series called The 90s India which is kind of explainatory and often cuts to Indian celebs talking about their experiences. So in one part they are talking about the advent of Internet in India. Dia Mirza talking about the very nostalgic AOL connection tune and some other random celebrity talking about the Internet and then Ram Gopal Varma talking about access to porn. Absolute legend.
