- Hello RUclipsrs! Welcome to another episode. Today we are at Day 2 of Met Regatta competing in a different cup vs Day 1 but still in the same championship single category. Yesterday started the regatta as a whole off very well rowing 2k on the water faster than I ever have before. Today I wanted to try some different strategies and it ended up paying off! I came away with another PB and probably the most successful string of racing I have ever done in the single. Really positive signs for the work I have been doing so looks like I will continue with that! I hope you enjoy!

I'm so glad you post each step of your journey, Cam. I've been with you through the years and it still gives me a thrill when you succeed. I've learned a lot from you including the importance of perseverance and positivity. Here's to your continued improvement and success.
Sometimes I question whether or not to do but we are in it together now!! Thanks for the support
Kudos on the hard work having demonstrable payoffs Cam.
Near 6 years later (for me), you're still motivating with your videos.
Thanks for being here!
Nice silverware! Thoroughly deserved.
Lovin that silverware - well done Cam excellent job 👏
Well done again cam. Positivity cycle continues
Thank you! 💪 🍠
Well done Cam now you’re getting to enjoy the rowing journey again and you should be proud of yourself after all that hard work you put in.
Big congratulations !
Can't tell by the angle of the camera...which C2 blades are you using? Fat Smoothies? Smoothie 2's?
Neither, using their comp blades
Nice bro keeep on 17:26
I’ve been keeping up with your rowing videos and you push me through every erg workout! Thank you so much for your enjoyable content!
The sucking for breath at 14:46 is familiar. I've not done any other sport that can make me feel like that.
You deserve more views on these videos the content you make is amazing and help young rowers like myself stay motivated
🎉Congrats Cam. Huge weekend for you and the Yam Squad. Your rowing form looks great this season. Keep it going. I want to see you at Henley again.
Definitely making steps forward!
All that sea rowing has been fab, eh? Congratulations!!! Bloody well deserved! Even though the title says it all, i still watched with my heart in my mouth!!!!
It definitely has been helping!
Thanks for watching!
Well done, Cameron!! Very much deserved!!! 👏👏👏
A fantastic weekend of racing. Congratulations Cam. It's brilliant to see. Class. Onwards!
rowing the single well is one thing...rowing the single well _and putting the power down_ is another thing altogether...congratulations...I feel inspired to row better !!
where did u buy ur boat
It’s from oarsport UK, wintech 💪
So happy for you Cam!!! 💪💪💪
Will you be at Henley this year?
Like I said in the video, seeing how everything is weighed up
WOOO, sweet improvements Cam, well done, 7:03 is an awesome time in a single, you are really getting there with the blade height on those power strokes, not too deep and you're covering more distance per stroke, it looks smooth. Big Congrats! Yam Squad is proud of you
The final is in the video!
Heck yeah! Congratulations, Cam! You continue to inspire us all!
Great racing. Congrats. Keep moving forward. And thanks for the continued coverage.
Brilliant! Such great progress in the past few months - well dome Cam!
It’s the new sunglasses! Orange ones in the bin has transformed your fortunes !
Definitely not on the bin!!!
Sungod would be happy to hear that though!
Yesssssss you won 💪
GUYS HE'S FIGURED OUT THE RUclips TITLES
Easy to make titles like that when it’s very true 😂
Well done Cam, thats so good. Your such a beast, please do not give up. Success will keep coming!
Thank you!
That's some seriously nice silverware! Glad to see your training pays off!
By the way, Melvin Twellaar won the Holland Beker last year in 7:04... so maybe a little trip to Amsterdam is in order next year ;)
I heard there’s an interesting prize for that too!
@@CameronBuchan it will certainly pay back the travel expenses :)
Great! 2 for 2. Your attitude in the "down" times is always positive, and your demeanor here is humble. I'd have been slapping the water and pumping my fist. Brits. Go for Henley, definitely. Ollie is waiting.
Good job Inhope I will get that goog
Super stoked and proud of you, Cam! Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers from the US
Thank you!! Thanks for watching 🍠
Great work. I feel motivated by this.
What are the new sunglasses?
Well done Cam. I’m proud of your hard earned performance. Keep it up!!
Congratulations again! Back-to-back intense racing days with fast times, control of the race and control of the water. Respect.
I'll join my thanks to all those below who appreciate how you have taken us along on your journey, reminding us to stay centered and calm, focus on goals, and deal with the hand that we are dealt.
Thank you for letting us know about the possibility of your racing at Henley Royal Regatta. I'd been wondering if that might happen and how you manage regatta plans at your level of racing.
Congratulations! 🎉
Fantastic weekend of racing Cam, well done. 8k at race pace over two days, winning a time trial and two PB's when it mattered most...
and did'nt get sick once 😡😁. Whatever you are doing ,keep doing it, it's brilliant to see. Congratulations 💪💪
The sick will no doubt arrive at some point!!!
Congrats Cam on a brilliant weekend! Keep up the good work!
I have to ask where the shades are from? they are marvelous!!
Thank you!
They are from SunGod! I hope to have a code for the yamsquad soon!
Aw yeah! Risk it for the biscuit! Glad the different strategies paid off!
Is really good to be in a position of fitness where I can change the strategies and not have the wheels completely fall off! 💪
Wooooow, Congratulations🎉🎉🎉
Cam, Can you please connect me with the XXL coastal boat supplier you mentioned? Thanks. - Will
For sure!
Send me over an email at contact@yamsquad.com and I’ll get you in touch with my swift contact!
Cam, BIG CHEERS from Noosa, down under. I will be wearing my Yamaquad unisuit with great admiration of your achievements!
May your great joy continue!
Thank you! That’s awesome! I hope you can wear it with pride!
What a beast
You are a beast! Well done, what weight class are you? What boat are you rowing? Fantastic content, thanks.
I’m a heavyweight rower! Not sure if I could get down to lightweight at 204cm 😅 I’m in a wintech international 🫡
Double Congrats 🎉🎉🎉
O yeeeeee
I’m glad you explained as I didn’t realise that there were two events over the weekend so even more impressive after Saturday’s full on Yamming to go out and do it all again whilst improving. Great to see a plan coming together and getting the deserved results - the only loser being BR (but that’s just my opinion!)
Onwards & upwards 😎
Yeah it occurred to me that it wasn’t obvious!
Feels good to be finding speed again for sure. Sweeter for other reasons too that probably best to keep behind the scenes!
Congratulations on your win! Are you working with a coach and a team, or independent?
Thank you! At the moment I am training solo
Chuffed for you, Cam
Solid results there Cam, onwards and upwards. Glad your happy with the results, I'm super happy.
Happy Yamsquad 💪
Are their time standards for the GB team as their are for the USA team ?
Not on the water no.
What’s the single standard for US?
A Quick Look at last years selection procedures one would have to be within 97 percent of 6:32 , there are also underlying weather factors that are applied.
Thanks!
What happens if the conditions on qualifying races aren’t fast enough to produce those times?
Edit: had a look at the times from this year. Can see the standards are more of a guideline rather than anything else.
Further down are the standards for U23 I was off in the first reading , I did not go further into it initially 7:05 for U23 Here are the procedures , pages 6-8 s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/usarowing.sidearmsports.com/documents/2023/11/15/2024_U23_Selection_Procedures_20231115.pdf
Looks to me like every team is the same. They have a target time but don’t really use it in selection
Incredible coverage!
Thanks! Think these videos came out well!
Marvelous, so pleased for you!
Well done Cam, greatresults! They might even encourage some of the Yam Squad to pop down the beach sometime soon!
Thank you!
Hopefully! That’d be awesome!
So happy for you Cam! It's wonderful to see the work you've done, the progress you've made, and results that must certainly be encouraging. Way to go!
Thank you!
Well done Cam! So good to see the result of all your work. 👍
Thank you!
well done :)
Fantastic, congratulations! What a great weekend for you, well done 🎉
Great to see you getting faster and winning is a bonus. Fantastic trophy 👏🏼🏆
Congratulations #yamsquad
Great work out there Cam
Fantastic stuff......good to see you enjoying it as well💯💪😎
good work broseph
Super job Cam! Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Way to go!
Great job Cam! Hope you continue to see improvements in form and can’t wait to see you at Henley!
Nice work! 💪💪
Boom Cam
Great win! They also give pretty cool looking medals if I recall correctly!
It’s in the video 😅
@CameronBuchan just saw that, they are indeed cool!
Congrats Cam!
Would of won World Cup 2 b final very impressive well done cam
Can’t really compare times across different races. Too many variables!
@@CameronBuchan that’s a great point but I’d take it anyway 😂well done again
Would of won b final at World Cup 2 very high level cam well done
Beautiful! 2000m row …….. like a lifetime packed into ~7 min. All emotions, all feelings, all thoughts, the ups, the downs and in the end the final transcendence. Very good video , Thanks /. Thomas
Glad you liked it Thomas. Thanks for the support 💪
@@CameronBuchan your videos are an excellent source of inspiration for me, an aged weekend worrier, who cross train on all concept2 machines. The rower is my favorite and hope to try a real scull one day. 6:48 is my record for 2000m after much training and many failed attempts, so I know the challenge, which makes your composed row for 7:03 even more impressive , RESPECT!
@@thomasnejman3437 cool to be an inspiration!
Just so you’re aware, time on the rowing machine and time on the water are very different things! Especially in a single. Generally an erg is similar to a coxless 4 in speed. My actual 2k on the erg is a lot faster than the 7:03
@@CameronBuchan sorry, Fully aware , realize now that my message came across wrong. From all the following of your Chanel and my own rowing on an erg, I understand the “ miles differences” between the erg and the water. ( I even know your personal best on an concept 2 from all watching, 😂, so sorry again for not coming across as humble as I am)
Incredible race! Cheers from Canada!
Congrats brother! You earn it 🚣
No waves - easy peasy. Smacking less in the time trial and the final. Nice!
There were one or two small ones! 😅 strategy changed did help!
