I have been lucky enough to have several correspondents with Forrest Fenn. His tales are so familiar to me, as I too was an adventurous young one, and enjoyed the solitude of the mountains, streams, and such. But I also know him well enough to know he is extremely intelligent and careful with his words and answers. He didn't write his poem over night, and he tells it all in the poem. He's had to add things because people did some "not too cool and sometimes dangerous things" to find his treasure. We must remember that while he was a very fit man, he also was very sick for some time when he decided to finally "put it there". He did it spur of the moment, in the night, when he knew peering eyes would not catch him. He also admits that he's secretly checked to make sure it's still there. Living in New Mexico myself, knowing how this state is, I am willing to bet that he did not leave this state to hide his treasure. But, I also know that it will not be easy to find. Only one who knows ALL the nooks and crannies of the areas above Santa Fe, can truly know all the secret places. There are so many places, undisturbed and unravelled here. I do know this, he wants everyone to experience the beauty of nature and the mountains and feel how he felt. I know he's very pleased to hear everyone's search adventures. But I truly believe that it's not as far away as everyone thinks, and as the saying goes, "if it was a snake, it would have bit you". Forrest admits that a few searchers were right there and didn't find it. Humm? I'd go over everyone's search areas, and see who may have come close. I think I know where it is, not exactly, but that's the thrill isn't it? I do pray, for my friend Forrest's sake, that it's found while he still is alive, as that would be a moment he would enjoy more than any moment in his life. Happy hunting!
Lagunaberry IPS & TruthFinder I really hope whoever finds it returns his Mesa Verde bracelet
Well - Dude Motel - might have been onto something there lady!
It's sounds like Forrest is saying Madison river is a place that has no clue to it but too far to walk he said the second time never came.
So he couldn't have hid the chest there.
Great job over the years... I didn't find the chest either, and Forrest Fenn is my hero, too. My solve which I never got a chance to check from Massachusetts in 2019 or 2020 was this: "warm waters halt" in summer Madison River as is exits YNP Park County Wyoming and crossed into USFS Gallatin County Montana 8/10 mile north of Baker's Hole leading under highway bridge into the "cold water" in Hebgen Lake. "Take it in the Canyon down" would then be US287 North Red Canyon to Earthquake Lake Slide, Madison River Canyon, "too far to walk" keep driving north on US287 pass Sagebrush Flats on your left, keep following Madison River Valley, turn left and drive across Lyon's Bridge Cameron, Montana. "Don't make the alligator angry until you have crossed the river" put in is the boat ramp by the Lyon's bridge. "Home of Brown" is then likely Madison river "50 mile riffle" north of Lyon's Bridge where Forrest and his parents caught Brown trout for years or Lyon's Guard Station near Lyon's Bridge. "The end is ever drawing nigh" go left from bridge and toward the West Fork of Madison River, 24 lines in poem, 24 Sundance Bench Rd West Fork Cabins Fenn's summer home 1970's to 1986. Plus Forrest drew airstream trailer in this direction with his Dad 1986 driving from Temple, Texas and back there again 1700 miles. Great son to his Dad. "No place for the meek" West Fork area Joe Meek, and Osborne Russell were there is a Historical sign at Parking lot. "Caddis Hatch" sign there too along Madison River talking about Brown trout. "No paddle up your creek." Follow Gazelle creek by hiking up hill Trail 31 (across from West Fork Cabins) near West Cow Camp "your soul is empty until you have loved a Cow". In the poem the two longest lines have 31 letters, two in a row, two trips up Trail 31 from Forrest's car. Forrest was in the 31st Air Force unit in Vietnam. Follow trail 31 USFS Beaverhead National Forest pass "heavy loads" 3 lumbering areas with great views, listen good "listen closely" to crescent moon drawing, Forrest lumbering in USFS with dove "go in peace". Your are closing on the chest now. Climb toward Gold Butte around 7000 feet. "Title to the gold" means name of Gold. "Blaze" is one your left because "blaze" is key word in 31 letters second line in poem. This area is USFS Bad luck Creek Quadrant '"Bad luck can always be trusted." There is a red "9" on the USFS map by Gazelle Creek Overlook & Gold Butte, 9th clue area. "Look quickly down your quest to cease." Look down Gazelle Creek rivulet running down hill toward GAZElle Creek Overlook "but tarry scant with marvel gaze" Gaze in the word of Gazelle and they move quickly. You see mountains, smell sage, Douglas fir pine trees, and see animals... The chest may have been here under the stars for ten years, it's remote, close to family spots, and the chest hid under the stones rock cliff or stone cairn... Early version of the poem: "If you have been wise and found the stones (blaze), take the chest but leave my bones." Or I'm complete wrong like everyone else. I hope Forrest and the winner release the 9 clues so we can all achieve some peace of mind. I have been involved in the search since Today show February 2013. A part time hobby all those years while working full-time, raising four kids, taking care of a sick Father, Aunt, and Uncle. Life is busy. It was tough trying to be a Fenn Searcher in Massachusetts. I only made one trip out West in 2018 but I met Forrest at Collected works with my son Brendan after driving across the US. We then saw New Mexico, Wyoming, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Montana. Gallatin Canyon where they filmed the final scene in "River Runs Through it" Director Robert Redford movie was my favorite spot! So amazingly beautiful...
Most of your videos point to the Madison and 9MH. I bet it’s cool to look back and know you were right about so many things related to the solve. Even as simple as the solve is it still took 10 years for someone to solve. Good Job Shannon.
Thank you! I just didn’t think FF would have put it in the park. Oh how things could have been different if I didn’t shut that down as a possibility.
Thank you for creating these videos! I was down with a cold last week and came across the Forrest Fenn story. I have a geography degree and I hike in my spare time! I'm in this now. I live in Canada and don't really have the means to do a real search for myself (one day maybe) But I just find this so fascinating and would be happy for whoever finds the treasure!
he claimed very carefully that there are only "subtle hints" in the book in no certain order and to keep it simple and follow the Poem itself..
the trip home from the bathing hole is ALL downhill... He would have coasted the entire way. The road hugs the riverbank the entire way. He would have made it home in far less time and would not have peddled much at all.
If the references in his too far to walk book can be cross referenced with the thrill of the chase, then I would say you are onto something. Because you should be able to solve the poem with only the the thrill of the chase according to Fenn. On page 59/60 in the thrill of the chase Fenn says a Map of the Gallatin National Forest that would really come in handy later on.
Shannon, Great job with your video. Well done!
I know Wild Bill Cody named one of his children Kit Carson. I know Carson National Forest was named after a Kit Carson but not Codys son. Possibly someone Cody looked up to.And oddly enough Carson National Forest is in New Mexico. It is possible the story's about Yellowstone retain to New Mexico in some way or another. You could probably find the link between the two.
Was going to buy books until i saw they cost 80$ each. I learned that scam in college. Not gonna do it.
Go to the Collected Works Bookstore website!!! Much cheaper than that on there.
@J C - Fenn says all you need to find the treasure is his poem, a good map, and Googleearth.
He doesn’t mention buying a book.
I’ve read both books and I think I know where he hid the treasure, but I don’t know how to get to that exact spot. In other words, I have figured out the general location of the trash room
He also was old and had cancer , carrying a almost 50 lb box around with him , that's heavy aint going too far walking with that weight . Also , he said after he hid it , as he was walking back to his car ..... So it can't be too far off a roadway or from somewhere you can park a car and walk a short distance
He only carried half the weight each trip to where he placed it. But I agree that it can’t be too far from where he parked his car.
Just starting this insane search, but whether or not anyone can carry a heavy box anywhere seems to me to be a moot point if you consider using a pushcart to transport the box. Or mule. Or a horse, even. What may be too far us people to walk would surely be not too far to ride a horse, and youre not technically WALKING if youre riding a horse.
I dont have the money to travel and hunt for it...but I would like to see someone find it this year. So, i'm sharing my two different solves.
Solve #1: WWH..Firehole river, and Madison river junction. Take it in the canyon down...go down to West Yellowstone, put in below the home of Brown. Put in below lake hebgen on the Madison river....go all the way down the madison river until it almost ends...there will be two creeks on the right side of river, take the first creek that leads up to Blaze Mountain and all of the lakes. Like Mirror lake, Spanish Lakes, etc... That's all i have for that solve.
Solve #2: WWH...Boiling river and Yellowstone river junction. Go to Gardiner, and put in below where Joe Brown's house is or was...Well, the yellowstone river is geographically below Jardine where Joe brown was thought to live. Now take the Yellowstone river to where there is no place for the meek: That would be Hellroaring Mountain up stream on the Yellowstone river, go to Floating Island Lake. It is a lake right by Hellroaring mountain, and this location fits the hint in the preface of Forest's book. Gardiner's Island. There is only one lake near Gardiner with the name Island in it...and it just so happens to be up the yellowstone river from Gardiner, by Hellroaring Mountain...no place for the meek. Meek definition: Quiet, gentle, submissive.....the polar opposite of hellraisers.
I dont have a solve for the blaze at that location though....maybe Garnet Hill, garnet is a precious stone that is known to have "fire"...so..anyways.
Ty for your info im homeless n no money but i have more time to spend looking than everyone that is looking for it when i get time n done searching my 3 spots ihave piked out i will go search your 2 picks for a bit
The first time I read the poem, I had the impression that you had to take a boat down a river through a canyon.
I think the chest is hidden in a small "hole" close to a riverbank with a pine tree, most likely covered by pine needles/leafes and dirt/small stones. And ofc, most likely close to a riverbend with the green shallow waters, wildlife nearby, sagebushes ("If I was standing where the treasure chest is, I'd see trees, I'd see mountains, I'd see animals. I'd smell wonderful smells of pine needles, or pinyon nuts, sagebrush-and I know the treasure chest is wet.) Wet from rain/condensation maybe, in the hole :)
Another thing I cant stop thinking about - In an interview, he mentioned that he hid the chest BEFORE he knew that Canada wouldnt be a part of the map in the book. Ofc Canada isnt a part of the states where the treasure is hidden, but what if we need to start somewhere in south canada to find WWWH, and then take the canyon down to one of the treasure-states? (Havent slept much, been reading too much/watching videos about this chase the last 48 hours xD.. )
Idk if any of this can be usefull to anyone, was just my mind flying :) Time for bed!
AND, great video! I agree with the others, you look great!
I've drawn similar conclusions, I've had trouble finding a solve from Canada though
Here is my opinion. And like you stated very well it’s an opinion. Not trying to squash other solves. In my opinion we are all wrong till it’s found.
So, my opinion. Fenn reminds me a lot of my grandpa. A man of the woods who was a great storyteller. After many years I heard the stories a thousand times. There are people close to Fenn that have heard his stories way more than we have read and interpreted them yet they haven’t found the chest. I think the spot he hid the treasure is special to him and doesn’t talk about it at all. I struggle to think why this guy would write a cryptic poem and then hide it in an area he talks about the most. It doesn’t make sense.
So, I think the biography that was supposedly hidden with treasure will reveal why this spot is special. The last place I’m looking is where he talks the most about. Just my rambling opinion though.
I don’t think he actually talks about that actual “special place”... I just think it has to be in the vicinity of the places he talks about the most.
And Fenn said that he took out of his biography why his special place is special. Apparently it was too personal. I sent him an email and told him I’d exchange his bracelet for the reason behind his special place, and he responded “then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore. Sorry.”
The Odious Soul And I just think differently. Not saying I’m right. Just going from my past experience. I have my spot where I would lay my bones. A spot that is not only beautiful but also special to me. Thing is I’ve never told a soul about that spot and for sure would not talk about it if I hid my treasure there. Especially if I was going to go die there and didn’t want family finding me. And I don’t think giving out the area is a subtle hint sprinkled throughout a book.
Great video. I like all the viewpoints. I think conversation is good! Please keep them coming and good luck on A Gypsy’s Kiss panel.
As my companies CEO tells me often, “we’ll just have to agree to disagree”. But I do want you to think about my first solve, where I went in April.... Fenn talks about West Yellowstone and YNP, and a bunch of areas... but I only think I heard him mention Earthlake Lake once in a video. He doesn’t talk about that area much at all. It’s close to where he talks about, and I’m sure he fished along the Madison in that area before the earthquake.... but he doesn’t bring it up. That’s kinda my though around it having to be close to where he talks about but not actually talked about. It’s BIG out there! It could literally be anywhere.
And thank you! I’ll try not to embarrass myself too much. 😂😂😂
The Odious Soul would love to talk to you about my solve. Do you have an email address you can be contacted at?
My last comment for the day: Why hasn't anyone pointed out the bit about "Put in blah blah blah"?? The only way to fufill the requirement to "put in" is to PUT A BOAT INTO THE WATER. Or is that point one of those 'everybody knows' things?
AnnBearForFreedom not necessarily a boat, but yes. I assume that when you come to the home of brown you have to get in the water.
@@Puffyblakeful Boat, canoe, raft, truck inner tube.... Is it called "putting in" when just your body enters the water by itself like for swimming or wading? Dunno.
@@Puffyblakeful So, in other words, one could probably rule out potential "home of brown"s that do not allow access to water? Hmm...
AnnBearForFreedom because he wants to lead you to the water. It doesn’t necessarily mean you HAVE to be in a boat. Especially since there’ll be no paddle up your creek.
I take it to mean you have to get in the water and walk upstream
@@Puffyblakeful Entirely possible. I'm waiting for all my thoughts to gel before I settle on a "home of brown" or which creek there will be no paddle upping.
No, he didnt feel a moral obligation to help ppl find the treasure by his own words. He said as much, and said it could take 10,000 years. And no he didn't feel very bad, and definitiely not responsible for the people that died let alone spend money (in his own words).I believe there is a treasure but he doesnt want people to find it, he wants them to LOOK for it and keep looking for it.
So nice to here something on TFTW! I don’t have it but I just might need to get a copy:)
Maybe that smoked spot on the mountain is the blaze.
that's what i was thinking too
Maybe this will help everyone narrow the search down, Fenn had to be in fifties or sixties when he buried the treasure. He lived in Santa Fe and said he made the trip in one day and two trips to hide the treasure once he was at the spot. Yellowstone is too far to make that trip in one day. Think about driving time and then distance he had to walk to take two trips to the hiding place.
Shannon, Great Video! Please expand on your thoughts on the Tombstone in Wyoming.. What were you hinting to??? "Mary M. Wife of Chas" - Chas IS short for "Chase" OR M.C. Madison Canyon? Just my thoughts...
As crazy as this sounds, I chase every rabbit I can find but I put down "too far to walk" after about 5 stories. I realized I was quickly forgetting where I read particular Fenn quotes, phrases & sentences. You make me want to go back and finish it but I really felt at the time that what I read in TTOTC was becoming clouded with outside information.
In bathing is best chapter, you tell us that this chapter is important, and then near the end, you say that we need to think about this. My only point is anyone's video is, supply the people the facts. I personally don't do videos - right now, but I personally believe any sort talk about "potential solves" or "I think" or "maybe" or "I guess" or I don't know" blows any theory out of the water. I personally, truly believe that the best videos are completely factual. That's the way some one is going to find Indulgence. I personally think small videos are best. several minute videos showing logical and factual information on a per chapter basis. Point out highlights, stick to the facts. You're intelligent so you know that Fenn has said and I am paraphrasing - that solo searchers have the best chance at finding the treasure, since they are thinking for themselves.
The only way you can enhance that thought process for viewers is to provide factual information that can be backed up with proof, which needs to be shown to the searchers. I don't mean for this to sound pompous or strict or "egotestical", but some one that is still doing videos must understand, that what a Video does to most people is pull the searcher off their potentially logical path, distracting them and maybe derailing them all together. By going down the logical and factual trail, not only are you helping the searcher community to get back on track, but your helping yourself. The dust jacket for The thrill of the Chase tells you what is needed to find Indulgence, and if it wasn't true, Forrest Fenn wouldn't have said so - on the dust jacket. Now, within The Thrill of the Chase, there are soooooo many contradictory comments purposely thrown around in that book that it looks like a bar brawl in my mind. Weed out the truth and that will help some one find their way. Good Luck, Happy Treasure Hunting, wishing you and yours all the best.
I think the treasure is in yankee jim canyon in one the waterfalls of that canyon
This place i feel is a very close second on where the treasure might lie. I know Fenn said where he placed the treasure he had the next 10,000 years in mind plus it is in the 5000 ft elevation range dalneitzel.com/video/fishing/sl01.html, dalneitzel.com/video/fishing/sl02.html, and dalneitzel.com/video/fishing/sl03.html
Can't take any thing from a national forest, so no treasure is there,, and in the last reading ,it says please stay at least 20 miles away
I've been researching this for awhile now... Maps, the Poem, videos... The one thing that stands out to me now is the man himself,...Mr. Fenn, and his life story. What a nice, decent guy. I hope it's found soon. I think it'll give him a lot of satisfaction. I'd say lets throw him a party on some lonely BLM land afterward, but, 20,000 people would probably show up!
Scientific animal names are capitalized, used to be both genus and species. Nowadays just the genus is capitalized
Bathing the fire hole is that Fenn's reference to the BLAZE. Why i give you this is i'm from New Zealand as a child spent what seems alive time trout fishing the rivers, while your there you feel connected to the Earth and for those that have done this will know what i'm saying to themselves if i die this is where i'd love to be buried. Myself will never get to America to look but remember me if this helps lol good luck you way never find the actual treasure but being out their is a real treasure in it's self.
Great job. You gave me a few things to think about.
love u r videos I'm excited
Hi,
Has anyone taken his writing sytem/style and applied it to the poem? I have seen folks dissect his poem in writing style, but not how he writes.
Thought your video was interesting. FYI, noticed you wore a blue shirt and I think that was the hue in the background that obscured the pictures.
It’s actually my poor green screen... shadows and extra light sources create distortion in the background images. I don’t have the extra space to create a “real” studio. 😒
In your video you assume people know why your in YNP. The Bathing is best wasn't included in the Thrill of the Chase, but it did appear on Fenns' blog and then included in too far to walk. I about to start this journey and will be out west this summer. Even without the book(s) I can clearly see why it very well could be YNP, I have a few alternate theories, but there are other places that are near and dear to his heart as well. Fenn knew that people are greedy, over look and over simplify. I won't say much more until I have read the books which are waiting on Fenn's autograph. Once they are here, I post my generic thoughts on my blog. I want this as much as the travel, and to get out and about is the best thing anyone can do. For those that criticize anyone for posting a video, they don't realize two things. One is a person posting the video is willing to share SOME of the information they know. The other is, they are hoping that some one will come along and spark the thought that answers their question in the comments. For those that are brash about the content of videos are either tooo naive to think on their own, or unable to see things in a different view. He DOES say you need the poem, the book and a good map. Good luck in your quest.
What is your blog? I’d like to check it out. And best of luck in this crazy chase.
@@TheOdiousSoul Why it's at www.missionincredible.org, it will be under the blog, or under the Forrest Fenn category. I'll be adding more to this when the books arrive.I have requested the autographed copies (7 total) from the Collected Works Bookstore and Coffeehouse out of Santa Fe. When they arrive, the blog entries will be more common. Shhhhhh I like to think out of the box. = ) . The treasure is more than enough for one person. It's nice to share.
thanks for your video. I'm new to this story but I'm learning from your channel :)
I came up with Cleveland...should I revise and tweak? :P
😂😂🤣
..look in the ashes of the Cuyahoga river.
He said numerous times that the hints relate to figuring out the clues and the places that he talks about in his stories are NOT hints and they certainly aren't clues. You missed that part about "bullseye" which appears to be a chapter but is really a caption to a photo. Also, why does a question mark not end the chapter title "why was I not mad at him"....hmmm
Find warm waters halt then a Canyon, thenToo far to walk, some say 2 miles, I think its about 5 miles to the home of Brown... What do you think???
My original home of Brown was much too far to walk... it is like 20 miles to the put in from my TFTW.
Shorter distance makes more sense
I’m still looking for a shorter distance that makes sense. It’s tough when we find places that fit the clues so well, and then you try to look for alternatives. Oh the woes of this treasure hunt!!!
U got some good observations. I been on the hunt since 2013
wana go again im leaven from oregon spring 2019.
I'd like to do a walk about and see what I could see. Cheers
Just as an observer, it would seem very useful to connect the most popular or famous searchers with the date Fenn said people have gotten within 200’ of the treasure. Based on my own research there are about two dozen searchers who have had semi regular contact with Fenn through email, and that the only way he would know how close people have gotten is through their pictures/emails. To me, this is the paramount fact and lead, if you can identify the two dozen most popular folks who search, you’ll notice some similar solves among them. 👍
I think you're wrong, I think Forest Fenn wants to obtain Celebrity Status (nothing wrong with that goal, but look how he mentions celebrities he sold artifacts to). A man that would hide a treasure won't be on TV all the time if he was a private person.
Great work! ...and I can’t believe you have a fifteen yr. old. ....Treasure hunting must keep you young!
She’s 16 now 🙈
It's under home plate in Yankee Stadium
😂😂🤣
But he also said in an interview that if he meant too far to walk, he didn’t mean because you follow a river, because then he would have said too far to swim.
That doesn’t mean a road doesn’t run parallel. And after that he says put it. What are you putting into??? And I haven’t heard that quote before, and can’t find anything on tarryscant... can you please provide the source?
Enjoyed this video. Thank you
You should read out loud the books cover to cover as a video. Soliloquy comments too.
So, listen...people that say Fenn says there are only subtle hints in the books - listen to what you are saying. You are differentiating between the words clue and hint. If any other time in your life, if someone asked you what the word hint means, wouldn't you say its a hint of some sort. Vice versa. They are the same thing, guys. Clues...hints...same. Also, I know it is easy to believe that subtle means small or piddly or less important, but in reality subtle means secret. Period. So a subtle clue is the same as subtle hint, and they both mean secret evidence leading to a solution. Adding the word only is Fenn's way to divert attention. If there are only subtle hints in the books, that means EVERYTHING in the book is a hint. Good luck, guys.
Derek Lenzen while using “English” you may be right, but it’s generally accepted slang. The clues relate to the treasure, the hints are things that can help you solve the clues. They ARE slightly different in this treasure hunting subculture
The treasure is on w Denny road in Montana in rumbaugh Creek
I thought the same but followed denny tell i got to trapper creek
I think so to. Remember me. Please
Where he was logging as a young boy.
If you look up on the mountain side, to the right. There's a snow shaped squirl facing you. Nature's after thought
Fenn said he can see Pinyon Pine from his treasure. There is no Pinyon pines in MT and only a few of the Pinyon trees in Southwest WY.
It's in California the blaze is in northern California
😂😂🤣
Maybe the blaze is a trail pioneers and trappers like Meek had to blaze trails maybe there’s a trail after the devils slide then look down maybe in a creek
Forrest Fenn has stated that somebody has come within a hundred feet of the treasure. Here's the big question... How did he know?
Right?? How did he know?? I want to know this as well! Does he have a trail cam set up?
He has people constantly e-mailing him about where they're going and where they looked. He said that person got that close but he's not going to tell who it was so they don't go crazy retracing their steps and to not give one person the advantage. They told him where they went and I'm sure that's how he knows how close they were.
Within 200’... not 100’. But people definitely tell him where they went. It has to be somewhere close to something that is easily describable.
@@TheOdiousSoul on one video I heard him say within 12 ft from being where they could see it. How would he know
@@1topskyrocket The actual quote is "...I have not said a searcher was closer than 12' from the treasure. It is not likely that anyone would get that close and not find it." This would go back to whatever the blaze is, and how it is hidden.
I just found your channel tonight. I got back yesterday from a week in Ennis Montana searching for his treasure. I have really enjoyed your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for positive feedback and for watching! I’m really enjoying making them.
where he took the bath in hot spring could that be where the warm water halt...not far but too far to walk can it be the reason he had to ride a bicycle
Tom, the poem says "waters" (plural). It's an odd use and, to me, may have nothing to do with water at all. Could be a road.
@@robertmiller9391 sounds like freezing to me ;)
He also said he has never been back 2 that spot. How can he hide the treasure there if he never went back??
He said he never went back after hiding the treasure there. It was like he was saying goodbye to that place forever.
@@TheOdiousSoul Howdy, I'm band new here. Had a lot of fun with that damned gold horse several years back. Got real close, but somebody beat me to it. ANYWAY... Never physically going back to a place doesn't mean he didn't keep an eye on it. So many ways to do that these days. I listen to not only what people say, but what they don't say as well. See you out there!
He talks about the western edge... border of ynp. Interesting laws about that edge that's in Montana but still ynp.
Oh yeah?!?! Do share!
The Odious Soul I've been searching since 2011. I own Chasechat.com. There's been talk about a section of Yellowstone that's in the state of Montana and because of that...there are some very interesting laws about that section. I don't have any links right now, but there has been a lot of talk over the years about it.
Oh I know who you are! You are famous in this search! I had to Google and might have to do a video around it. The "Zone of Death". Very intriguing!
The Odious Soul, LoL. I look forward to that video. (Wink).
Brand new to the search. I've read a bit, watched your video, and am planning a trip in the next couple of weeks based on a website's 'solve' that has a certain logic to it. One thing I've noticed though, is that most everything I've read to date is focused in the Yellowstone area even though there are numerous hot springs in New Mexico and Colorado that could also be WWWH. Have those states been ruled out for some reason? Thanks.
Nope! All 4 states are still in play.
Names are always capitalized.
Its along the Madison River... Montana is the PLACE thats where all the clues point to in the book I bet...
I agree .. and I have searched there three times so far. Can't wait to go back again ... but it's a 4,000 mile round-trip for me.
Thanks for verifying a lot of things that were going on in my mind. There's one last thing left, for me, which is to head straight towards the Treasure Chest. Thanks a Lot...!!!
You look at the map. The only lake named on the map is Flathead Lake, well known for Bass fishing which is only done in warm waters.
What? Bass can be found in warm or cold water.
U can find his treasure with a plane and heat seeking device the box should stay wormer than the ground once the sun goes down
walter hartland good luck with that. It’s a small 10x10 box possibly buried or underwater. Imagine all the many things that could retain heat across the entire Rocky Mountains.
Remember Blake I think the box was 30pounds I would not carry it far at all
Please don't think! Wow!
Go try to stay in Room N.4 in the Dude... It does not exist anymore. Thing was remodeled and added onto years ago and there is no number 4. I know, I went and tried.
I've thought about it and if a Man has a bath then rides 20 miles on a bike He's still clean, just sweaty.... no problem there, it's a man thing !
😂😂🤣
Hi!
I'm new to this search, so please be patient with me if I ask really dumb questions. 😁
But I was wondering that is it possible to find the treasure with just using the poem and a map and not actually be present at the site?
That all the clues would be in the map and you wouldn't necessarily have to be physically in the location to actually see them?
For example, you would see the location of 'the blaze' or 'water high' in the map when you would understand how to connect the dot and look for them?
Thanks in advance for the replys 😇
No. You have to be at the treasure to identify if it is the correct location.
No matter how confident you are from coming up with your solve with maps, you actually have to find it to claim it. And unfortunately, nature in the Rocky Mountains is a BIG, VAST space. I went with confidence. Had my blaze, and search an area less than a square mile for 5 days. We still didn’t get every rock unturned.
The Odious Soul great, thanks.
Yeah, I thought about what you said about Fenn flying around the rockies and taking in the scenery, so maybe he deviced the plan by looking the area by air, the same as we are looking at the map and finding clues... So the perspective would be different by looking the 'blaze' from up above than looking it in '2d' view in the ground.
Well, I better start making those summer vacation plans and start getting ready to hike the Rockies. 😁 Haha
The Odious Soul ... I totally agree. I have spent hours searching maps etc. and then driving to Yellowstone and spending days / weeks and only covering a few miles of territory -- and the Rockies stretch for hundreds of miles.
Good stuff, lots to think about.
why Idaho Utah he said Wyoming Colorado Montana Sante fee... 1 guy did say home of brown was a man name brown dead man grave it's not buried there but he's home of brown
No he doesn't feel a moral obligation. Thats a joke, he's doing this for his gain not anyone else. Do you think that anyone would buy his books if it wasn't for his phoney treasure hunt?
He didn’t expect anyone to buy TTOTC. The hunt was pretty much just local knowledge until the airplane magazine article. Plus, Forrest hasn’t received any proceeds from TTOTC or TFTW. In fact, the first printing of TTOTC came out of his pocket, so it actually cost him $$$. He also wrote a NUMBER OF BOOKS BEFORE he hid the treasure and wrote TTOTC.
Where ever did you find that map displayed behind you starting at 21:22 ? It's a wonderfully detailed map and I have not seen it before. My apologies if this has been asked and answered
Google “Fenn Treasure Map by Ross Thorn” ✌🏼
Thank you
Wow I need to start looking
I like the video. One odd thing, you have the map scrolling in the background, at one point, and it made me dizzy. By the way, I believe, FF comments, about 600 or 700 miles, in the airplane (is that maximum fuel consumption of the plane is 600 or 700 miles). I think. So he would have to stop, and get more fuel to go further. My personnel pet idea, is that he did, 100% hide the treasure on one of these plane trips. In the video, of FF in 2013, he is questioned about the plane trips. He makes specific reference to his concern about rental car records. So, there could be a huge clue, the plane, the distance max of the plane and the hidden treasure.
I agree! The comment about the rental car is very suspicious! I am sorry I made you dizzy.
We don't capitalize the words "humans" or people. Likewise we don't capitalize "buffalo" as it's not a proper name like Bubalus bubalis, the scientific name for buffalo, in which you only capitalize the first letter of the genus, and the species name is all lowercase. There's nothing there with your caps hypothesis. He is just using proper nomenclature rules. Same is the true for trout. A proper binomial name would be Oncorhynchus mykiss for one spp. Again, first letter of the gens is capitalized, name of spp is not.
Remember though, this is Fenn’s Hunt and Fenn plays by HIS rules. I just showed you in his book the rules he plays by when it comes to capitalizing animal names. It doesn’t matter if the Writer’s Handbook says it’s right, it only matters if Fenn says it’s the way he wants to do it.
All I'm saying is I don't think it's unusual for a guy to not capitalize the words "people, buffalo, or trout" like nobody would, or unusual to capitalize proper names, like anybody would.
I'm just saying I don't think it's unusual for someone to not capitalize words like "people, buffalo, trout" which are all exactly the same kind of word, and I don't think it's unusual to capitalize proper names, like anyone would. That all said, if I ever make it out to look, I'm gonna hide something shiny where I think it is.
The word buffalo would not be capitalized, so maybe I don't understand something about what you're saying about this exerpt from the book. Even if you were to say "American buffalo", only the word American would be capitalized. The same holds true for tiger or Siberian tiger. Could you explain please? Maybe I'm missing something. @theodioussoul
I was saying how Forrest capitalizes. Just because something is proper, doesn’t mean that Forrest follows those rules.
Ahhhhh ok! Thanks for clarifying ! I love your channel!!! You're Amazing!!!!!!!
Ahhhhh ok! Thanks for clarifying ! I love your channel!!! You're Amazing!!!!!!!
I think you were reading too much into the capitalization of the animals. The way Fenn has done it is how I was taught to do it in school.
I still think it was a helpful hint.
Did you mention what the 3rd clue is? Or what answer Fenn gives us? Please explain. Thanks.
IMO... 3rd clue is TFTW, and I feel Fenn defines that in the preface of TFTW book. But that is only my opinion.
10 miles is the distance that is too far to walk is what she get at
8:30
Not far, but too far to walk, is not a clue. It is however a hint. There are 9 clues. When you figure out the location of the 1st clue, which Mr Fenn said was wwwh, there are 8 more clues to go. Each clue leads you to a new position on the map/planet until you get to where the treasure is hidden.
The meaning of Not far but too far to walk is; the distance you have to drive from the 1st clue until you stop driving and begin your trek, is further than the walk to the chest.
Hosted ! Actually I found those very words posted near one of the possible locations. Strange huh?
Whats it been almost 10 years since he hide the tressure....good possibility it will never be found if it really exists
I believe that box is no more than 3 football filds away
If I'm 60 or 70 I wouldn't carry that box no more then 200ft
The animal name capitalization (or not) is a standard editorial practice. I don't think it's relevant. Thanks for the video!
In NM these's clearly the word blaze on the side of the mountain. Time to go hiking!!!
I think too far to walk means he is to old to make the trip back to yellowstone to fish, and not related to 10 miles down river. Maybe 😀
@Arthur Donnally yes, but I believe Forrest is talking about his disappointment that he never got back to Yellowstone to fish. Not that 10 miles is to far to walk. He says "I promised myself that some day I'll make that trip again. That day never came for me..."
Its wet but not in water or in a grave yard
Have you thought that it's on the top of the rock mountains because you can't walk there and the sun glazed so much there
Well done and simple!
I hope fenn stops allowing people 5o bully him..and quit giving clues if it gets easier it wont be fun
To far to walk.... This means two entry's to found the place where the chests is. One is a road and the second is .too far to walk 900 ft.
Home of Brown - Brown Trout...
Brown bear, brown ppl/ native Americans, Brown a persons name.
Next to Madison river is Blaze Mountain. But blaze can also stand for a mark on a tree made out of bark
Or cut out of bark
Or a miner's claim sign
The blaze has to be something that could still be there in 10,000 years. It has to be a rock, mountain, etc. .. signs, buildings, trees all would disappear over time.
Welcome to the state of Iowa! Enjoy!
not far, but too far to walk isn't capitalized because its part of a sentence. Its not a sentence of its own.
She was talking about the title of the book not being capitalized, on the cover.
So Forrest has just told Everyone the chest is not in West Yellow Stone.
1 - Let see, Forrest has not returned to the the place where he hid the chest.
2 - Forrest has been to West Yellow Stone sense he has hiding the chest.
So it cant be in West Yellow Stone. RIGHT ??????
LOL Witch I know its not there or in NM anyway :-)
Wonder if anyone picked up on that before LOL
When was the last time Fenn was in West Yellowstone?
And he said he hasn’t gone back to the location of the chest... even if he went to town, who’s to say that he didn’t hide it a mile or two outside of town?
Omg. Its got nothing to do with the dude hotel.
You need to look at Cspitol Hill and Dude hill glacial kame Yellowstone national park. These clues get you in the area.
Without watching the whole video, what is the answer to the 3rd clue?
The answer to that is close to the beginning ;-)
Not too far, but too far to watch.
the cold could be the like cold hard cash..... not think water cold or caves cold it's June there's no snow
Oh... there is still snow in higher elevations. Some snow never melts, or doesn’t completely go away until late summer.
Maybe u have to kayak to it and get out at the shallow place
Don't believe many of the stories. He once published a story about him being a SR-71 pilot. However, the story he wrote, he ripped it right off from a Major Brian Schul. Fenn didn't even change the name of the navigator Walter. RUclips SR71 Speed Check. So one has to realise, a lot of the stories in his book may not be true, but someone else's stories to throw people off.
Yes, Fenn said all you need is the poem and a good map. He also said that there are some subtle hints in the book. And also all the other hints that he has given since. Some of which are mentioned in this video. So calling her stupid because her opinion doesn’t mesh with yours is uncalled for; and also foolish to dismiss information that could help find the treasure. But that’s ok with me because you are one more person less likely to find it before me.
Ok to look for treasure in winter?
Not Fenn's treasure. You need to wait until the snow above 5,000' is gone.
The story was that Fenn gave them the flat tires...
