    The music already has so much energy written in it, but Kissin injects and blows energy in every phrase, every musical statement, and what you get is the sensation that the music glows and never really flattens out at any point. The accents are sharp, emphatic, and incisive. There is always a round, orotund quality to the way he strikes notes and an urgency in bringing musical contrasts together, which requires a physical and mental stamina that makes his piano playing so distinctive and colorful to listen to.

    This concerto sounds like a better version of Mozart. And on top of that it has the injections of venom and passion that only Beethoven is capable of. Brilliant.

      ferocel Displaying arrogance seems to be another trend in yt! I see your point and I also see Autogen's. Be tolerant.

    • @myAutoGen
      @myAutoGen 10 лет назад

      ferocel You made 2 points.
      1) 'entirely different composer'. This does not in any way contradict this piece being similar in style to Mozart but better.
      2) 'no Mozart -> no this piece'. Probably correct. I never suggested otherwise. Also, I'm not suggesting that this piece was more important to the overall evolution of classical music.
      If you want to be condemning and self-righteous, make sure you are really clear on what the truth is.

      My point doesn't need any further explanation nor defense.

      You did ask for it, music such as Beethoven's doesn't need arrogant trolls like you.

      myAutoGen, thanks for the comments!
      I just wanted to say that the only idea in your comment I don't agree with is the "better" (version of Mozart). I don't think we can make ranks, it would be useless dealing with these two geniuses. Just think about the slow movement of K595 and you won't be able to say who is better than who... :)

    Every fan of Beethoven knows that in his early (first of three) period he was influenced by Haydn and Mozart. This concerto belongs to that period. Jump to the 3rd Concerto and you'll see the difference.

      You mean first of five? Beethoven wrote 5 concertos for piano and orchestra, no?

      The third is still very classical..., the first concerto that shows noticeable romantic qualities is the fourth.

      Thanks alot, I didn't know that. I almost always start at 5:00. I just realized that the video is actually longer, there is more video, if I start earlier, like 2:00 or 1:00. But starting at 0:00 blew my mind because that's 5 more minutes of music that I never knew about.

    In the last movement, a speed record that only Kathia Buniatishvili can keep up with.

      Third movement isn’t a running race and in this music it’s not speed that matters
