We had a group of 11 on our trip...from the group this was their feedback: PROS...Good Location, Great Price, Included Breakfast, Historic, Friendly Staff, Unique Rooms, Apartments Also Offered, Most Rooms & Bathrooms Updated, Daily Maid Service, Nightly Music, Onsite Restaurant & Pub. CONS...No Air Conditioning, Street & Bird Noise at Night (when windows open), Low Water Pressure in Some Rooms.
Wish we were going with you! Lots to see and a lot of fun! We thought the Castle Hotel was great and really enjoyed their breakfast! Have a great time and thanks for watching!
Hey thanks! We wanted to do the review since we could not find one about the Castle when we searched before our trip to Dublin, and Sue & I really enjoyed our stay there! Glad you liked the video and your stays there too! Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment! Cheers!
Nice hotel, I like how they just used all those houses to make one building, very ingenious 😊 The breakfast looked wonderful, not a bad price for an 8 night stay, that's one night at a cheap hotel in Newport RI 🤣🤣 Thanks Steve and Sue, we hope you have a nice weekend 😀
Hey Mark & Michelle! Yes, the price was not bad especially considering the included breakfast. We fuel up at breakfast each day to get us ready for tons of walking and sightseeing! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend too, and a great 4th!
Hey, great to hear that the video was helpful.! I know that when I was researching for videos on the castle hotel I couldn't really find much if anything, which is one of the reasons we did the video! Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback!
We stayed at the Castle Hotel in Oct 2023 -one night my husband and I, then four nights with my cousin, when he left for a few days. (we are all in our early 60s, Canadian, though my cousin lives in Bath now). We ended up having a mixture of the sit-down AND Continental breakfasts every morning, delicious, and to our surprise, we attended the music every night. We thought we'd be too tired from sightseeing, but it was fun! On Friday and Saturday nights, as you say, there is an Irish dancer - we had a young girl who had just won a number of international awards and she was amazing! The staff was accommodating and friendly at all times. Loved being able to walk everywhere. The room was comfortable and fresh water supplied every day was welcome. Though we weren't in the hotel much during the day, it was fun exploring.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your experience! Some in our group thought the hotel was not fancy enough but Sue & I also had a great time staying there like you did. We loved the location and the service, and the fact we could walk everywhere too. Thanks for leaving a comment and thanks for watching!
What a beautifully kept, classic hotel. It oozes quality and comfort. The dining areas looked well set up- and the breakfast complete. The area location is ideal for a visit to ~Dublin. Great share Steve and Sue. Nice to have this as an option should we travel to Ireland. 😎👍🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿
We agree! Sue and I really enjoyed our stay at the Castle Hotel, and we would recommend it if you came to Dublin! Thanks for watching and keep traveling! Cheers!
Booked there for my birthday in September 2024.... I was born in the hospital just up the Rd 70 yrs ago.. Looking forward to the nostalgia of returning home 🏡👍😀
Thats so cool! Make sure you check out Brannigans pub down the street. Around 4-5pm those that work across the street from the pub at the Irelands Revenue Office will come out and throw a Guinness back with you! Fun! Cheers!
Great review! Stayed there last year with my family. For price, friendliness of staff, the rooms, the decor and the breakfast and Guinness It's 5 stars from me!
Air conditioning? Rarely have that here as little need for it. You could ask for a fan maybe. Low water pressure? Old pipes in old area so can be temperamental! Your white and black ‘sausage’ is actually called ‘white pudding’ and ‘black pudding’. By the way, nobody has a breakfast like that every day. More like a Saturday or Sunday treat. Getting around-depending on where you’re headed for, ask at the front desk about using public transport. Much cheaper than taxis.
Agree....some in our group just did not understand how lodging is much different in Dublin compared to say the Ritz-Carlton in the US! I called it charm...they called it awful! Thanks for the correction on the "sausage" and good point about the public transportation. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment! Cheers!
Thanks for posting this vlog I had a summer job there in the 1980's when I was fifteen. The hotel was not renovated then but the staff were friendly and the owner was lovely. She passed away so I hoped that they would continue with it and it looks like they did a good job. My friend (who now lives in Canada) and myself in the UK often reflect on the many stories. One day a customer's girlfriend was feeling unwell. He asked us if we would like his Bob Marley tickets for free we could not believe our luck. Lots of history in this area.
Hello! Glad to give you a look at the state of the hotel today. I can tell you that the staff are still very friendly, and the hotel is in great shape. The owner would be happy with the current state of the place! We had a great stay and if we return to Dublin the Castle Hotel would be our first choice. Thanks for watching and for sharing your history with the hotel! Cheers!
Hi guys wonder why no hotel reviews? Glad you did one ! 1700s and the oldest hotel in Dublin is so historic and it looked so nice with classic rooms. Your apartment was really nice, I would prefer yours to the hotel. Nice that they had live music and a restaurant . The location seems great too . Definitely would try the Irish breakfast . Thanks for the did review 👍~ Anna
Hi Anna! We were wondering that too...not a single youtuber review that we could find! Hopefully ours will help future travelers! We really had a nice time at the Castle especially with the option of the included sit down or continental breakfast! Thanks for watching! Tell Alf we said hello!
Hey Ron! I bought that Murrells Inlet Shirt a few years ago at the Lazy Gator down at the MarshWalk. They have shirts in the back. Look for their sale rack and you may get lucky! www.lazygator.com/ Cheers! Thanks for watching! We are in full swing down here for summer!
Hey HW...Happy Saturday! I think the black and white round patties are what they call Irish pudding. One was made with blood (the black one) and the other animal fat. Both tasted great! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
The Irish breakfast that you see at the end of the video is included with your stay at the Castle hotel. You get it at the restaurant that's in the basement of the hotel. Now if you prefer a continental breakfast that is provided for your free of charge upstairs on the main floor.. We were impressed because we've never been to a hotel that provides two options for breakfast with your stay, all included in the price of your room. Thanks for watching!
Good question! I forgot to mention that! There was only one small elevator (that I saw) that could fit 2-3 people. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question!
@@mimi7914 Yes, especially in the apartments out back where we stayed (they do not have an elevator like they do in the main hotel). But, when you check in one of the front desk staff will help get your luggage to your rooms if you need it.
We stayed at their apartments behind the main hotel and it cost us around 1500 euros for eight nights and that included the breakfast. Thanks for watching. Thanks for asking the question. Cheers!

No air con because it’s not needed 90% of the time with Irish weather. Opening a window does for us.
I’m going to Ireland 🇮🇪 on Monday. This place looks fabulous!
Wish we were going with you! Lots to see and a lot of fun! We thought the Castle Hotel was great and really enjoyed their breakfast! Have a great time and thanks for watching!
Brilliant review of the Castle Hotel. I stayed there many times over the years when visiting Dublin and family!

Nice hotel. Good move booking the apartment. I would have done the same. How about that breakfast. Did it include Irish pudding?

Is the irish breakfast included or is that at the restaurant ?

another great video! Were there elevators in the hotel?
Good question! I forgot to mention that! There was only one small elevator (that I saw) that could fit 2-3 people. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question!
@@TravelwithNJSteveandSue so did you carry your luggage up flights of stairs?
