I just skipped through the video and heard someone ask about hidden gems in Luzon. Oh my goodness, there are TONS. I don't even know where to begin. And there are great beaches here too. But just to name a few must-visit places in Luzon: Baguio (our summer capital because of its cool weather) Banaue Rice Terraces (and also Batad) Tagaytay with its famous Taal Volcano within a lake. Vigan Heritage Village (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan Mayon Volcano in Bicol (Guinness World Record's Most Conical Volcano) Batanas (Scotland or New Zealand of the Philippines) :)
I had a friend in Montana named Wade who was also married to a Filipina like me. But he loved Baguio and planned on retiring there. Up high where the weather was cool. But he never got to enjoy it. He died of stroke at age 58 back in Montana.
@@prairiemark4084 Sad to hear. But regarding Baguio, it's a beautiful place for sure, but tbh, I read that majority of the area is now landslide prone due to over development. It's great to visit, yes, particularly in the dry season when there's no rains (so no threat of landslides). But it's not really advisable to live there anymore. There are however lots of other places in that region (Cordillera) that are less developed. And not just in that region but even in Tanay (east of Metro Manila), they have cool temperatures too as it's also up in the mountains. They even have a 'sea of clouds' attraction. And it's only about 3 hrs. drive from Metro Manila. It's actually one of my favorite places. :)
@@moondustgirl2132 Thanks for the tips. We have a vacation home 38 miles (2-3 hr drive) from Cebu City. It is nice there and my wifes family has been there since at least the 1400s. We spend 5-6 weeks a year there and once we spent 11 months.
Sorry I missed the live version. Good luck, following your life path. BTW I git my SRRV completed. Got my card now. Appreciate your advice for this process.
Congratulations on your RUclips retirement. Hopefully, the Philippines RUclipsrs will give you a retirement party all thumbs up on your last show. I watch only 5 RUclipsrs from the Philippines, and you are one of them. I live in Thailand and only watch 3 RUclipsrs. Steve, I have enjoyed your content. Some day, I might make the jump to the Philippines someday.
Life is full of changes. I am glad you are following your life plan and your heart rather than being stuck in a rut. You have built a very successful and helpful channel. I wish you the best as you move forward in life. Nanie and I are happy living next to her son and family here in Iowa. Two very good and active Filipina groups here in Cedar Falls. About 70 in our group including a number of nurses and two practicing medical doctors. My health is very good now, thank God. I have a very good cardiologist/surgeon and have had two successful surgeries to control irregular heatbeats. (albation therapy). My blood vessels and pump are intact so I may get an unexpected and very welcome extension on my life. . Nanie wants to work 3-5 more years and she gets 4-5 weeks off where we will be in the Philippines during that time. After that we hope to live 3 month a year in Philippines and 9 month in the USA. Anyway. Thanks for all you have done for me and others. God bless you on the rest of your journey.
The Berjaya Hotel in Makati is very nice and within walking distance or a short grab ride away. It is also very reasonably priced and you can find it on AGODA. Hope this helps.
With all the savings in accommodation, I think one can treat themselves to ‘western’ foods like sold at SR or Landers and still be under the costs of NorthAmerica.
Question about SRR VISA, Can I use the 10000 Dollars which are on the Philippine bank, to buy a condo or Apartment ,without loosing my SRR VISA, and does it belong to me,its my own.?
I copied this response from another website when this question came up - If you use your deposit on a long term lease or condo purchase the PRA requires that either will be encumbered (like a bank mortgage) so if you sell the lease or condo the PRA are the first to get your deposit money back. This involves attorneys and more cost. The way out is to cancel your SRRV, more time and going back on a tourist visa.
Buying a condo is smart if, as a retiree, it’s the last home you plan to own/live in. Who cares how easy it is to sell then, you’ll be dead and gone. Back up power, back up water, security, an elevator ride away from a pool/exercise room, pharmacy, cafe, supermarket… if you choose well, a condo is a great retirement plan.

Dont buy a condo, they’re very hard to sell, rentang p.m is better.
