Yall wanna sleep on tc but remember southerners die hard how long has southern had the crown and now a 3yr band program has jumped off the porch and now have every one barking about what a good battle this would be!!!man give these kids there props ok I said kids cause that's what they are give them THEY props..Yall been years and years of holding that crown but THEY just started and handing yall asses on a silver platter smh ... that's like parents getting there ass whipped by there kids.. what's southern words alwsys imitated never duplicated..well let's just say find another phrase cause it just happened congrats tc u stirred up something now!!!can't wait to see these to go at it again!!!
Absolutely Claudie!!!! Folks have to respect this band for the simple fact that it took most other schools years to develop quality sound and interest in the band, and this school has raised heads from DAY 1!!!

Are you sure that's intonation??? You do know some chords naturally cause dissonant sound to the ear. To me, it sounds like a widely used orchestration technique called contrast and release. You hear it a lot it most music after the Classical Period, especially Beethoven... I would teach more but I'll leave that to your music program. Mine taught us well....

Thanks SirGeekz but 4playbhaven Once again, no disrespect to southern... at all... Hell, I'm even a southern dick rider at Times. I'll admit that. But you just gotta know when you're simple outplayed. Talladega was cleaner... period. They we're louder... period. I mean hey... it's MARCHING band... so playing loud is cool... but overblowing to the point where the music suffers is a huge problem and that's where SU went wrong. SU has some very powerful and beautiful arrangements, they always have. But they we're threatened by TC and they lost control. This is my opinion. Not fact.

The one thing that Southern does different than TC that you all need to realize, Go threw a very Hectic Audition for their band! You Must know all 12 scales in 2 octaves 3 if necessary, have a Audition Piece and Play a Sight reading piece from the Band Directors Choosing, which is a Piece on a Colliegate Level of reading! Please state TC's audition requirements!? Then theirs a Crab week just to see who can survive and thats where most freshman get zipped! TC auditions in the Fall after SU gets rid of the ones that cant hang & they audition in the spring! Everyone who gets zipped out of SU band goes their trust me this is a fact! (Friends who are in TC that where in SUs band)! So for you all to say SU needs to step their Recruiting game up and get their numbers big like TC! SMH at you! You probly cant make this process that these young musicians in SU's band go threw! So until TC steps their game up and meet the status of SU please do not compare them at all!!

The strides TC has made in a few yrs,is, very impressive but whn you're allowed to,give full scholarships out all willy nilly its,not,necessarily suprising either

I would rather see this battle every year then the JSU battle...Coming from a Famu Marching 100 alumni "Its clear", TC has a good sound and it was a good battle song for song but again "Its clear" Southern has been doing this for years and has master it. "its the IT" that TC wont have until they have been in the game for a while

When I heard the first note of I Need A Doctor from Southern, I already knew who won this battle. I give props to Talladega from sticking with Southern through the frist two parts, but I Need A Doctor was a difinite turning point.

TC is a lot more clean and lot more loud. The key to playing loud is being in fine. Many people don't know that. SU had a better music choice but imagine if TC played their music at them, SU wouldn't have any competition.

Talladega band director played in southern band and half of Talladega band come from being cut from southern band or not making the cut , so how you think Talladega got their sound because they are NOT original ! And before they try and go at southern neck they first need to stop playing all radio music and come with more scales and be more technical because just being loud is played out ! .
All because you don't make a band doesn't mean your not good. These people bring their own personality and sound. If I tried out for JSU and didn't make it and I tried out and made it into SU band, would that change how I play or who I am? I still as good of a drummer I am before I even tried out for either band. For example, there are 500+ people who try out for the OSU Marching Band, only so many can make it and if the people who didn't make it made marching band, would change who they are? The sound comes from what they make it.
