Osteoarthritis - What IS Going On In That Joint?

Osteoarthritis (OA) has long been thought to be a joint surface problem and not much more. The recent evidence shows that is far from the case. Many factors are involved in the development of osteoarthritis and the pain of OA too.
I refer to an article by Adam Culvenor that was published in The British Journal of Sports Medicine titled 'Prevalence of knee osteoarthritis features on magnetic resonance imaging in asymptomatic uninjured adults: a systematic review and meta- analysis'.
The reference is Culvenor AG, Øiestad BE, Hart HF, et al. Br J Sports Med 2019;53:1268-1278 and it can be accessed free online.
