    IMPORTANT UPDATE: With the course being released for a day or two, I've spoken to a few Twitch Partners with decent size streams who took the course, and also a few beginners who have taken it as well. The consensus seems to be, "The advice is fairly generic, and you can find it for free on a lot of other channels but the feedback section is very active" apparently Assistants encourage students to watch each others content and give feedback as we expected from the course write up, and it has encouraged students to watch their own VoDs back which a lot weren't doing.
    I stand by a lot of the video, I doubt it is worth the price tag, and at the end of the day I just want small streamers to make smart choices, if this helps you then brilliant, but I strongly encourage you to learn Self-Critique methods and spend time researching free content first. If the majority of the value of this course comes from the Feedback section, then I am concerned that this first wave will do well for attendance, and then every subsequent intake will be much lower attendance and therefore less "value".
    I will say, a few people have said I was "too harsh" or "Should let Creators earn money" so I will answer that, I appreciate and accept I might be too harsh in this video, I have spent the last 2 years working with Small Streamers actively in the Stream Scheme Discord, I feel proud to say that I am incredibly active in helping beginners and answering questions directly over there. The amount of "coaching" and "courses" I've seen take money from creators, and give generic or even dangerously bad advice has frustrated me. As an Educator, I feel we need to hold ourselves to an incredibly high standard, so seeing the structure and advice in the trailer for this course I was incredibly disheartened knowing it would sell to MANY beginners. I apologize if I was too harsh, as I said this was unscripted, and different to my usual content, I will work to be more constructive if I do content like this in the future.
    As for the feedback, "Should let Creators earn money" he is a Multi-Millionaire, and the people spending money on this course are likely NOT that well off, and certainly aren't Multi-Millionaires. As I say to all streamers and creators who build an audience, your audience likely earns less than you, be aware of that and be cautious.

      Imagine spending years and years growing your Brand just to throw it away for a small amount of cash.
      Ninja will eventually lose everything and no one will bother watching him Live Stream or buy his products.

      You do know some of these recommendations have paid courses as well right? Nothing wrong with paid courses. Lot less distractions than when on youtube. Courses cant guarantee views and subs but skills which will help people succeed. Shame ninja gave such terrible advice but no reason to knock paid courses.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  2 года назад +1

      @@SolarBang Nutty doesn't have paid courses, but I know Epos has sub tiers where he helps directly in discord (afaik)
      The difference is the amount of free content they also produce for people, in this industry sadly most of the paid courses are the same advice already out there being slapped behind a paywall.
      Depending on the information and how it is setup I know that paid courses can be effective learning, but I am yet to find one in this format that provides something that free content can't.
      We spent a long time here at SSN researching paid courses and coaches in our space after a few oppourtunities were sent our way, and we learned quickly the space is flooded with courses and coaches that should not be charging. It was disheartening to see.
      I should've been more clear on my opinion of paid courses, but as I mention in this video it is a new format, with no script, trying to experiment more. Hope that makes sense! Sorry if I was too harsh, very passionate about education and this space.

      @@StreamScheme theres def a lot of garbage out there and Shane on any marketers pushing guaranteed results or viewer numbers. Its def hard to find legit courses. When you do though it's a breath of fresh air to not have random recommended videos distracting you and pushes for likes and subscribes and watch my other videos, just gets right to the point and teaches you skills, fundamentals, and a firm understanding of terminology and practice. Anyway man font take it so personal. Wasnt trying to rip you a new one. I'm a creator as well. I know the struggle. I wouldnt put you through that. I just wanted to point out eps and others have expanded content behind paywalls. In fact many creators do similar things on membership sites, patreon, subscribestar, etc.

    As someone who took the course, it was nice because it actually prompted me to stream due to the "classroom" setting and because of the "homework" we were assigned (which is streaming). However it was a little disappointing that the advice given was very generic and it was stuff that I (and a lot of other course takers) had already knew and learned from free advice given by you and a bunch of other youtubers. Others had fantastic audio quality or webcam quality, some people had their webcam too small so we couldn't really see reactions. etc.. You've mentioned the feedback, but technically you can get all of that for free as well from taking time to look back at your own VoDs, etc.

    Boy, are they in for a rude awakening... I'm absolutely tiny at streaming but even I can see how much of a scam this is. I feel sorry for those who paid any money for this sort of thing. Hopefully they can get refunds!

    A couple of things strikes me about this course: (1) some of the videos are *really * short; (2) the whole thing, as you say, looks like something that was quickly knocked together by a marketing team that knows nothing at all about streaming except maybe a few basic concepts. (I used to work in marketing, I’ve seen a lot of this sort of thing.)
    His manager or someone like that probably did a deal with some marketing agency, they dangled a contract with a large number in front of him, he did maybe one meeting with them and then he sat in front of the camera and read their work. That doesn’t make him an idiot, that makes him a man who doesn’t look very far beyond the dollar signs lighting up his eyes.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  2 года назад

      To be fair, if your entire brand and career rests on your audience trusting your word, and being willing to buy or click the sponsored links, then promoting dodgy or even slightly bad deals because you can't look very far beyond the dollar signs lighting up his eyes.... does sort've make you look foolish.
      Granted this isn't terrible, but it isn't a good look with the social media fallout, and a premium course service like Masterclass won't like that attention because it reflects badly on their other courses.

    My first thought just hearing about Ninja making a master class made me think, how dated is his information? I mean it's been like a decade since he started streaming. The current standards for growing as a streamer today vs 10 years ago is vastly different mainly because of how saturated the streaming space is anymore.

    A sad truth about why this will sell is that these young streamers and content creators are looking for a quick fix to grow as quickly as possible and the reality is that growth takes a while. The ones who blow up overnight are either extremely lucky, or it was a fluke and they can't maintain it.

    I think I get what he's saying about supporting other people's streams. We have a lot of small streamers in my community and we all watch each other's streams and we have built really good friendships by doing that. Obviously there are the ones there that are more on the "take" side than "give" and don't plan on building friendships so those people filter in and out. We dont run a 4F4 we build relationships and friendshis and I think that is what Ninja is mostly saying. maybe... lol. Thank you for the video! This video was hard to watch. Eljay, I love your content. I do. I watch your streams, I watch your tutorials, I read your guides, and I enjoy them all. Your advice has helped (and continues to help) me a lot as a small streamer and I'm so very thankful. But I can't help but feel that this call out video is a bit malicious. We know the information in this 'Ninja Course' is... poor at best. But to sit there and laugh, call him a liar or a scumbag or whatever just feels wrong. I appreciate the comparative elements (eg, He said do x, but don't do that, do y instead, this is because z) but the laughing made me feel really awkward and I think you're better than this.
    Just my two cents, I guess. Thank you for the video, regardless

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  2 года назад

      I appreciate that, Angelwolf, but this is a multi-millionaire with an audience of primarily children, young teens, and young adults who look up to him and want to be like him.
      He’s released a course preying on that idolisation, desperation, and promises results.
      I give him credit for what he has done successfully, and I wouldn’t criticise him if this course was focused on things I didn’t understand, or had real thought put into it.
      I’ll take responsibility and say that I found this funny while making it, and if I didn’t want you to feel this way than I should’ve done acted differently or reshot certain takes but it wasn’t scripted, and I was just being myself.
      If Ninja, a multi-millionaire, didn’t want people to see him as someone who is trying to make more money off an impressionable and desperate audience then he should’ve acted differently as well.
