This is an incredible lecture! I won't pretend that I understood everything but it really brought together my understanding of Hegel's dialectic and I think I'm ready to go back to his work and try again. Keep up this beautiful work, you are a true genius at this!
Wow! thank you. This one is my favorite so far. Many of today's mental health treatment modalities also allow the subject to relate to themselves and so to others differently. Beings for themselves can actually relate to others without projecting their need of approval onto others, as if to see the Imago in others that might mirror back their ideal Ego and so on..
I’m loving your lecture. Tone-wise you unfortunately seem out of your natural habitat however. I hope you can return home to the source of the ooey-gooey confidence that we love you so much for. But I still love watching this video in particular and learned a lot. This is 100% projection oh my god ya got me again
Concerning Jameson's recent passing, and the influence he had on you which you've mentioned in videos past; will you consider doing a video regarding his work, if not incorporating his thought regarding psychonalsysis and contemporary culture? All the best.
Big fan of the lectures so far! I used to work at the IAI and am still living in London. Are you presenting at or participating in any other events while you're in town?
Could you please make a lecture about why the term pervers is used as a counterpart to hysteric. I feel it is understandable from the normal (everyday) usage of hysteric, why it is related to uncertainty of the subject about itself, but I don't get the connection between the common understanding of pervers(ion) and supposedly knowing how to live. Hope this makes sense and great lecture😄
I understood absolutely everything, very clear. repeat words in different order and thats mystically makes an argument, coz everyone who listen this for 30 minutes will sure agree with everything, just to stop this.😮😅😢😂🎉
My man,for a looong time haven't been listening to you! Both of mine favorite thinkers, Cornel West & Slovenian Pervert( I'm Croatian,so we're de facto neighbors) are having bad reputations among so called left.Up to a point that Cornel, trying to be a polititian is losing credibility, by letting republicans to put him on ballot.....omg wanna cry...and Zizek has being attacked & labeled as NATO shill all over the left & I'm sure that my third favorite living thinker,Janis Varufakis is also pissed at him.But Janis also knows that labeling Zizek as shill is lazy & dishonest( he,Janis wore a "I Prefer Not To" T shirt when I watched his interview couple weeks ago, just Idk if that was something subliminal towards Slavoj😂😂😂).Since few yrs when I saw your podcast for first time,I wrote to you that I was amazed with your eloquent gift to break down someone like Zizek that even ppl without higher education could unerstand what you're talkin'.If that's the case,I think you're doing god's work! Shout Out from Adriatic Coast, summer's over & I'm a pessimimst for winter, just hoping not to be a nuclear,🙌💯
What is the purpose of philosophy? As science is needed to overcome the nature, what is the purpose of philosophy? Philosophy is to criticize ideology. There is not right way to life, but there are many wrong ways to life. We could not get rid of hysterical feelings in life, that is how subject/life evolves. Psychoanalysis keeps us in sane with mental life, and philosophy keeps us in sane with rational life.
Are you saying that the gap between the real and the ideal is what the ideal is? I just can't wrap my head around that, like is the 'ideal' a self-referential failing of itself? How then do I look at the ideal of, lets say, kindness? That trying to be kind but kind of failing at it, is itself the ideal of kindness?
One of these days I will catch these live from start to finish. Bell on

I’ve literally watched this like 5 times I swear I’ll get it someday
Had to rewind this a few times to understand-think I got there in the end, thank you, Julian!
Thank you so much, big fan
I am so hyped on this Penrose Sabine Zizek. It won't be ground breaking but the fact they met is enough.

Do you offer alternative support systems not patreon?

Ok that's old the ontological of the ready-at-hand reflected to the present-at-hand. Is this a joke.
Why do you think this kind of phisolophy should be saved?
Of all the jabberers who ever jibbered, are you the most jibbery?
