IMPULSIVE THOUGHTS (aka "jump in that puddle with your nice shoes on" "stick your face in that cake" etc) are different from INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS (aka "see that kid over there? touch them inappropriately" "hey try cutting your fingers the same way youre chopping those carrots" etc). i'm one billion percent convinced people who say shit like "oh just act on your intrusive thoughts, you have them for a reason" have never actually had an intrusive thought in their life. its not some cute quirky impulsive shit, it's stuff that makes you physically recoil when you think abt it. i get really bad intrusive thoughts (part of my add/autism) and its made me suicidal in the past cuz of the heinous fucking disgusting things my brain throws at me. god damn !!

Which then means people like us who genuinely struggle with real intrusive thoughts get told that we’re horrible because of uncontrollable thoughts that mean literally nothing
To be clear, you are wrong, they are impulsive thoughts as well, it's generally the same thing. You may need some therapy, especially if you are talking about touching a kid inappropriately and blatantly broadcasting it. I understand your point, but the definition isn't what you are hounding on, it's literally something that ranges from a thought that makes you feel a little bit uneasy to being wholly disturbing (simple search will confirm this). So yeah, your pedophilia thoughts to someone's wanting to jump in a puddle with nice shoes on are both accurate, one just warrants more mental health... so please seek it if you feel this bad or have thoughts about touching kids.
@@tinntinnamp i'm not proclaiming the difference between impulsive and intrusive thoughts because i came up with the difference myself, i'm saying it because i've done my research, i'm friends with people who have been diagnosed, and i've been peer-diagnosed*. one quick google search of "impulsive vs intrusive thoughts" will tell you all you need to know, and actually doing research and reading about it will tell you more. when my brain goes "use this knife to stab your family" it makes me recoil, it makes me feel ill, it makes me upset, etc. these are all textbook symptoms of *intrusive thoughts,* aka thoughts/ideas that *intrude* on your mind and that you cause distress. when i think "smash my face into that cake" i shrug it off, i laugh at the idea, i have no physical cringe reaction. these are textbook symptoms of *impulsive thoughts,* aka thoughts that are impulsive and generally center around quick urges. if you don't have a mental illness that causes intrusive thoughts you will never understand how harrowing they are to have- when my brain gives me a graphic description of what it would be like to stab my mother despite the fact i love and cherish her, it makes me upset (and that's underselling it quite a bit).
your comment about my intrusive thoughts needing therapy is only half-correct, but i do appreciate the sentiment. i don't think about touching kids, and i dont want to think about touching kids- my brain randomly jumpscares me with (bad, awful, no-good) thoughts about touching kids sometimes. it is not a desire i have at all, the same way i don't desire to stab my whole family every time i pick up a knife (despite my intrusive thoughts that say otherwise). therapy can help me manage these thoughts, yes, but because i don't have any urge to act on them anyways the benefit would be minimal (imo). the best i can do is recognize "hey, these thoughts don't reflect who i am as a person, chill out, it'll be okay"
plus, the examples of intrusive thoughts i gave weren't specific ones i've had, just general ones that would get my point across. i don't generally get pedophillic ones, and when i do, it ruins my whole day because who wants to think about that kinda shit? it mega-sucks, that's why it's intrusive

@@tinntinnamp Not that it should matter in the least but let me lay a little knowledge on you. I'm not commenting on the reality of the clip, although nothing about it hints at it not being real. As the only person in my family that doesn't or hasn't worked in the medical field for years I've heard allot of stories from Mom, 2 Sisters, brother, a couple of cousins, etc. If by some chance this clip was fake there have in fact been asshole, arrogant Drs. that act and say things just like or very similar to what was said in the clip. The point of the entire video was to get people involved and comment on their favorite or least favorite clip. To see if or how many would do so and instead of commenting on something you may have seen and felt some type of way about you felt far more compelled to reply a needless comment to me, questioning my ability to tell the difference between what's reality and not. So I reply, does it really matter because my opinion on the clip and the Dr in it stays the same.

Drawing attention by slamming your door will make it more likely for people to notice your door is locked.. like when they try to come in to tell you to be considert and not damage the house- knobs turn for a reason! It would be quieter to softly close the door and lock it at the same time. Also, why do you care if people know your door is locked? If anyone is against it, they'll find out when they come to your room, otherwise, they won't find out at all (hence no need for locking) .
No, I don't slam it or anything though! I just have two of my fingers on the lock, gently push the door shut, and then lock it while I do so! It's not super loud or anything. The reason I don't want people to hear me locking my door is so that my parents don't think I'm just being rude or something and get mad at me, plus, I don't want them to be able to just open my door. I'm doing things in here and I don't wanna be bothered, y'know?

@@promitheas32 the nose rings on bulls are to help control their heads and horns, it's a way to lead them and a way to make sure they don't hurt anyone if they freak out- they're also used to ween cattle when they suckle too long and may be causing damage/are too old and need to be moved to another place (I'm a farmer that raises and sells cattle lol)
