I respect the decisions of people who choose not to use hair loss treatments. You have to choose the option that's right for you. But wanting to keep your hair doesn't make you vain. It's especially devastating if it happens when you're young.
I was wondering whether you've tried other hair loss treatments. There's topical finasteride and topical minoxidil. I'd like to mention that for some people, the standard dose of 1mg of oral finasteride per day is a higher dose than necessary. It's marginally more effective than 0.5mg, and reducing your dose will reduce the risk of side effects. Some people use 0.25mg every other day, and that drastically reduces side effects while allowing them to keep their hair. It's true that finasteride and dutasteride (which is what I use, and it's more powerful than finasteride) can cause changes in libido. I haven't had any adverse side effects, but I don't doubt that some people do. I heard someone say he had an increased libido from using dutasteride, so the sexual side effects might not occur at all, or they might not be the side effects they expected.
Hi guys,
Just my experiences, hopefully you didn’t experience the same!

@@dualscreengrant agreed. Was more reflecting on my own personal experiences which was vanity driven

well I guess this begs the question- how have you kept your hair if you ceased finasteride use?
I see what you mean having been taking it for a year, I need to save my hair though any cost.
That’s the trade off
1mg is way too much
