Me too, I've seen Ronnie numerous times with DIO & Sabbath, even got backstage during the Sacred Heart Tour. It was in The C.N.E. Bandstand (Toronto for people who do not know), met all of the band except for Ronnie, That was as close to RJD that I got, standing outside his bus while he slept within. Now the Bandstand is gone and so is Ronnie, except he will live on forever in his music! RJD, love you, miss you, you are, were and always will be King among men.
Dio was always that special treat amongst a bag of goodies, that Halloween candy that just made you scratch down through the others in hopes you would find just. one. more.

I just did a review on this Album, Not uploaded yet But it was hard to review because he did it Perfectly. The Tone & Vocal lines were spot on & it's an Awesome Album. just surprised there as many people like it as much as i DO. DIO Fan since 1984
I think in a lesser degree you could put ac/dc in there for back in black. Though highway to hell album was way better the never say die. Both also 1980 releases.

That was a lot better and more enjoyable than I anticipated. It catches a lot of the nuances of the original. I am 16 again! (Yes, I am almost exactly Paul's age)

After all this time, we all obviously know what you can do on the instrument, but this shows a different side to your abilities: channeling and recreating the emotion of Ronnie's voice and Tony's playing without any throwback look-at-me "shred ego". Not that there's anything wrong with that - I still love the 80s shred style - but what you did here is unique...and even beautiful. † RJD †
This is 100% mind-blowing. A brilliant version of a magnificent Metal hym from Black Sabbath with the ALMIGHTY Ronnie James Dio. Congratulations to Paul Gilbert for such a gem !
Outstanding tribute, right down to the acoustic outro! 🙏 I remember hearing this on the radio when it first came out, then later on hearing Neon Knights, loved it from the start. I was blown away, I had to go out & buy the album. Ronnie's voice was so powerful, how could you not love & respect him.
Killer job, I read recent article on how difficult this song was for Paul , Sabbath like many bands of that era had jazz influences , it's brilliant how they incorporated that into the songs, look forward to hearing the entire record, definitely on my list to own,

To have a new version of these classics is something necessary for me in my life. I will be working around the house, I will play it in the office, the gym, jogging, camping or driving around.
