I actually started RUclips because I want to provide to people that kind of informative and entertaining video that is not common to the platform anymore.

    If you don't have kelp, just make sure all the water blocks in the elevator are source blocks. It takes a bit longer, but sometimes your world won't have a nearby ocean biome.

    • @khajiitimanus7432
      @khajiitimanus7432 Год назад +8

      Yep, just alternate water buckets from the bottom to the top.
      Easier to start from the bottom with the soul sand elevator, since one will be able to see where water source blocks aren't and will additionally be automatically moved upwards as needed. :p

    A small tip :if you don’t have soul sand yet, you can still use the colunm of water to ascend quickly by pressing space and run toward the surface at he same time. You will go up at the same speed.The only difference is that you have to pay attention to not suffocate, because your oxygen is not restored by the bubles.

      Nice, and welcome to Minecraft. I've played for years and I'm in a hard mode survival, and this is the first time I've ever really stopped to make an elevator versus using scaffolding (which is easy and cheap to make). If you have not done much with villagers, now's the time. If you've not marked off in a journal where local villages are, you can make a copy of your world and go into creative mode and use commands to locate the nearest village, then get a couple villagers and transport them back near your base, but at least 65 blocks away from where you plan on doing anything. You can move them with rails if you are able or get a boat and harness and pull them along. If you need to go up a hill, you can put down flowing water and pull them up. I have a backup base (my world crashed, but luckily my base survived, but it was laggy for a bit, then recovered). I have a villager and put down a lectern to create a librarian villager, then broke it and put it down again and again (about 75 times) and finally the librarian had a book of mending enchantment. Well, then I needed a ton of emeralds to get the number of books I wanted, and I have an early game style iron farm. not fast, but it has 20 villagers that had fletching stations, which means I could trade 32 sticks and get 1 emerald. Well, 2 bamboos make 1 stick, and I have an automatic bamboo farm that creates a ton of bamboo, so I just make craptons of sticks and trade with the 20 fletchers and now I have stacks of emerald blocks. With this surplus, I started paying attention to what the wandering trader had for sale. Some have cherry blossom saplings; I think for 5 emeralds. It's worth buying one and getting more saplings to plant. Now I have mending on every piece of diamond armor, weapon, and tools, including a piece of gold armor so piglings in the Nether won't attack you on site.

    In early game. It takes a bit of manual labor but I like to dig a 2x1 column straight down, take my single bucket of water and place it as high as I can. Swim up to the top of the water and quickly recollect and place the water source even higher, until I get back to the top. Then I make a sign for every 10 levels I dug down, and slowly sink back down the column placing a sign every 10 blocks on one side. then I can use that side of signs to give myself some air as I ascend or descend. This method works really well for setting up a level-based branch mine because you don't have to worry about soul sand, magma blocks, kelp, or shooting past the level you want to get off at.

    What I do is digging straight down from middle of 2 blocks width so I won't fall if I dig below me.
    In between I keep some extra holes in wall, about 3 blocks of height.
    When I find a cave or bedrock then I dig straight up to the surface and I drop water in the hole I created. That's how you can create an elevator straight to deep caves.

    Nice - This is the up elevator I use, but I didn't think to do the kelp trick instead of bucket after bucket of water. But way better than magma is just one or two water blocks at the bottom to catch your fall, and then gates to block the water but still walk out (like the signs). Free falling is very much quicker than magma.

    I wish you had addressed the damage taken from the magma block when descending using it and how the magma block could be used for this purpose without taking the damage at the end. I know the damage isn't significant but this could affect how transporting mobs works for one example. I also realize one could just drop into a 1x1 pool of water but I hoped I could use the magma block for descending without taking damage. Is there any block that lets the bubbles through but not the player?

    Definitely handy reference to have. Now I just gotta get ahold of some kelp in this fairly awful single-biome world I've been playing in. Turns out oceans are fairly barren if you make the surface a dripstone cavern biome, though wandering traders should still be an option. Technically tinkering with the datapack mod I have for personal use to have it be a fishing result like lily pads are is also an option, but we'll see if I have to resort to that.
    Of course, placing enough water source blocks to get me from -59 to +109 is TECHNICALLY also an option if I'm feeling vindictive towards my own sanity...
