This is one of my favorite books! Within the boundary of its pages, Paine makes clear the cause and necessity for American Independence. He does so sublimely, with reason, common sense and eloquent language. If it can be said that Washington won the battle for independence with the sword, it can also be said that Thomas Paine won it with the pen. The ideas here are timeless, universal and well encapsulate the yearning of all mankind.
