How to start a raffia coil using crochet

Apologies for the poor lighting, I had a spare 5 minutes to make this video before it got dark! If you wanted to know how I get my raffia vessels started, this is my approach which uses a crochet hook and the most simple stitch. This is how to get your coil started.
