    +Wideanglestv, Brilliant vlog.
    I've often seen Elvis, the Sunseeker Predator going through GREAT Yarmouth with NYA following.
    I used to helm RAF target launches from Yarmouth(89-90). Would love my sea going boat.

    All very fine but has the organizers ever been to Hayling island in Hampshire.
    This place has a tide run that really sorts the men from the boys, but is a place i think everyone in a boat should learn about.
    The waves come into the entry are not only high but they are running in lot of cases faster than most boats can go, so if your not very careful they can fill the boat from the rear in seconds.
    If you have plenty of power then o.k. just open the trottle and run in sitting on top of one wave but stay in a straight line unless you want to get rolled.
    Its not a place for the faint hearted and best done in between tides.
    The reason i mention this is because having spent a good part of my life on the water, i have seen so many people run into real trouble after having done a couple of trips like the one in the video, and then try there knew found skills out on the sea which is a total different bag of fish from
    lovely places like the Norfolk broards.
    The sea is not at all forgiving and is no judge of your ability, so would warn all those who think about it to think twice and build up to it.
    I use to make the trip over the channel on a regular basis, and have seen just how brutle it can be, this was sailing not under power, and with all hatches shut to avoid water goingnwhere i did not want want it, like the engine, because they dont like water very much, nor does wiring.
    So i would say that the concept of the video is good but really needs to show people that done the right way, and a well looked after boat you can indeed go places, but the sea demands respect from all who travel on it so a few lessons in not so kind waters is a big a must as the trip undertaken in the video.

      John Laccohee-Joslin What are you trying to do, frighten the life out of people from going to sea? This was a gentle safe, well organised little cruise in company for the novice boaters, why on earth would you want you talk about ‘sorting the men out from the boys’ telling tales of treacherous harbour entrances, we have them on the east coast too, however once you gradually gain the experience and knowledge necessary, even the toughest passages can be achieved......Bon voyage!

      Yeah john, why don't you come up to the bristol channel, sort the men out from the boys with 14metre tides.

    Love This Video I Do Have A Question? Do You Have To Have A Boat To Be A Member Of The NYA

    • @PD-jj4fo
      @PD-jj4fo 3 года назад

      I wondered that. Or do the NYA hire them out? Afterall, if you’re a beginner in Scotland, would you have to transport your boat by road to Norfolk?
