Stayed at Roy's camp too. The elephants were there as well. I was sorry to see you didn't make Liuwa and that none of the Mongu land rover drivers appeared! I now know where all the old ones go. My experiences were different, crossing at Ngoma/ Caprivi we made it into Liuwa in one day, but I believe the bridges are finished now so it should be much easier. My first overlanding vehicle was a Hyundai H110 (great for giving lifts to locals) and a tarp - went all over Zambia in it - happy days.
Hi Andrew, because I am falling in love with Africa and 4x4 your videos are like best cure for me. This year, me - man from north of Poland, sailor, retired climber have been invited for Polish - South African weding close to Pretoria. Place called Zakopane ( Zakopane we have also in polish Tatra Mountains) and few days driving around Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga, mountains around Sabie (Visierkerf pass 2150m was a real advantage for Toyota Avanza with seven person on board) made me crazy about Africa. Your videos increase this feeling. Looking forward for next part of your trip. Best regards. Tomek Drozd p.s. sorry for my english, never learned at school ;-)
Hi, really enjoying your travel and 4x4 productions this last week as I’m down with a dose. I’ve gotten a few trips in but need more of Botswana as I only got a taste near Gabz. Oh one thing, up here in Ireland the sun doesn’t set and rise from the same spot 😄 I had to look twice to be sure! Safe travels.
Enjoying the series, just a correction about the land cover and deforestation. Deforestation is a huge issue in Zambia but the relative absence of forest cover in western Zambia is linked to the soils and water table rather than just human intervention. The Luiwa Plains being a case in point - the Kalahari Sands region has a different ecosystem to the typical Miombo ecosystem of the Kafue.
It would make me a little nervous camping in the wild next to hippos, crocodiles, and elephants ... and the other big animals out there! It would be very cool seeing them though!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos, but I find each episode in this recent series to be a bit to short. By the end I find myself insufficiently satisfied. Perhaps you could edit each one to be 15-20min long?
+Celticking1987. I think the idea is these are teasers, hoping you will subscribe to his website 4xoverland.com/ and pay a subscription to fund him to go out in the wild and produce more content. Or you can contribute via www.patreon.com/Andrew_StPierre_White?ty=h (He explaines it in 2 min via that link) :)
Ahh... yes, the word Lodge in Zambia, conjures up images that can, shall we say, differ from the reality. When I lived up there, I kept a Go Box which consisted of, but was not limited to; 1. Toilet paper; 2. A toilet seat; 3. Plugs for basins/baths; 4. Brew kit including ingredients and a kettle, sufficient for a number of days; .............. :-)
