I found this video at the right time. I am doing B1 but I had such a hard time finding a tutor. I have a good strength over grammar as I did A1 A2 twice, but I feel completely lost I don’t know how to pass B1. My tutor is also not being much helpful. I lack in speaking the most. I’m gonna start with Edito books now. Thanks for the guidance❤

Thanks for the structured approach. A lot of times we just try a lot of things and go with the ones that stick, but it takes a lot of trial and error. Also, a lot of time. This is a good linear approach for those who want to be more efficient and organized with their learning. Thanks again 🙂

One be a bilingual to immigrate to Canada:
Due to high competition in the Canadian immigration, the CRS cut off score is increasing continuously. Currently the score is at 469 as of 18 December 2020 and it is expected to go beyond 480 by 2021.
The ways to Boost Your CRS:
PNP (But the chances of getting a nomination is 1:100).
Getting a job in Canada (Next to Impossible without a PR)
Canadian degree (The most expensive method)
Learning French through TEF COMPASS (100% possible & 100% under control)
The only way to beat the competition is by becoming bilingual. Learning French along with English gives the edge in getting the Canadian PR.
You could increase your CRS upto 74 points through French as your second language. You could consider learning French and giving the TEF Canada Exam. There is an easy way to crack the TEF Canada Exam through a program called TEF Compass.

      Alhamdulillah… Alhamdullilah…. 🙏
I passed my TCF/TEF in FIRST attempt and I believe that after the will of Allah, it was the hard work and the best teaching skills put in by my mentor Dr Hamed, Common stations academy. 💙
      I struggled to clear TCF/TEF
Having failed TCF/TEF twice, I always felt maybe I am not worth it or maybe I am not as intelligent as others.
Moreover, being a mother of a 2-year-old child, I was very much afraid and considered TCF/TEF as an almost impossible task.
I cannot believe it, but I made it and I am proud of myself! #SayMashaAllah ☺😊😆🙈
I am very much thankful to the wonderful members of this TCF/TEF group from the bottom of my heart. 🙏
You have been through this journey with me when I needed help the most.
When I failed TCF/TEF for a second time, I was feeling so depressed and hopeless and wanted to give up. But it was your support and encouraging comments and private messages that kept me going, without them I did not have the courage to continue. I am forever grateful!
Choosing a TCF/TEF academy was a difficult decision for me.
I was so desperate that I even created a poll on this group asking for your opinion.
Of course, I went for what you recommended but only after attending common stations academy, I can say that I made the right decision following your advice. Thank you all!
Dr Hamed takes his work very serious and his dedication is praiseworthy.
He does not leave you at the mercy of temps and makes sure that he takes the entire course himself.
TCF/TEF is a tricky exam, it is changing on a regular basis and trust me you cannot memorise scripts and pass this exam anymore.
But the way Dr Hamed teaches the approach and principles of scenarios, with consistent practice, things become as simple as ABC for you.
He will prepare you in a way that you can tackle any scenario and can just relate everything which he discussed in class in the examination hall.
His notes are comprehensive, updated and very well organized.
I could not leave my child for 2 consecutive weeks, but Dr Hamed was kind enough to accommodate me in different in-person courses as well as his online course.
He is a teacher worthy of utmost respect, a teacher who you keep searching for long and you merely get! He has been no less than a blessing for my TCF/TEF journey.
If you failed TCF/TEF before, if you are a mum planning to give TCF/TEF , if you have long gaps or have any other commitments, don’t let anything stop you from reaching your goal.
It just needs planning and practising. Plan ahead, give yourself time and don't rush.
I was trying to memorise DDs, risk factors, symptoms, etc when I was cooking, cleaning, dish washing, feeding my child, etc.
I used to get up a few hours earlier than my child to study and then hand her over to my husband when he was coming home after his work.
During the course try to find a good study partner whose circumstances match with yours, is serious and committed.
Try to attend the academy as much you can.
It might not be convenient to find an approved childminder during this Covid time, but your husband can take some days off work, if not, try to attend on weekends.
Last but not least, show your sincerity, you are promised to get help from Allah!
It is time to return the favour, feel free to direct message me if you need any help.
I wish you all good luck and hope to see you soon in the HERE ✌

Need AT LEAST ~12 Months, assuming you study 2-3 h per day in first few months and 4-5 h per day in last few months. This is already an accelerated timeline- often, this takes 2 years.
    Tips
    - focus on fun. Fall in love w/ french, take pride in speaking it correctly.
Step 1: get pronunciation right, imp in beginning, not the same as english. Will cost u if you don't fix early. Alexa french has good playlist. BBarters' first 6 videos in the TEF Canada Preparation playlist focus on pronunciation. "Super Easy French" playlist by Easy Languages is v useful.
Step 2: start with grammar basics. Practice makes perfect Complete French grammar book
Step 3: Duolingo to supplement grammar learning, spend 30 mins every day.
Step 4: His opinion: improve grammar faster, "attacking grammar" faster than natural immersion via watching movies.
Step 5: start with edito book. Best textbook out there for french (avoid saison textbook!). Start with A1, A2, B1 book. Each book should take 2-3 months. No need to do B2, because you can do exam specific prep instead.
Step 6: continue grammar, Duolingo, edito ALL in parallel. FIND a study partner, prevents time-wasting. Use the "Practice makes perfect french sentence builder" book.
    Step 7: Start duolingo stories.
Step 8: Finish off PMP Complete French Grammar. REPEAT grammar books repeatedly, even ones youve alrd read.
Step 9: Finish off edito A1,A2, B1. use pen and paper to take edito notes, not Google docs. Make them easy for pre-exam revision.
Step 10: finish Duolingo, but don't repeat it (it's only supplementary).
Step 11: 1 month before exam: prepmyfuture.com to prepare for TEF/TCF.
Step 12: some teacher to teach you for the speaking test, few weeks before test.
    Mistakes to avoid:
    - stop collecting too many study materials
    - Don't go with institutes that prepare you for DELF- wrong exam.
    - Don't cram 8-10 h a day.
    What to do:
    - Focus on yourself, not on courses. 85% is you, 15% is teachers, stop course hunting

Thanks a lot for the information you provided in the video. I've got a question. As the spoken french in Quebec and in France (metropolitan French) are quite different I think the TEF exam's resources must also be different. What do you think about this? Can I study metropolitan French and still get a B2+ level score on the TEF exam or are the resources you introduced good enough for this task?

    • @Person-hb3dv

Additional note: I spoke with one of my Friends that his native language is metropolitan French and he told me that Quebec French sounds like broken French to him. So I'd guess that the metropolitan French is not acceptable for the TEF exam but I still want to know your opinion on this.

So should I first mug up and remember all those irregular verbs in different tenses and then move to the next chapter or just learn them as they come along is Edito series and in other materials?

    • @BBarters
      @BBarters  3 года назад +1

Learn as they come - it's not about mugging up - it is about revising - writing them down - and using them in sentences, conversations - you have to repeat this. Just mugging up won't do anything. Periodic revision is better.

(While I agree with you on all other points...) At 21:10 you advise not to prepare for DELF (when one's target is TEF) as it's entirely a different exam (OK I agree that it's a different exam).
On the other hand you recommend a book (Edito A1, A2, B1) which is designed for DELF ! With this, in my opinion, your advisory not to prepare for DELF fails. DELF as well as TEF are about the language (French) and until the candidate hits the TEF level, DELF exams are certainly going to help him/her measure his/her progress in the language. So your revulsion for DELF cannot be justified.

    • @BBarters
      @BBarters  2 года назад +2

We agree with you on certain points. The reason we advise not to join DELF prep courses if your target is TEF/TCF is that, DELF exam structure is quite different to that of TEF/TCF. Also, the difficulty level is low. E.g in DELF B1/B2 you get approx 30 mins to prepare for Expression Orale (speaking) whereas in TEF Canada you get 1 min to prepare. Thus, you must get used to these challenges by joining TEF Canada Prep programs. Also, DELF courses usually are 4-5 months in duration for each level, most of the times that is not the timeline of students who want to prepare rigorously for TEF?TCF. Either way, one need not follow our advice, after all it's an advice not a rule.

Are you confused between TEF and TCF ? Wondering which exam to take for Canadian immigration?
TEF Canada is certified by Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paris, Île-de-France, whereas TCF is certified by CIEP Paris.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry's exams are relatively easier than and CIEP.
      Pro:
They both have same four components comme ça on peut en parler ici et puis on peut avoir les questions identifiant documentlistening, reading, writing and speaking.
      Cons:
In an hour's time you have to write only two texts in the TEF Canada exam.
But in the TCF exam you have to produce three texts in an hour.
For even more a detailed explanation, please visit www.hereandnow.fr/tef-vs-tcf

      @BBarters  Год назад

Yes, you can certainly consider using the Practice Makes Perfect: Complete French All-in-One book as an additional resource.
However, we recommend focusing on the Complete French Grammar book.
Please note that there might be slight differences in the chapter numbering between the two resources, so it's important to be mindful and correlate the content accordingly.
If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, please feel free to reach out to us at info@bebarters.com

The books recommended in the video are sufficient. For vocabulary, revision of these books is more important. As we revise, we find more structures, more collocations (groups of words) which we can use in our own expressions.

Non, it's just one exam for determining your level, like IELTS. You can take DELF/ DALF exams but those are not accepted by IRCC for immigration purposes.
