This is why evil always loses in the end. If they are not defeated by good, they ultimately defeat themselves. Because evil is self destructive and they are all about themselves in the end. Only reason they work with other evil people is because of the advantages. They have allies but not real friends and only fight for themselves. Good people always fight for others.

I always feel sorry for Gollum because although he's a villain, it's not really his fault either. His mind is just poisoned by the power of the ring just like everyone else (even though he has it the worse) and his backstory at the beginning of Return of the King makes it all the more sad. Plus, when I first saw these movies I, much like everyone else hoped he would eventually snap out of it and see the light and become a good guy.
I know this is an anime villain from a TV show, but Urasue from "Inuyasha." She stole Kikyō's ashes and recreated her body from clay so she can use Kikyō to track down the rest of the Sacred Shikon Jewel shards, then kidnapped Kagome, transferring her soul into Kikyō's clay body. Urasue successfully revived Kikyō, but it backfired. Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. I love how his final death in the movies is so anticlimactic, almost peaceful, in contrast to the violent life he led.
That's what the terrorists think. They never asked for their god's permission or approval. So saying that they were doing any deity's work is rather inaccurate. Also, the Nazis (Hitler especially), not unlike Stalinists and Leninists, are not famous for their religiosity as they were not exactly great fans of any god (Hitler wanted to be the god of his new order of things and any other god would be in the way).
Well, let's see. -Otto died to his own artificial sun. -Norman Osborn was pierced by his own glider. -Brock was blown up trying to rebond with the Venom symbiote.

Genie Jafar was only defeated by confinement in a lamp toward the end of "Aladdin", he wasn't destroyed till the sequel, "Return of Jafar", when a supposedly dead Iago knocked the lamp into a pool of lava thereby destroying both the lamp and Jafar.
+Mecha Moa Christopher Lloyd is a great actor. You should check out some of his other stuff: The Addams Family, Taxi (TV series), Camp Nowhere, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...
i know, right? This is why i love Sam Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy. Because the Bad Guys weren't stereotypical black and white evil but were actually good characters who turned evil due to unfortunate circumstances and you can't help but sympathize with them. Exceptionally well played.
Steve Robinson was right Voldemort! was killed by what he sought; read harry potter andthe deathly hallows it explicitly states the Elder Wand backfired on him.
He also was the reason Harry survived in the end as Harry became a horcrux because Voldemort killed his parents. If Voldemort didn't try to kill him as a child Harry would have been killed by the first spell Voldemort made.
I could be wrong, but you forgot Irina Spalko from the fourth Indiana Jones movie. After all, she wanted to know everything until the infinite knowledge reduced her to dust.
John Smith Yeah, it wasn’t the best, I’ll admit that. But personally, I feel that it’s a bit overhated. Ah well, if you don’t like it, that’s fine. I don’t have the right to try to force you into liking a movie you dislike.
If you want to get technical about it, the one who actually killed Voldemort was Voldemort himself. The man died during his final confrontation against Harry Potter, in which they simultaneously cast their signature spells at each other, Voldemort casting the killing curse, Avada Kedavra, and Harry casting a mere disarming charm, Expelliarmus. However, since the wand Voldemort was using did not recognize Voldemort as it’s owner, nor was it willing to harm it’s true owner, Harry Potter, Voldemort’s curse faltered and rebounded on himself, killing him.
Ironically, Gollum was the only reason the Ring ended up being destroyed. Frodo finally succumbed to it and was about to abscond with it. Had Gollum not jumped Frodo for it when he did, Sauron might have won.
1.) Red Skull isn't dead. He's revealed to still be alive in Infinity War 2.) You forgot Jafar's actual death, where, as a result of his wish to become a genie, his lamp is destroyed, thus killing him. 3.) So Gollum fell into lava fighting Frodo over the ring, and held onto it in his final moments. Does that really count as being killed by the ring? 4.) Voldemort and Lamia (from Stardust) should have at least got honorable mention here, since Voldy sought the Elder Wand which backfired on him, and Lamia sought to eat Yvaine's heart for eternal youth, and Yvaine destroyed her Though, props to getting Dietrich's name right and showing all three deaths, which the "Over the Top Villain Deaths" reviewer failed to do (calling Dietrich "Sallah" and only showing Toht's death)
Irina Spalko from "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", after she places the skull back to its place, she wanted to know everything, but bit off more than she could chew and turned into a fireball and then dust.
This is definitely one of WatchMojo's better & best lists ever, not a single complaint about any of these picks or honorable mentions plus I love that they included The Horned King from The Black Cauldron as well!!! Glad to see WatchMojo for once actually put real thought & research into a countdown because this one is really one of their very best :) I will say this however, I'm shocked that Voldemort from the Harry Potter film series was not included in this list as he is most certainly a villain famously destroyed in the end by the very power he obsessively sought!!! Voldemort should've at least been an honorable mention!!! Also, Neville Sinclair from The Rocketeer definitely fits the category of villains killed by the very power they lusted after but that's not actually Sinclair himself who is shown in the honorable mentions segment but rather his Frankenstein-like enforcer: Luther.
I'm gonna have to add Kratos to the list, and he's actually a repeat offender. The first time was when he let Ares fuel his ambition to the point he recklessly attacked temples of Athena. This led to Ares siccing him on his own family and ruining his life, making him "The Ghost of Sparta" without even dying first. If you follow the chronology, his efforts to break loose from Ares and get the Furies off his back led to his turning his back on the Elysian Fields and all hope of reuniting with them even in death. He starts conquering everyone else's territory again and gets stabbed and cast into Hades. He then fights out of that to defeat the fates, only to end up betrayed by the Titans he'd worked to save from the gods. When he avenges himself from them and -fianlly- kills Zeus, it leads him to have to stab himself, surrender hope, and drag himself away from Greece altogether
Slight inaccuracy in the Ark of the covenant not being Pandora's box. The real ark of the covenant could not even be touched or the offending person would die on the spot. If it was possessed by any nation other than Isreal then that nation would be racked by plauges, famines, madness, drought, and natural disasters. One account reports that one nation placed the Ark in the temple of their gods to show their pantheon had conquered the God of Isreal, they returned the next day to find all of the idols and alters in their temple crushes to Rubble, with the Ark still seated on its stand. They then returned the Ark.
The guy that got blown up in the honourable mention to do with the film the Rocketeer is not Neville Sinclair because Neville Sinclair was in fact played by former James Bond Timothy Dalton and actually put the jet pack known as the rocket on his back flew off into the air and then the rocket exploded while he was flying it.
8:27 Donovan trusted Elsa to choose for him without Recognizing her treachery that she was not to be trusted before drinking from the false cup and bites the dust in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.
Well, technically Gollum wasn't a villain before the ring came to him. So the top entry is actually the One Ring, not Gollum. The Ring sought the power to possess and corrupt which lead to that scene and it's undoing.
The issue I have with Sauron's inclusion is that it was his power in the first place. Yes, he was destroyed by trying to regain the power he had lost, so he could be included, but it's a slightly different case.
There was something very evil dominating everyone. Including Sauron and it was tied to that ring. Remember, the One Ring existed after Saurons Defeat. The other way around... not so much. That Ring was the one true Evil and the Dark Lord of Middelearth.
+8th wonder of the world Having Vader as an apprentice wasn't the power he sought (remember he tried to get Luke to replace him in Return of the Jedi). Vader was just a pawn in helping him achieve his true goal, which was basically total galactic domination.
+8th wonder of the world All of Palpatine's apprentices were a means to an end and not the goal itself. In the films he wanted Anakin as his replacement for Duku (who replaced Maul). In the comics and the EU novels he even had Maul cloned and brought back to fight Vader to determine which one was the more worthy to serve as his apprentice. Hell, in Shadows of the Empire Vader could have easily been replaced by the non-Forceable Prince Xizor. What Palpatine wanted was galactic domination. Which he got and held onto for decades.
The one ring didn't just Kill Smeagol it really did destroy him. It disfigured him, he could no longer eat proper food, it made his life hell and stopped him from dying. The Ring was punishing Golem, because the Ring only loves its one true master.
Not me. Despite being born during the 80s, spending my childhood during the Transformers' heyday, and having many friends who were into the stuff, all it ever struck me as was utterly infantile, stupid and boring...
First was good. Second was disjointed (thank a writer's strike for that). Third was OK, if a little long. Fourth had some good parts, but went on too long. Fifth was both stupid and too long.
Well, in a sense he was destroyed at the end of Captain America. And we're just talking about that movie, not the later Avengers movie (in which the Skull was played by a different actor).
Uncle Frank: Hellraiser, the Devil in Legend who was banished by the woman he loved's boyfriend, Dr. Frankenstein killed by his creation, and the doctor in the Fly who ultimately died by his own experiment.
Surprised Blackheart from Ghost Rider didn't make this list. The movie may not be the best, but he's a prime example of this: spends the whole movie immune to the Penance Stare and therefore pretty much invincible, but once he gets the souls he wants it's the very thing that enables him to be killed.
When Gollum hit that lava, if that were a real being hitting real lava he would've just smacked the surface and held there as his corpse caught fire. Lava is incredibly viscous and it takes a long time for things to sink into it, hitting it from that height would've been like landing on hard pavement.
J K Well, Jafar DID die during the final battle in the 1994 sequel "The Return of Jafar" when Iago, who was severely injured trying to stop Jafar, used the last ounce of his strength to kick Jafar's lamp into the lava below.
He was still undone by the power he hoped to wield...he thought that being the most powerful sorcerer was enough, since he could pretty much do everything...and while he DID have the powers of a Genie, he was still bound by its rules, meaning he couldn't kill anyone, make anyone fall in love, or bring people back from the dead...which were things he could easily do while as a sorcerer ironically enough... (considering he used his magic to force Jasmine and the Sultan to bow before him...he could easily have 'enchanted' Jasmine to fall for him etc...)
Jafar even says "All the power in the universe, and I am bound by the rules of the Genie! Which means, I can't kill that upstart Aladdin...unless...I have someone arrange it for me..." And also in the end, Jafar creates that huge lava pit and the circumstance where Aladdin could possible perish (either by accident or his own hand), but Jafar can't do the deed by his own hand.
Just like the old saying goes: Too much of anything is not good for you. And as Mark Twain said: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.”
I have a good one. Ezekiel. Okay, it sounds weird but we was originally a human home school nerd until winning the game got into his head. He’s like a human cockroach. Even having similarities with Gollum. As a cartoon, he didn’t die in the lava, just didn’t learn his lesson (at least, he had love with animal friends in season four)
In the Honorable Mentions, the character of Neville Sinclair from "The Rocketeer" is not featured in the chosen scene, but his henchman Lothar. Sinclair was killed by the jet pack he attempted to steal from The Rocketeer when it exploded on his back.
He was killed by the hole in the fuel tank; so excited to use the rocket pack that he didn't see his death coming. Would have been a good choice if they used the right clip!
cyclopstb , you are absolutely right, and the villain was not seeking an exploding blimp, he was seeking the rocket, that turned him into a fireball by day and a Pilar of Ash by night, :P
+Alex Mercer Yes, but the villains in the KotCS weren't Nazis, but rather Soviets. So if they wanted to include them, Mojo would basically have to name "All villains in Indiana Jones"
TheLovable Goofs he kind of was since he tried to kill Sam and Frodo to get the ring. Gollum should get bonus points for causing Saurons destruction via the destruction of the ring
Steven Johnston he was kind of a villain by the end of return of the king but he wasn’t a full villain like Sauron was. The ring “did” destroy him since his desire for it led to him fighting Frodo for it in mount doom and led to him falling into the lava with the ring
Gotta disagree with Gollum. He didn't want the ring for it's power, he coveted it only because of his obsession with it. He "loved" it, unconditionally, even though it deformed him and ruined his mind and his life. No power plays there. Just wanted to be left alone with his precious

+WatchMojo.com You guys realize that was NOT Neville Sinclair in the honorable mentions, right? That was a lacky...Sinclair blew up flying the rocket-pack.
+MrTheYinYangMan Actually, I thought Voldemort would be number one. He wanted to the power of the Hallows to live forever and ultimately, it was the Elder Wand that killed him.
+Sandro Munoz while Voldemort could be on this list, Gollum was deserving the spot, his obsession for the ring was too powerful. Plus Lotr > Harry Potter :P
+Sandro Munoz Voldemort didn't actually seek the power of the Hallows. He didn't know they existed (he was raised a muggle just like harry). The power he sought was the Elder Wand (which is well known as the most powerful wand in existence and has no pair) and the horcruxes (which would tie his soul to the world and allow him to return after being destroyed). He was still technically destroyed by the power he sought though.
What about Kai of Kung Fu Panda 3? He wanted Chi which ultimately destroys him. Then there is that villain who got crushed by the gold he needed in The Mask of Zorro.
I just have to say.... Gollum didn't get destroyed by the ring.... lava tends to melt anything that goes in it. Now if the ring killed him, or even Sauron, I might've counted it.
Indominus Rex should be on the list because when she escaped her cage and rampages she thinks she's at the top of the food chain. but all of those thoughts backfires to her when the T-rex and Blue teamed up against her.... and the Mosasaurus finally finishes her off. at the end it signifies that the T-rex, blue, and the dinosaurs are always at the top of the food chain Oh not to mention Paul Serone from "Anaconda" he should be also in the list because he wanted to catch the 40ft anaconda alive and sell it so he become rich but he met his end at the jaws of the Anaconda that he wished to sell for ransom.
He didn't really get killed by the power of the dark side, but by vader throwing him into an abyss, no darkside energies directly involved there. You could argue that Vader belonged to the power set he sought, being the chosen one to bring balance to the force, but on the other hand, Sidious probably never believed in that prophecy, otherwise he would have sought to destroy him and not to turn him into his lackey. He thought of Vader as an extremely talented follower, but not as a power that he, the most powerful of the Sith, didn't have himself.

How about Lord Voldemort, killed by the Elder Wand he sought so desperately to possess, even killing Snape for it, never once realizing Harry was its true master. Should have been #1.
Indiana Jones is the perfect example of a hero who has villains who get destroyed by the power they sought. Doctor Octopus sacrificed himself to the power he sought.

Genie Jafar was only defeated by confinement in a lamp toward the end of "Aladdin", he wasn't destroyed till the sequel, "Return of Jafar", when a supposedly dead Iago knocked the lamp into a pool of lava thereby destroying both the lamp and Jafar.
The villain in mask of Zorro, they wanted gold, they get crushed to death by hundreds of gold bars...
+Ben Meunier-Hargreaves Yeah, that was brutal.
I think those gold bars count as wealth, not a true source of power.
With Money you can buy power. Basically a same thing as power.
The reveal of Judge Doom's true nature is still the freakiest bit of nightmare fuel.
ztslovebird true that scene is extremely creepy and scared me when i was little.
Man, I need to watch that movie again.
I think Judge Doom was created by Nazies
Hunter Kudasik Nah. He was around long before them.
his death made me laugh uncontrollably
that Ex Machina stab was probably the most anticlimactic death I've ever seen
I don’t know. It was kind of funny.
No Lord Voldemort?
8:42
"He chose poorly."
You don't say.
This makes me want to watch 'who framed Roger Rabbit' again xD
+Touching Things I didn't realize that villain was the same actor who did Back to the Future.
+Mecha Moa Christopher Lloyd is a great actor. You should check out some of his other stuff: The Addams Family, Taxi (TV series), Camp Nowhere, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...
+Nikmid Clayton He was also the klingon bad guy in star trek: the search for spock
+Touching Things Something about that high pitched voice still scares me as a grown up.
+Touching Things I still feel bad for that living cartoon shoe that he burned alive for a demonstration
Doctor Octopus should also be on the villain turned good video. He was good in the end. I loved him
i know, right? This is why i love Sam Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy. Because the Bad Guys weren't stereotypical black and white evil but were actually good characters who turned evil due to unfortunate circumstances and you can't help but sympathize with them. Exceptionally well played.
@@KRAFTWERK2K6,but not Venom since it was pure jealousy and possession by the Symbiote that made him evil in the first place!
What about Voldemort! He was killed by what he sought; the Elder Wand
Which was originated by Albus Dumbledore.
Albus didn't create the wand, though
Steve Robinson was right Voldemort! was killed by what he sought; read harry potter andthe deathly hallows it explicitly states the Elder Wand backfired on him.
He also was the reason Harry survived in the end as Harry became a horcrux because Voldemort killed his parents. If Voldemort didn't try to kill him as a child Harry would have been killed by the first spell Voldemort made.
TRUE!
I would have placed Raiders at number one.
Me too
Jeff Steffen same
Me too
Me too.
Who framed Roger Rabbit was something special nice to have stand alone movies sometimes
I could be wrong, but you forgot Irina Spalko from the fourth Indiana Jones movie. After all, she wanted to know everything until the infinite knowledge reduced her to dust.
Herman Stapelberg No one likes that movie.
I thought it was okay.
John Smith Yeah, it wasn’t the best, I’ll admit that. But personally, I feel that it’s a bit overhated. Ah well, if you don’t like it, that’s fine. I don’t have the right to try to force you into liking a movie you dislike.
Indiana Jones wasn't Perfect, but it is still good.
Also, Voldemort. He got killed by the Elder Wand.
Anubis no harry killed Voldemort harry was the true master of the elder wand so it got a counter curse on voldemort
That's not right.
Also Ex Machina is extremely Ironic if you've watched The Black Mirror and seen the episode where HE"S the android.
Ironically, Gollum was the only reason the Ring ended up being destroyed. Frodo finally succumbed to it and was about to abscond with it. Had Gollum not jumped Frodo for it when he did, Sauron might have won.
Katy Perry’s Dark Horse “So you wanna play with magic, boy you should know what your falling for.”
Best quote ever
1.) Red Skull isn't dead. He's revealed to still be alive in Infinity War
2.) You forgot Jafar's actual death, where, as a result of his wish to become a genie, his lamp is destroyed, thus killing him.
3.) So Gollum fell into lava fighting Frodo over the ring, and held onto it in his final moments. Does that really count as being killed by the ring?
4.) Voldemort and Lamia (from Stardust) should have at least got honorable mention here, since Voldy sought the Elder Wand which backfired on him, and Lamia sought to eat Yvaine's heart for eternal youth, and Yvaine destroyed her
Though, props to getting Dietrich's name right and showing all three deaths, which the "Over the Top Villain Deaths" reviewer failed to do (calling Dietrich "Sallah" and only showing Toht's death)
“I’m on your side.”
“No, you’re my side dish!”
*Grail Knight: They chose....poorly.*
Glad to see WatchMojo for once actually put real thought & research into a countdown because this one is really one of their very best :)
I will say this however, I'm shocked that Voldemort from the Harry Potter film series was not included in this list as he is most certainly a villain famously destroyed in the end by the very power he obsessively sought!!!
Only Kratos can open the Pandora's box and live to tell the tale :P
I would have also included the evil woman from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that thought she could handle the knowledge of the universe.
Blaise Avey Except everyone hates that movie.
John Smith I dont
Irena spalko
Blaise Avey agreed
@@communistvalkyriania690 Irina Spalko
Someone oughta have told those villains that "such great power wouldn't have satisfied them anyway".
So Gollum is like Two Face, who can't function without his coin.
Samuel Barber Basically
Well, technically Gollum wasn't a villain before the ring came to him.
So the top entry is actually the One Ring, not Gollum. The Ring sought the power to possess and corrupt which lead to that scene and it's undoing.
Or perhaps Sauron , the Dark Lord and Lord of the Rings who sought to rule all Middle Earth and perished with the Ring.
The issue I have with Sauron's inclusion is that it was his power in the first place. Yes, he was destroyed by trying to regain the power he had lost, so he could be included, but it's a slightly different case.
Excellent point and on reflection I agree fully.
There was something very evil dominating everyone. Including Sauron and it was tied to that ring.
Remember, the One Ring existed after Saurons Defeat. The other way around... not so much.
That Ring was the one true Evil and the Dark Lord of Middelearth.
Unotch Sauron created the ring. Any evil in the one ring came from him.
emperor Palpatine. the power he sought was darth vader as his apprentice. and well he killed him
+8th wonder of the world
Having Vader as an apprentice wasn't the power he sought (remember he tried to get Luke to replace him in Return of the Jedi). Vader was just a pawn in helping him achieve his true goal, which was basically total galactic domination.
+General Steelflex that was also the case in count doku
+the wild fire mapping And also Maul.
+lekhaclam87 he loved maul only he was killed
The one ring didn't just Kill Smeagol it really did destroy him. It disfigured him, he could no longer eat proper food, it made his life hell and stopped him from dying. The Ring was punishing Golem, because the Ring only loves its one true master.
Who agrees that the transformers movies are terrible, but the transformers themselves are cool
The first one was good
[ Madman ] the movie bots have the most interesting designs, except movie 4 and 5 Optimus, I don't really dig it
i dont agree, the moves of transformers are great and they are cool
I'm not shocked that Gollum was #1, but Judge Doom should have been higher, like #4 or #3.
Ha! Jokes on you guys Red Skull didn't die! LOL
David K Williams III but the question is how does he get back to Earth?
The red skull eventually gets returned but he's finding new powers
Well, in a sense he was destroyed at the end of Captain America. And we're just talking about that movie, not the later Avengers movie (in which the Skull was played by a different actor).
He was teleported to a different planet....not destroyed at all
He was. Certainly defeated, at any rate.
Judge Doom was AWESOME
a Washington I also like Judge Doom.
Christopher Llyod is Brilliant!
that jump he does at the end when its revealed as a toon freaked me out as a kid. jesus imagine that coming at you
He is still chillingly effective even by today's standards.
That was a brick...
Actually he would have hit the surface and exploded from the tremendous amount of heat from the lava lake.
Wrong, Jafar did not die. He was placed inside the Lamp and throw across the Desert
J K Well, Jafar DID die during the final battle in the 1994 sequel "The Return of Jafar" when Iago, who was severely injured trying to stop Jafar, used the last ounce of his strength to kick Jafar's lamp into the lava below.
I just told him.
But he still itches to kill Aladdin in the second film.
Lady Van Tassel from Sleepy Hollow should be on a follow up list
Exactly what I thought! :)
Just like the old saying goes: Too much of anything is not good for you.
And as Mark Twain said: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.”
The Walter Donovan death always scared the shit outta me. "He chose POORLY."
#1 should be Thanos in Endgame
The Horned King (The Black Cauldron). Good choice. What about Naga (Bakugan season 1).
And Dr.Doom in the awful Fantastic Four reboot and Poppy in Kingsman 2 and Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and Quentin Turnbull in Jonah Hex.
Creeper: He`s gone! Hahahahahahahahahaha! He`s gone! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Has to be a movie
"Unlimited Power!!!" Emperor Palpatine
"Because he's a hopelessly devoted addict."😂😂
11:29 wrong footage from The Rocketeer
That's not Neville Sinclair. That's his bodyguard, Lothar .
You are CORRECT sir! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
Sinclair was undone by either some kind of putty or gum which kept the rocket from leaking.
Thank you sir, I was just about to post this very comment.
Where's Agent Smith from the Matrix?
Number one thing in ALL Movies and TV shows, never say What Could Go Wrong
Oh my god, the voice of Judge Doom is amazing! The italian doubling is also absolutley fantastic! They did a terrific work, you should check it!
YOU FORGOT
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
+Alex Mercer It's not in here? Damn it.
+Alex Mercer - There are a couple of Indiana Jones movies that are best forgotten.
+Alex Mercer Yes, but the villains in the KotCS weren't Nazis, but rather Soviets. So if they wanted to include them, Mojo would basically have to name "All villains in Indiana Jones"
sailormoon262 How'but just the scene where the bitch exploded due to overwhelming info. Haha!
+Alex Mercer I'd like to forget it.
Gollum still looks glorious, even after almost 15 years.
good gollum was number 1 I was just typing my angry message that he wasn't on the list lmao
Well you could argue that gollum isn't really a villain
Sauron was the main villain of LOTR, defeated thanks to the destroying of the Ring.
TheLovable Goofs he kind of was since he tried to kill Sam and Frodo to get the ring. Gollum should get bonus points for causing Saurons destruction via the destruction of the ring
Jake Alter Gollum was not a villain one and two the Ring didn't destroy Him if anything Sauron was the villain destroyed
Steven Johnston he was kind of a villain by the end of return of the king but he wasn’t a full villain like Sauron was. The ring “did” destroy him since his desire for it led to him fighting Frodo for it in mount doom and led to him falling into the lava with the ring
Where is Kai from Kung Fu Panda 3? He sought to grab the power of Chi from everyone, but then he got killed by Chi thanks to Po Ping.
Gotta disagree with Gollum. He didn't want the ring for it's power, he coveted it only because of his obsession with it. He "loved" it, unconditionally, even though it deformed him and ruined his mind and his life. No power plays there. Just wanted to be left alone with his precious

Coincidentally, he appears in the list. XD
+H4WK69 Marty!!!!!!! We're not reaching 88 miles an hour! ARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!
+H4WK69 Side effects of time travel.
I think lord voldemort deserved to be in the honorable mentionts
Oh hell yeah
+Balrog Slayer HP > LOTR
What about Kai of Kung Fu Panda 3? He wanted Chi which ultimately destroys him. Then there is that villain who got crushed by the gold he needed in The Mask of Zorro.
I just have to say.... Gollum didn't get destroyed by the ring.... lava tends to melt anything that goes in it. Now if the ring killed him, or even Sauron, I might've counted it.
Indominus Rex should be on the list because when she escaped her cage and rampages she thinks she's at the top of the food chain. but all of those thoughts backfires to her when the T-rex and Blue teamed up against her.... and the Mosasaurus finally finishes her off. at the end it signifies that the T-rex, blue, and the dinosaurs are always at the top of the food chain
Oh not to mention Paul Serone from "Anaconda" he should be also in the list because he wanted to catch the 40ft anaconda alive and sell it so he become rich but he met his end at the jaws of the Anaconda that he wished to sell for ransom.
Darth Sidious "Emperor Palpatine"?
No.
Yes and no
He didn't really get killed by the power of the dark side, but by vader throwing him into an abyss, no darkside energies directly involved there.
Dr.Doom in Fant4stic,Dr.Facilier in The Princess and the Frog,Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2,Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,Quentin Turnbull in Jonah Hex,Kahmunrah in Night at the Museum 2,Kai in Kung Fu Panda 3,Poppy Adams in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Basically all of the Jurassic villans
How about Lord Voldemort, killed by the Elder Wand he sought so desperately to possess, even killing Snape for it, never once realizing Harry was its true master. Should have been #1.
Indiana Jones is the perfect example of a hero who has villains who get destroyed by the power they sought.
Doctor Octopus sacrificed himself to the power he sought.
