It looks like Pat Smear had one of those Slash moments. After that heavy jam he almost looked surprised at just how funky Slash plays. Maybe as a peer he can't quite say, "Hell Yeah, I grew Up On Appetite". Some of people there looked liked they didn't know the covers that well. But it was Dave Grohls B-day and maybe some people got turned on to Sabbath or Zeppelin/Alice. Only good could come of that
