Great interview! Organized, articulated well, and comprehensive. I am out of San Antone, TX and my best friend was a cat whose last name was “Lindsey”. I remember he had kinfolk in CA who used to visit in the summers. I would not be surprised to find out that they are related to one another. Almost everyone I grew up with had folks in L.A.,/Southern CA, including me (Altadena). Ended up going to USC, in fact. Just to illustrate how live that connection was between the 2 states, the first time I heard the term “Crip” was as early as 1975 when I was in 5th grade when this cat named “Lil Daddy” came to San Antone one summer and turned a whole neighborhood out. LeSon from the Galaxy West Crips to the Lantanna Crips of Compton. Compton has a very unique hostory when it comes to Tribes and how they affected everyone in that City. They started early as a Tribe 70-71 and the determination of Mac Thomas and the Compton Crips influened his decision to go that route. I also see how a lot of early Crips and Pirus were all friends and cool with each other, at least for a while. I also liked hearing about the Galaxy West Crips fighting against white gangs and l would love to hear more about that. Plus hearing about Tribes like the Kite Boys? That to me is interesting on ot's own. So l guess these smaller Tribes were absorbed by the Crips and like the Ol sayin goes? Crip or what? Well it looks like it was.
